 Responsibilities and Duties:

•  Conducting daily inspections on machines and resolving all mechanical and electrical deviations picked
• Conducting hazard identification and risk assessment and ensuring that mitigations are in place to maintain a safe working environment and providing mitigation to risks or reporting to supervision where high accident potentials exist
• Responding to breakdowns and resolving them at the earliest possible to minimize downtime
• Assisting operators with care, maintenance and operational requirements on machines and ensuring that machinery testing is done after each service, repair and whenever required
• Identifying and reporting any signs indicating potential failure to supervision and planning interventions work to ensure these are arrested before failure
• Identifying, reporting and correcting any safety deviations and ensuring that the machines are never operated in an unsafe manner.
• Providing care on machines to ensure that no components are inadvertently damaged or are maintained in a secure manner to avoid damage and pilferage
• Scheduling maintenance times, parts, consumables and any additional labour required
• Immediately calling out for assistance where the task at hand is beyond self-capability and working with supervision on logistics to obtain the labour
• Arranging adequate tools, spares, consumables and any special devices like lifting equipment to enable smooth completion of tasks whenever needed
• Immediately completing all applicable documents like risk assessments, job cards, timesheets, incident forms, waybills etc. as instructed and submitting accordingly before end of each shift.

Qualifications & experience required:

Requirements:

• Matric
• Mechanical /Electrical Engineering National Diploma or Artisan Trade (Red Seal)
• 3 - 5 years Experience on TMM in an mining environment
• Driver’s license Code 10
• Experience on Cat Machinery (Preferred)
• Experience on Cat 777 trucks (Preferred)
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in the Mines on maintenance of heavy mechanical equipment

Responsibilities and Duties

• Operating Machine and other mechanical equipment
• Ensure own permits and license are up to date and relevant for the equipment assigned to operate.
• Carry out all legal instructions given by the Supervisor.
• Understand and follow directions from Supervisors as to required work area.
• Carry out Load and Haul in compliance with Safety Regulations.
• Operate the machine in a safe and applicable manner.
• Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
• Intervene promptly in emergencies.
• Ensure that good housekeeping is maintained on the floor.
• Do pre-start checks and post shift checks according to the procedures on the equipment assigned to operate.
• Promptly report all defects and damages on the equipment to the Supervisor.
• Always make use of Company PPE (e.g. sunglasses).
• Complete timesheets daily and submit to Shift Supervisor.

• Attend daily safety briefing meetings as scheduled by the Client and at times by the Shift Supervisor.

• Promptly report all accidents, safety deviations, nonconformance and transgressions at the workplace using prescribed channels.

Qualifications & experience required

• Five years plus experience managing a medium contractor mining operation with exposure to open cast mining.
• Extensive experience in dealing with Clients at all levels.
• Entrepreneur with proven record of managing businesses and or successful turnaround strategies within the mining contracting, or heavy mobile equipment (HME/TMM) operations

• Legal appointment in terms of the applicable regulations of both the Occupational and Mines Health and Safety Acts (OHSA & MHSA)

• Prepare and consolidate timesheets on a weekly and Monthly basis.
• Record keeping, filing, capture and update of records to ensure that information is accurate and accessible.
