    Credit Analyst - Cape Town

    Overview

    M&G Investments is looking for a passionate and motivated Credit Analyst who will be responsible for evaluating credit metrics, financial statements, industry trends, and macroeconomic factors to develop comprehensive credit assessments of issuers in the SA bond markets. As a Credit Analyst, you will collaborate with portfolio managers to optimise the holdings of corporate credit within client portfolios.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Providing an independent opinion on the credit worthiness of borrowers in the SA bond market
    • Liaison with issuers, debt arrangers (the Investment banks), industry experts, regulators, sell-side analysts and rating agencies, including reviewing the opinions presented by rating agencies
    • Monitoring credit relevant news (including company announcements, regulatory developments, earnings reports, ratings actions) and analysing the impact on credit views
    • Attending all credit committee meetings and other regular meetings of the fixed income team
    • Leveraging off the work of the M&G Equity team, rating agencies, and sell-side analysts
    • Analysing the impact of corporate action events on assigned issuers, and exercising our voting rights as appropriate
    • Responding to internal queries relating to the assigned credit issuers and broader credit market

    Attributes Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    • An appropriate finance or business degree (e.g., BCom, BBusSc)
    • 3 years relevant financial services/investment industry experience an advantage
    • Chartered Accountant qualification will be an advantage but is not required

    Senior IT Business Analyst - Cape Town

    Overview

    We are looking for a highly technical, skilled and energetic Senior Technical Business Analyst to join the IT Team at M&G Investments. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to work collaboratively across a global business to drive real progress in our change and project management processes. As a Senior Technical Business Analyst you will be part of the change program and the size and scope of the projects will range from small to large. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of IT.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Produces logical and technical specifications from functional specifications for the application environments. Does component level design utilising mainly Technology and Data Architecture Models.
    • Assists with the designing of new systems and major changes to existing systems in consultation with the Enterprise Architect.
    • Incumbent carries out systems analyses, design, system testing, security assessments, performance assessments and user interfaces and applies Desktop and SaaS/MSP Technologies.
    • Responsible for the systematic and methodical investigation, analysis and documentation of all or part of a business area in terms of business functions and processes, and the information they use across applications.
    • Identifies and examines business needs and determines timely and effective solutions to business functions and processes.
    • Acts as a bridge between the business and the IT development teams.

    Business analysis

    Data and Valuation Specialist

    Overview

    A Data and Valuations Specialist vacancy has arisen in the Data Management team within the Investment Administration area at M&G Investments. The role requires the incumbent to spend their time focused on Instrument Valuations and Reference Data setup. The role also requires the incumbent to support the Team Leader in delivery of varying objectives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Execution and review of Instrument, Portfolio and Trade related data across Order Management and Fund Accounting systems
    • Execution and maintenance of daily asset pricing processes (price scrubbing and execution of OTC instrument valuation models)
    • Exception management and query resolution in respect of reference data set-up and asset pricing breaks 
    • Execution of cash management, daily margin requirements and collateral management oversight
    • Form part of a team responsible for first line support in respect of data management, asset pricing and trade related queries

    Attributes Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    • BusSc /BCom Finance or equivalent with a practical understanding of components of the investment management and administration processes

    Change Facilitation Lead - Business Enablement

    Overview

    We have an exciting opportunity to join the M&G Business Enablement team as a Change Facilitation Lead- Business Enablement with key focus on Transfer Agency and Manco operations.  

    The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for the effective oversight of change delivery teams on behalf of the M&G Sales, Product and MANCO business units. This will include ensuring the priority of the respective changes reflect the stakeholder’s priority accordingly. The applicant will also manage the budget request and spend for the applicable stakeholder list of changes.

    In addition to this, the applicant will be managing the change delivery and operational oversight of the key global Manco outsource vendor relationships for M&G Investments. You are a resourceful and analytical person who can work with multiple teams in finding appropriate solutions for the M&G business.

    Key Responsibilities

    Business Analysis and Project Management Oversight

    • Engaging M&G Change Delivery Teams for resource allocation

    Perform High-Level analysis of changes to inform the requirements such as:

    • Ability to clearly express and document stakeholder needs
    • Ability to understand appropriate use of various analysis techniques and approaches

    Project Management oversight, including planning and tracking for selected changes, where applicable

    • Liaising with M&G Change Delivery Teams on implementation of project change into the business
    • Ownership and representation of the M&G Sales, Product and MANCO functions within change implementation framework
    • Ensuring that appropriate project governance processes are followed, including suitable project artefacts and appropriate sign-offs are adhered to.

    Oversight and management of the change delivery by key outsource vendor arrangements – namely, State Street, FNZ, and Waystone including;

    • Responsibility for defining operational requirements for implementation and ongoing maintenance of new products or service requirements, where applicable
    • Establishment and nurture of close relationships with various teams, across multiple jurisdictions, to address any operational issues promptly
    • Ensuring effective management/controls of key performance indicators as set out by the service level agreements (SLAs) where applicable, including
      • Co-ordination and review of service level agreements between the different parties
      • Ensuring the terms agreed in the SLA are disseminated and executed with internal and external vendor teams
    • Management of key deliverables and ensuring swift responses to business queries/issues
    • Continued review of processes and procedures to reduce risk and improve efficiencies
    • Assist with the implementation of new products, new instruments, or new service requirements, where applicable

    Attributes Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    • An appropriate tertiary qualification. Bachelor’s degree or higher
    • Existing transfer agency industry knowledge
    • At least 5 years relevant working experience in asset management or administration providers to the asset management function
    • Understanding of CISCA and local Unit Trust environment
    • Business analysis/Project management experience
    • Experience preparing management information presentations would be advantageous
    • MS Office skillset, in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint
