    Product Quality Inspector - Inline

    Position Overview

    • To act as part of the production team with the collective responsibility for the ensuring that the quality function is maintained within the production environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Inline inspection of new builds according to fermel’s procedures.
    • Inspect welding reworks and paint touch up. (Must meet fermel’s standard).
    • Must be able to analyze drawings and quality reports.
    • Ensure all instruments are calibrated.
    • Verify all torque settings and dimensional inspections.
    • Ensure creep lines are marked accordingly.
    • Report all internal and supplier quality related issues.
    • Report all constraints which may affect the completion of the required task.
    • Make quality calls that are in line with fermel and the customer acceptance level.
    • Initiate Nonconformance reports for all concerns and ensure a timely closure based on data provided.
    • Drive quality in production assembly and ensure that reworks are eliminated.
    • Must be able to utilize TQM tools to investigate all NCR’s.
    • Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
    • Hand over the vehicle for Pre-delivery Inspection after initial checks have been concluded
    • Encourage artisans to report on all Quality related issues.
    • Ensure all QCP/ITP are compiled and approved by relevant personnel.
    • Ensure all Databook’s are prepared.
    • Ensure all Databook’s are scanned and made available on system.
    • Housekeeping and Files arranged accordingly.

    PERFORMANCE MEASURES/ SUCCESS CRITERIA

    • Resolution of Quality concerns in a timely manner not to affect production output.
    • Effective management of meetings between affected parties.
    • Managing conflict between affected parties.
    • Decision making on liability of defect.
    • Effective managing of suspect parts.
    • Assist and investigate CAR’s on ongoing basis
    • Successful campaign managing to resolve defective parts on vehicles.
    • Eliminating cost of poor quality.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES (KSA)

    • Ability to read and analyses drawings.
    • Working knowledge of manufacturing environment relating to (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery)
    • Knowledge of Total Quality Management tools.
    • Fault finding ability and root cause analysis.
    • Maintaining records of inspection.

    Required Skills and Capabilities

    • Trade tested artisan. (Mechanical fitter)
    • Total Quality Management Diploma. (Beneficial)
    • Understanding of the fundamentals of ISO9001-2015
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills & team player.
    • Ability to read and use measuring equipment’s.
    • Ability to plan and manage time effectively.
    • 7+ years’ technical experience in Quality Control Environment.

    • Quality assurance consideration

      Key Areas of Responsibility:

    • Provide calculated hydraulic engineering design solutions and advice
    • Research and partial Product development.
    • Vehicle Design calculations from first principals.
    • Present Hydraulic schematics as complete designs and ensure that designs are within budget constraints
    • Project documentation e.g. Engineering Change Procedures, Engineering Drawings, etc.
    • Follow through with projects from concept phase through to production and implementation.
    • Constant interaction with other departments.
    • Ensure deadlines are met timeously.

    Mechatronic Engineer - Alberton

    Requirements:

    • Tech / B.Sc / B.Eng degree in mechatronic or electronic engineering recognised by ECSA.
    • Experience in control system software development
    • Experience in HMI development
    • Experience with digital control systems
    • Experience with different control system communication protocols
    • Understanding of hydraulic control circuits
    • Understanding of auto electric control circuits
    • Ability to work without direct supervision
    • Own transport

    Beneficial experience:

    • Experience in vehicle software development
    • Experience with VSD / motor control
    • Experience with electrical vehicles
    • Understanding of trackless drivetrains
    • Experience with IOT
    • Experience with autonomous systems
    • Experience within a trackless mining environment
    • Experience within a manufacturing environment
    • Project management capabilities
    • Understanding of CAN bus
    • Understanding of CodeSys
    • Understanding of Danfoss Plus+1 Guide
    • Experience with Collison Avoidance System (CAS)

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

    • Develop new control software for machines
    • Updating and improvement of current control software
    • Development of machine specific diagnostic interface programs for field service technicians
    • Commissioning and fault finding on new machines
