    Lead Network Engineer

    The main responsibilities of this job are:

    • Assist in the development and implementation of the Regional Information Services Networking and Communications Strategy.
    • Provide tactical and strategic direction regarding networking technologies to business units
    • Provide direction, manage and be accountable for the effective operational delivery of Infrastructure - networking Center of Excellence, including management of technical teams and team members.
    • Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to Systems Analysts, Systems Engineers, other Systems Architects, and software development teams.
    • Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in systems architecture, budgeting, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
    • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost-effectiveness and systems flexibility.
    • Document the company’s existing systems architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives.
    • Confer with end-users, clients, or senior management to define business requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development.
    • Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
    • Develop and manage a systems capacity plan.
    • Alignment with business partners and vendors and ensure that Sappi is aware
    • of, and aligned to, their strategies and product roadmaps
    • Develop, document, communicate and enforce a policy for standardising systems and software as necessary

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • Minimum of an IT-related diploma and MCSE/MCSD or ACNT or relevant Network Certifications
    • IT-related degree or equivalent would be advantageous
    • 5-8 Years of experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, and Firewalls.
    • Advanced skills in planning, designing and troubleshooting complex network environments
    • Experience in designing and implementing enterprise network solutions in data centre and branch office environments including routing, switching and wireless LAN technologies; application networking and delivery technologies (data centre server and global load balancing solutions); WAN, Internet connectivity & related technologies (SD-WAN, MPLS, IPSEC VPN, WAN Optimizers, Rate Limiters, QoS, etc.), Network Monitoring & Management Platforms
    • Core expert knowledge of WAN products and solutions (HP, Aruba and Microtek routing protocols and features (MP-BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP etc
    • Proficiency in Load Balancing technologies (Citrix, F5 etc.), DNS (Bind, Bluecoat, Umbrella, etc.), Active Directory integration with WAN optimisation (NPS, etc.)
    • First-hand knowledge in designing network solutions to enable integration of VMWare, blade, cloud and converged network environments
    • Experience in evaluating, designing and implementing multi-vendor global WAN networks for integrated (voice, video, data) traffic using various connectivity means including SD-WAN, MPLS, IPSEC VPN and others.
    • Knowledge of perimeter security solutions technologies in the data centre and branch office environments including firewalls, remote access VPNs, IPS/IDS systems and Secure Web Gateway solutions is desirable.
    • Strong ability to document processes, procedures and network designs clearly and accurately for distribution to internal teams and customers
    • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards
    • Experience with telephony systems and VoIP
    • Excellent troubleshooting experience
    • Familiarity with legislative requirements and governance standards
    • Experience in service management beneficial

    Business Process Engineer - Information Technology

    The main responsibilities of this job are:

    Define business requirements for new IT solutions

    • Review current state processes and identify problem areas, inefficiencies and control weaknesses. Proactively identify improvement opportunities.
    • Educate/support business colleagues on current and future system capabilities/system solutions to drive continuous improvement.
    • Provide specific business area subject matter input and facilitate the development of business requirements for new or improved business and system processes.
    • Evaluate requirements against the business objectives of the specific functional area and highlight where the planned changes are misaligned.
    • Prioritise and validate requirements and obtain approval as per the agreed framework for the scope of the solution.

    Solution Design

    • Evaluate and develop solution options to present to business.
    • Develop detailed business process flows.
    • Analyse the proposed changes against existing processes.
    • Drive the development of a specific area’s functional specifications (business controls, system functions, information flows, system controls). Document business rules, the data dictionary/glossary and data models as applicable.
    • Develop the transition plans including any parallel runs, phased roll-outs and change, and communication and training plans.
    • Assist in the identification of risks and issues related to business requirements or the solution design.

    Support delivery and implementation

    • Provide input into system configuration activities.
    • Analyse the impact of a requirement or scope changes and make recommendations to the business owners on how to mitigate it.
    • Contribute to the development of the system testing approach, test cases, test data and testing scenarios (including regression and negative testing).
    • Participate in user acceptance testing.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to business owners.
    • Assist with the deployment of a structured change plan including stakeholder updates, communication, training and training manuals.

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • B Degree in Information Science or Commerce

    Management Forester - Khulisa

    The main responsibilities of this job are:

    • Assist the grower to plan the annual re-establishment program (planting & coppice regeneration), on Forcelink or microforests using TUP and reestablishment plan provided by the Planning department and place plants order with Nurseries, and execute to achieve Temporary Unplanted targets within budget constraints
    • Assist the grower/contractor to ensure maximum stocking within silvicultural standards is achieved on all reestablishment operations to optimize harvesting timber yields and profits for the growers
    • Assist the grower to put in place a service level agreement with contractor to ensure all operations comply with Sappi’s silviculture BOP and the grower/service provider is held to account for any poor quality work done.
    • Assist the grower in esuring land-preparation & re-establishment (planting and coppice) is according to Sappi’s BOP standards and quality expectations using the RMS; APO (silviculture and harvesting) to achieve Temporary Unplanted targets within budget constraint; lower risk exposure and improve efficiencies.
    • Monitor and manage plant use efficiency by tracking consumption against order including confirmed infield plantings to ensure plants are accounted for and costs within budget and ensure the grower builds appreciation of these principles
    • Assist the grower to develop an intergrated maintenance plan using silviculture and harvesting APO; TUP and the previous 3 years plantings ensure maximum plants survival and improved yields at harvest whilst keeping costs within budget
    • Assist the grower to develop a phased harvest plan per compartment using the harvesting APO working with both the grower and the contractor to ensure shared responsibility and guarantee rateable Woodfibre supply to market
    • Conduct a risk assessment per compartment pre- and interim harvesting operation to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards and ensure the grower builds appreciation of these principles
    • Monitor Woodfibre quality and production rates by conducting recorded interim operational inspections to ensure adherence to daily production targets and Mill quality specifications and ensure the grower builds appreciation of these principles
    • Monitor Woodfibre movement by keeping records of infield and depots stocks and reporting regularly to FM to ensure rateable Woodfibre supply to markets as per the different markets needs and ensure the grower builds appreciation of these principles
    • Assist the grower to develop a plantation management plan (PMP) as well as a fire risk mananagement plan to identify risks, record & implement fire control procedures in order to ensure the effective protection of people, plantation and other assets from forest fires
    • Support the development of service providers’ capacity to ensure skills transfer and supplier development

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • National Diploma in Forestry or related qualification.
    • A Degree in forestry or related qualification would be preferable.
