    programme manager - Membership and businesss development

    Job description

    Performance Areas

    Relationship and Stakeholder Management:

    • Engage with relevant stakeholders in line with unit requirements.
    • Ensure constant and relevant communication with stakeholders.
    • Find and utilise networking and other opportunities to build membership and stakeholder
    • relationships, partnerships and income retention and growth.
    • Network widely in business, sector and other circles for the benefit of the organisation.

    Fund-Raising and Business Development:

    • Research, develop, plan and implement fund-raising strategies and activities, with
    • Membership Head to expand membership and sponsorship base.
    • Preparation of member/sponsor proposals, writing and completing funding applications.
    • Explore with the NBI Management Team (which includes the Membership Head) longer-term
    • income generating plans for the organisation including major donor strategy, in-kind
    • contribution strategy targeting foreign donors, international agencies, corporate sponsors,
    • foundations, bequests.
    • In conjunction with the Membership Head prepare fund-raising budget and be responsible
    • for implementation and monitoring thereof.
    • 3. Governance, Compliance and Organisation:
    • Ensure up to date information is available on all relevant governance, legal and compliance
    • issues related to fund-raising activities.
    • Work in synchronicity with organisation’s overall strategic plan.
    • Support the integrity of the organisation’s brand and reputation.
    • Oversee the integrity and completeness of data and information in the organisation’s CRM
    • and other systems.
    • Contribute to the development of content for communication purposes.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION & TRAINING

    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in marketing and communications, or legal, or business. Advanced degree would be preferable.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the fund-raising and relationship management fields. Proven track record in an income generating role. Experience in networking and relationship building.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

    • Excellent relationship management skills
    • Excellent communications, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Sales skills would also be an advantage.
    • Proven track record in business writing and developing proposals
    • Strong organisational, attention to detail and planning skills.
    • Use of technology for messaging and communication purposes.
    • Alignment with the NBI’s values of excellence, trust, integrity, respect and commitment.
