    Smart Shopper Commercial Manager

    Job description

    Overall Purpose

    The purpose of the job is to manage the full commercial portfolio for the loyalty programme at Pick n Pay which includes working closely with buyers and suppliers to ensure that our customer continues to receive relevant offers to drive customer engagement. This role requires an outgoing strategic thinker who is comfortable with analysis and data to get the right offer to the right customer at the right time. The role will also require the incumbent to work closely with the Pick n Pay trade team to support and co-ordinate various initiatives that may require support.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key areas:

    • Analyse consumer buying patterns to build strategic trade driving campaigns.
    • Support Pick n Pay buyers and supplier in driving strategic product and category strategies. Work with Marketing and Brand teams to communicate key trading initiatives.
    • Secure targeted offers for customers working with commercial teams and suppliers.
    • Manage supplier relationships and secure funding for personalised discounts to customers through analysis and reporting.
    • Work closely with our data agency to continue driving incremental sales from target discounts. Work with Management to prioritise business & information needs.
    • Locate & define new processes that will drive improved opportunities.
    • Using innovative technology ensure you are futuristic and ahead of the game

    Skills and attributes required:

    A passion for retail. Highly strategic. Excellent communication skills. Attention to detail. Strong commercial experience. Strong analytical skills.Target driven individual.

    Minimum Education and Experience

    • Bcom/Bachelor of Science/Marketing Degree or equivalent
    • 2 - 3 years’ experience in a retail-related environment
    • 3 - 5 years as a commercial buyer, marketing manager or brand manager
    • Good track record of working on projects/tasks with high complexity
    • Knowledge of communication information systems as well as innovative technology
    • Highly strategic with a proven background in buying, strategy, shopper marketing, campaign management or similar
    • Strong Computer Literacy: Excel, Word & PowerPoint
