Planning, design and implementation of an overall risk management process for the organisation;
Facilitation of the high level risk assessment process, which involves analysing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business;
Risk evaluation, including the reporting on progress with mitigating controls;
Establishing and quantifying the 'risk appetite' of the business/business unit
Risk reporting in an appropriate way for different levels of management within the operation. E.g.: To the exec/board to highlight the most significant risks, to Ops/General managers to ensure they are aware of risks relevant to their business unit and to individuals to understand their accountability for individual risks;
Entrench the enterprise wide risk management process through the identification and implementation of an IT based Governance, Risk and Compliance system, at the appropriate time, in collaboration with the Ethics and Compliance department.
Review of ancillary processes such as the insurance programme, business continuity plans and disaster recovery plans/tests, to limit risks;
Liaison with internal and external auditors relative to the risk management function;
Providing support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organisation.
Participates in the development of the Barloworld Group risk management policy and Risk Management Plan
Involvement with business units to ensure sound risk identification in new projects and with the acquisitions (and disposal) of operations.
Management of a multi-disciplinary risk management forum to facilitate understanding and communication of the risk environment within the business.
