General Worker at City of Tshwane

Job Purpose

• To provide physical labour-related functions regarding the operation and maintenance of water and sanitation networks

Application Requirements:

• Ability to perform duties
• Basic literacy
• Relevant general cleaning duty experience will be an added advantage
• Physical fitness and health
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Personal Attributes/ Competencies:

• Ability to understand and follow given instructions; willingness to accept responsibility; ability to work as a team member or independently; good communication and listening skills; ability to make real-time work-related decisions

Primary Functions :

• Perform physical functions such as digging trenches, backfilling trenches and breaking and mixing concrete
• Dig holes and trenches and spread excavated materials, sand, soil and gravel using handheld tools
• Sort, load, unload, move, stack and store materials, equipment, products, supplies, baggage and cargo by hand
• Clean and maintain the area, office, terrain, vehicles, facilities, gardens and equipment to ensure housekeeping as well as a safe and healthy environment for employees
• Clean machinery, equipment, tools and work sites and remove obstructions
• Clean the site after completing operations
