Health & Safety Manager at Cape Herb & Spice

Objectives of this role

• This position gives focus to ensuring HSE compliance at shopfloor level, implementing and reviewing systems, procedures, and policies, and providing monthly performance reporting.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the implementation, updating, review and auditing of the Company HSE systems.
• Ensures the effective implementation of HSE system procedures across our sites.
• Conducts safety audits both internal and external.
• Conducts accident / incident investigations and handles any related COID claims.
• Carries out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
• Provides technical support to Senior Management on any safety related subjects.
• Carries out safety audits on sub-contractors.
• Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
• Provides safety related input into new projects and modification programs.
• Chairs the HSE Committee.
• Performs risk assessments.
• Updates HSE statistics and prepares monthly HSE reports.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Relevant related qualification (Degree/Diploma)
• 3 years+ experience as SHEQ Manager
• Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation in South Africa e.g., OHSACT and COID ACT and other relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite particularly Excel
• Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies.
• Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
