Job Purpose

• The Housekeeping team will be responsible for providing services that support the delivery of the Hospitality Strategy and business objectives at the business unit, partnering with key stakeholders to create great customer experiences for guest visiting our properties; contributing to the growing of hospitality revenues, minimising wastage, achieving operational governance and service standards, and encouraging innovative solutions, in line with Sun standards and regulations.
• The Houseman as part of the housekeeping team will be responsible for a range of activities ensuring the hotel is kept clean, sanitized and well-stocked with amenities.
• This will include the stacking of trollies with clean linen and amenities, the removal of used linen to be laundered; the cleaning of windows in both rooms and public areas; assisting with the cleaning and moving of equipment and furniture in rooms and public areas, in line with Sun standards and regulations in order to provide a memorable and comfortable experience for guests while maintaining a friendly, professional attitude, addressing all guest queries politely and knowledgeably and providing superb customer service to our guests.

Key Performance Areas

• Clean, dust and mop floors in the various public areas of the hotel by using a variety of equipment and supplies
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets accordingly
• Wipe down furniture, equipment and décor using appropriate cleaning materials
• Empty dustbins and ashtrays and make sure that all trash is properly disposed off
• Clean and wash down windows and ensure that they are dried properly
• Wash down restrooms and ensure they are sanitized properly
• Replenish soap, toilet paper, hand towels in bathrooms on a regular basis
• Wipe down walls, doors and wall hangings using appropriate types of cleaners and cloth
• Restocking toiletries and other items in guest rooms such as shampoo, conditioner, and lotion
• Replacing light bulbs and cleaning windowsills, baseboards, and door frames
• Providing guests with turndown service at night, which includes making sure that the room is ready for sleeping and that any requested items are available
• Cleaning and sanitizing public areas such as lobbies, stairwells, lounges, kitchens, and conference rooms
• Making up rooms that have been vacated by guests who have checked out of the hotel
• Check all chemical levels and inventory for cleaning
• Clean all soiled equipment items; and record any breakages
• Comply with health, safety, hygiene and environmental regulations
• Use and store operating equipment in line with specifications and safety regulations
• Resolve or report on any anomalies to the required standards
• Identify and report any maintenance issues identified
• Report missing/found articles, damage or merchandise issues to the Assistant Housekeeper
• Connect with all clients by providing them with a warm welcome, greeting them with a friendly smile, acknowledging them, and ensuring respect at all times
• Interact with clients and provide professional service standards and relevant solutions
• Handle any complaints, requests and / or suggestions to resolution, escalating if necessary

Job Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 

Experience

• Previous hotel-related experience desired
