Role Purpose/Business Unit:
- The People Capability Specialist supports the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Capability development initiatives across the organisation.
- This role ensures that employees have access to the right learning opportunities, tools, and experiences to build critical skills, drive performance, and contribute to the organization’s growth as a skills-based enterprise.
- The People Capability Specialist collaborate closely with stakeholders to act as a bridge between the Capability team and business units, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
Capability Development & Skills Focus
- Partner with the People Capability Manager and conduct comprehensive development needs assessments in collaboration with business leaders and employees.
- Partner with the People Capability Manager and support the design and delivery of capability-building programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, and human centred enhancement. ensuring alignment with business objectives and talent needs.
- Partner with HR and business leaders to identify current and future skill needs, Support the transition to a skills-based organisation by integrating skills taxonomies into learning pathways.
- Partner with the People Capability Manager to facilitate workshops and coaching sessions to drive knowledge sharing.
- Assist in maintaining and evolving the organisation’s skills matrix and capability frameworks.
Learning Design and Delivery
- Design and implement agile, digital-first learning solutions aligned to business needs
- Contribute to the design and curation of learning content, including workshops, digital learning, and social learning experiences that supports technical and behavioural skills.
- Leverage AI, automation and emerging tech to enhance learning effectiveness and scalability
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the relevance and accuracy of content.
- Embed social and experiential learning into development programs
- Facilitate and support the delivery of capability programs across the business.
Stakeholder Engagement and Business alignment
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, HRBP, and external learning providers.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on learning pathways, career development, and upskilling opportunities.
- Act as a trusted advisor on learning trends, ensuring initiatives align with strategic priorities
- Promote a culture of self-directed learning and career development
Performance Measurement and Reporting
- Track and report on the effectiveness of capability initiatives, using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Support the collection and analysis of learning metrics, including participation, completion rates, and skill development outcomes.
- Make recommendations for continuous improvement based on evaluation data and changing business needs.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Stay up to date with trends in Capability development, including digital learning, skills-based talent management, and workforce transformation.
- Contribute to the design of innovative learning solutions that enhance employee experience and business performance.
Learning Technology Integration
- Utilize learning management systems (LMS) and other technologies to enhance training delivery and tracking.
- Research and stay updated on emerging learning technologies and trends to continuously improve the Capability offerings.
Learning Analytics and Insights
- Use data and insights to measure learning impact and continuously improve programs
- Track engagement, performance shifts and ROI of learning initiatives
- Provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance learning strategies
- Maintain accurate records of training activities, participation, and outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports on training effectiveness and impact
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Matric / Grade 12 essential
- 3 year Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organisational Development, or a relevant field is essential.
- Diploma in Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development Practices (ODETDP) (Advantageous).
- 3–5 years’ experience within Capability development, Learning & Development and Talent Development.
- Tech proficiency: Familiarity with digital learning platforms, AI powered learning tools and modern L&D ecosystems
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
- Experience in capability development, learning and development, or HR within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong understanding of capability frameworks, skills matrices, and workforce planning.
- Proficiency in learning design tools and platforms, including Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to analyse skills data and translate insights into actionable Capability solutions.
- Knowledge of modern learning methodologies (e.g., microlearning, blended learning, on-the-job learning).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple capability initiatives concurrently.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in capability development, including AI, digital skills, and skills-based talent management.
