A BTech or first degree (preferable in economic development and urban management)
Three to five years’ relevant experience in the specialist professional functions related to the informal, local area economic development, urban management and implementation of projects and programmes. ( see KPA’s)
Sound knowledge of related statutory, legislative policies and procedures.
Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite
A valid driver’s licence.
Required to work off site/ conduct site visits in the metropolitan area (in all weather conditions, high risk areas and may be required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime

Key Performance Areas
Provide professional input and guidance to develop and implement Area Economic Development (AED) programmes and projects with regard to the informal economy, urban management and improvement.
Coordinate and execute assigned AED interventions with district specific challenges by reviewing the business plans, assessing and evaluating AED project proposals and applications, making recommendations and provide guidelines to other directorates.
Implementation, monitoring and reporting of District projects and programmes for efficient delivery of economic development business plan objectives
Enabling the alignment and integration of AED operations by facilitating projects together with other departments, serving on project teams and support and assist in the execution of joint operations for urban revitalisation programmes and initiatives.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with all relevant stakeholders and provide specialist AED opinion, advice and information.
Perform administrative and reporting duties by monitoring budget allocations, implement supply chain management processes and preparing reports.
