    Information Governance Specialist

    What will you do?
    A position for an Information Analyst exists in the Santam Re Operations team, based at Santam Re’s Bellville (Cape Town) offices.

    This role will be responsible for supporting the Information Governance Specialist and the Business Unit (BU) Information Managers across the Santam Group in operationalising, troubleshooting and improving data governance processes, and recommend & support the implementation of data and information enhancement initiatives. 
    We are looking for an individual with experience in translating information strategy and policies & standards into processes, including creating the artefacts & mechanisms to enable process operationalisation.
    They will assist in the development of data related solutions to improve the BU data quality and financial/operational performance. This includes analysing business processes & determining how they can be improved or better supported by data and defining specifications of required reports and dashboards to monitor data quality.
    The person fulfilling this role will also define/develop new reports for regulatory and financial reporting and will be responsible for identifying and maintaining data lineage and the data catalogue.

    What will make you successful in this role?
    PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE: 

    • Translate the IM strategy and SIMA/Board approved data policies & standards into data governance processes and develop/support the development of supporting process artefacts & mechanisms
    • Assist Information Managers in performing impact assessment of policies and standards on Business Units  
    • Define specifications for additional requirements and architectures to support data governance
    • Assist BU/Divisional Information Managers and Information Governance Specialist in the development of data related solutions to improve their BU data quality and financial/operational performance.
    • Support BU Information Managers in the identification of BU- and initiative specific data subject areas, data journeys, Data Owners and Data Stewards
    • Stay current on industry practices and trends in the short-term insurance and digital environments and contribute innovative ideas and design of long-term, sustainable information related solutions
    • Participate in quality assurance, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as well as demos and training of new IM related solutions
    • Support the Information Governance Specialist in driving data literacy initiatives, providing training and measuring the effectiveness 
    • Define/develop new reports for regulatory and financial reporting
    • Identify and maintain data lineage and data catalogue

    Qualification and Experience

    • Relevant Tertiary qualification or certificate/diploma in business/data analysis from an industry-recognised training institution
    • Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma would be highly recommended
    • DAMA Certified Data Management Professional Practice (CDMP), preferably practitioner level, would be highly recommended
    • CBAP Certification will be advantageous
    • 5 years relevant experience as a Business Analyst
    • 3 years’ relevant experience in Data Analysis
    • 3 years relevant experience as a Project Manager
    • 2 years’ relevant experience in Business Process Management
    • MS SQL knowledge and experience 
    • Experience in a short-term insurance environment would be advantageous

    Technical Underwriter

    What will make you successful in this role?
    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Compiling, updating and reviewing of policy wordings, conditions etc. 
    • Responsible to give sound claims advice both from a legal and underwriting perspective. 
    • Responsible to give sound Personal Lines underwriting advice both from a legal and underwriting perspective. 
    • Responsible for adherence to all regulatory requirements within the Personal Lines Underwriting department.
    • Responsible for Personal Lines Head Office referrals on PolicyCenter.
    • Identify underwriting trends and address pro-actively to mitigate the risk.
    • Research and find ways to utilize data sources to automate processes and eliminate the amount of information required from brokers/clients.
    • Collaborate with Claims staff to identify and resolve any issues around Personal Lines claims settlement.
    • Assist with transfer of skills to Personal Lines Staff/Brokers by means of Technical Workshops.
    • Assist with special Personal Lines projects as and when required.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Grade 12
    • AIISA or comparable short term insurance qualification
    • FAIS compliant
    • Min of 10 years’ experience in Personal Lines Underwriting
    • Report writing experience

    Claims Handler: Motor Liability

    What will you do?
    Santam Specialist Claims Services has a position available for a CLAIMS HANDLER who will be based in BELLVILLE, GLACIER BUILDING.

    The position requires the skills of a dynamic individual who has experience in Short Term Insurance, specifically in a Legal, Claims environment, as well as being fully competent in the third party indemnification process.

    The Internal Santam Claims Handler is responsible for managing a portfolio of insured recovery and indemnity claims end to end, including Santam, OB and Brolink (underwritten by Santam) claims. The individual will be responsible for ensuring correct settlement application on these claims as well as the requisite financial transactions associated therewith.  The Internal Santam Claims Handler will also be responsible for managing the relationships between claims support specialists of OB and Brolink (underwritten by Santam) respectively.  

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Liaising with claims specialists of the underwriters forming part of the Santam Internal Claims agreement and ensuring the correct claims are linked 
    • Conducting detailed investigation on the merits and quantum to establish negligence
    • Attending to escalations from other insurers and client queries where necessary

    • Closure of claims.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Matric
    • 3-5 years short-term insurance experience
    • Additional short-term insurance-related qualifications will be an advantage.

    • Comprehensive short-term procedural and practice knowledge (especially related to Motor Vehicle Accidents)
    • Comprehensive policy knowledge
    • Comprehensive applicable legislative knowledge as well as the law of evidence and principles in law (e.g., law of apportionment of damages)
