    Senior Administrative Assistant - Department of Student Affairs

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidates’ responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    Reception and administration support:

    • Receiving students and assisting accordingly;
    • Providing guidance and referral for students as required;
    • Maintaining a comprehensive document creation and record management system;
    • Facilitating permissions for campus access for visitors of the department;
    • Overall administration and planning of staff meetings (venue/facilities bookings, announcements, documentation, agenda setting, taking minutes, compiling and distributing of minutes, etc.); 

    Financial administration and procurement:  

    • Compiling financial administration information for referral to the manager in order to draft budgets;
    • Monitoring budget usage and reporting to management;

    Student finance support:

    • Liaising with the UP-Student Finance Division in connection with NSFAS Disability Bursary, and other external bursaries;
    • Assisting students in submitting online applications and claims for the NSFAS Disability Bursary;
    • Assisting qualifying students with conversion from NSFAS general to the Disability bursary;

    Student support:

    • Coordinating the registration process of students on ADIS’ database;
    • Liaising with TuksRes for appropriate placement of students with disabilities;
    • Assisting with administrative processes for students to loan equipment (Assistive devices and laptops, etc.);

    Occupational Health and Safety support:

    • Attending central Occupational Health and Safety meetings;
    • Coordinating arrangements for physical accessibility in lecture venues;
    • Maintaining a healthy and safe work environment for personnel, students and visitors at the ADIS;
    • Coordinating of “injury on duty” procedure at the centre.

    Senior Disability Officer - Department of Student Affairs

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidates’ responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

    Coordination of accessible formal assessments for students with disabilities:

    • Coordinating the process of accessible formal assessments for students with disabilities within the Access, Disability and Inclusion Services (ADIS), and liaising with faculties and professional services departments;
    • Providing input and support to academic and professional services staff regarding the implementation of concessions approved for assessments for students with disabilities;

    Senior Systems Analyst and Developer (PeopleSoft) - Department of Information Technology Services

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Configuration, customisation, development, integration and testing of relevant PeopleSoft modules:
    • System configuration and design:

    Interact with key system stakeholders to:

    • Understand current business needs, processes, procedures, policies, and/or problems in specific business domains; 
    • Gather and document stakeholder requirements, concerns and problem areas, and model potential improved business processes;
    • Assist functional users in translating business needs into functional specifications and in formulating the business case for undertaking desired developments, enhancements and/or customisations;
    • Analyse the needs/problems investigated and functional specifications and formulate alternative possible solutions to address these needs, and translate functional specifications into technical designs and/or system configuration;

    Layout and design of files where system customisations/extensions are required:

    Programming:

    System testing and preparation for migration:

    • Define testing milestones;

    • Check that the outcome corresponds with the specifications for the relevant system development or system change;
    • Ensure that the integration between the programs is correct and that it is executed correctly as a unit. Develop system interfaces which comply with the principles of best practice for system integration;
    • Assist functional users with functional testing - including compilation of testing scenarios and test data, and recording of issues encountered during testing;

    User support: 

    • Provide support to functional leads with regard to applications functioning in the specific PeopleSoft business domain in which the incumbent is competent;
    • Assist where possible in the development of relevant end-user training material, and, where requested, in the actual training of end-users;
    • Transfer knowledge to other UP staff involved in the management and deployment of the PeopleSoft system;

    • Facilitate regular meetings with other team members and relevant stakeholders to ensure that milestones are met, and planned activities are completed successfully and in time;
    • Ensure appropriate system documentation is prepared and maintained and oversee configuration, monitoring and tuning of the implemented solutions
    • Monitor and research new technologies, “tools”, and techniques to address business requirements;

    System implementation:

    • Define implementation milestones; prepare an implementation plan documenting the steps in the deployment process and projects to be migrated, tables to be built, etc, and coordinate the actions of the various parties in deploying to production;
    • Assist functional users in configuring (and maintaining configuration of) the relevant PeopleSoft application, and offer the necessary support in respect of users' access to the respective system functions and post-deployment support; 
    • Arrange for and obtain confirmation from users that implementation was successful;

    System maintenance and upgrades:

    • Monitor releases of patches, bundles and maintenance packs and new versions issued by Oracle (of relevance to the domain being managed);
    • Provide technical guidance to colleagues, team members, and system administrators regarding bundles and upgrades;
    • Investigate feasible cutover/transition strategies to ensure business continuity during upgrades;
    • Advise management on feasible alternatives and/or changes to existing architecture, infrastructure and/or strategies which will be in best interest of the University to establish a well governed and managed suite of PeopleSoft applications.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. B.Sc., B.Comm Informatics, B. Eng.), with:

    Department of Finance: Senior Financial Analyst

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

    • Responsible for any new payroll codes requests and thorough testing of the parameters within the systems;
    • Conduct quality checks of tax deductions, tax register and IRP5 balances to ensure accuracy of tax calculations within the systems;
    • Manage payroll system programs and parameters for calculation of statutory and tax calculations of salary runs;
    • Balance and submit Monthly tax payments (EMP201). Checking and confirmation of payments;

    Clinical Assistant: Reproduction - Department of Production Animal Studies

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will actively participate in the following areas:-

    • Registering for and pursuing a postgraduate degree in MMedVet (Reproduction) with the view to complete the specialist training in reproduction of domestic animals and to obtain the degree within the prescribed time;
    • Actively participating in the clinical/experiential training of veterinary and veterinary nursing students while rendering services in the clinics of the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital, on farms and in satellite clinics;

    Full Professor: Department of Mercantile Law (One Post) - Faculty of Law

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in programmes on offer in the Department of Mercantile Law;

    Department of Science, Mathematics and Technology Education: Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor - Computer Integrated Education

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • The curriculum development of and lecturing of modules in the programme(s) based in the department;

    ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR:

    • PhD in the field of Computer Integrated Education / Educational Technology;
    • At least five years of tertiary or related teaching experience;
    • Experience in curriculum development and innovation;
    • At least 11 accredited publications (journals, book chapters, Books) of which 4 should be in a mix of internationally and nationally accredited journals, 3 publications should be sole-authored;
    • At least 6 students supervised to completion at Masters or Doctoral level.
    • Proof of (inter)national peer recognition (citations, keynote/plenary addresses);
    • Proven research funding success;
    • Active international collaborations;
    • International conference presentations;
    • Community engagement in a related field;
    • Academic citizenship – external examination/article reviews etc;
    • Active membership of (inter)national scholarly bodies;
    • Recommended: H Index (4 and above), NRF rating, an active Orcid-ID;
