    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer: Department Psychology

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Psychology.
    • Provide study guidance and supervision to final year and postgraduate students.
    • Provide clinical supervision to students in the Applied Master’s Programme.
    • Initiate and conduct high-level research and sustain quality research outputs.
    • Contribute towards creating a strong academic identity for the department.
    • Contribute to programme development and curriculum review within the department and faculty.
    • Participate in community engagement initiatives where possible.
    • Recruit senior students for postgraduate study.
    • Perform organisational and administrative duties. 

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    Lecturer

    • A PhD in Psychology or related discipline on NQF Level 10 (for a permanent appointment) 
    • or
    • Master’s degree in Psychology or related discipline on NQF Level 9 (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in Psychology or related discipline MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position). 
    • Three (3) years registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist.
    • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
    • Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.

    Senior Lecturer

    Senior Officer: Registered Counsellor (post level 9)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Act in accordance with the scope of practice and ethical guidelines for a registered counsellor as set out by the HPCSA / ASCHP.
    • Provide confidential counselling in various psychological, emotional, and developmental issues, with the aim to support students in the resolution of challenges that may impede the fulfilment of their potential.
    • Equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and tools to effectively overcome their personal and academic challenges and to become well-rounded, optimally developed students.

    • Registration as a Registered Counsellor with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and / or with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP).
    • A minimum of Two (2) years’ relevant working experience related to the duties and responsibilities.

    Housekeeping Manager (post level 12)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Manage cleaning staff and housekeeping processes in appointed UFS accommodation categories.
    • Administer and manage the supplies and apparatus in appointed accommodation categories.
    • Report and the follow up on maintenance requests in appointed accommodation categories.
    • Manage and perform tasks with regard to conferences at a basic level, where applicable. This entails the cleaning and making of beds in good time.

    Professional Physiotherapist (contract appointment: 8 hours per week for 32 weeks)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the clinical supervision of 3rd and 4th year students on the academic platform.
    • Provide learning opportunities to the students in the clinical area.
    • Involved in the evaluation of the students not only during the clinical rotations, but also during clinical tests and examinations as determined by the Department of Physiotherapy.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide Psychotherapy and counselling with regards to personal, social, emotional and career development.
