    Assest Administration Officer (Irene (Ap))

    Description

    Asset Control

    • Keep a record of quarterly asset count and recording of new assets.
    • Asset safeguarding.
    • Determine the safety of all assets.

    Asset Safeguarding

    • Determine the safety of all assets monthly.
    • Regular inspections to check safety in buildings.

    Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

    • Do follow up on all OHS decisions.
    • Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.

    Ad hoc

    • Management “counts, verifies, and identifies” all capital assets.
    • Ensure compliance with ARC policies, asset management Acts and Policies, i.e., receiving and barcoding of the new assets.
    • Monthly asset verification and disposals.
    • Update and reconcile the inventory control sheet by agreeing with the fixed asset register.
    • Update the fixed asset register on the system with relevant information.
    • Compile the list of disposable assets that are not usable.
    • Assist in any other asset-related duties.
    • Ensure documents are properly filed and stored in a safe place.
    • Ability to work under pressure to meet all set deadlines related to assets.

    Requirements

    • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with accounting as a major subject.
    • Diploma in Logistics or related filed will be an added advantage.
    • 2 to 3 years relevant job experience.
    • Knowledge of administrative processes.
    • Proficiency in Ms Office suite.
    • Driver’s license Code 8 or 10 will be an added advantage.
    • Adhere to OHS Regulations.
    • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to perform routine work.
    • Well-developed interpersonal skills.

    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • In possession of a drivers licence.

    Admin Assistant-Elsenburg (Elsenburg)

    Description

    Administrative (secretariat) office services

    • Ensure various administrative tasks for the ARC-Irene laboratories and Elsenburg personnel, including diary control, etc.
    • Meetings: arrangements, agendas, attendance registers, minutes, relevant documents, venues, and refreshments when needed.
    • Copier/Printer: Monitor responsible usage, Stationery controlled with project numbers.

    Procurement

    • Ensure travel arrangements, SAGE X3 requisitions, quotations, bookings, orders, tickets, GRNs and invoices.
    • Stationery: manage, orders, monthly stock count, issue on SAGE X3.
    • Petty Cash: withdrawals, approvals for purchases, summaries, budget sheets, requisitions, slips, control, purchases.
    • Procurement: all requisitions on SAGE X3, queries, quotations, orders, invoices and GRNs. Liaise with suppliers. Compile submissions as needed.
    • Follow up weekly on outstanding invoices for (Elsenburg, Irene Institute and other
    • Institutes). Preparation of the test reports immediately after a job has been completed by the laboratory.
    • Allocate the payments with the correct invoices for (Elsenburg, Irene and other Institutes)

    Labware and Test reports

    • Generate reports using LIMS (Labware).
    • Constantly liaise with laboratory clients.

    Wellness, occupational health, and safety

    • Social events: assists with arrangements, purchases, and preparations.
    • First aid kits, fire-extinguisher services, raising awareness, cooperating with Glen wellness group.

    Requirements

    • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with 5 years administrative experience.
    • Administration/Secretarial Diploma will be an added advantage.
    • Experience in working on ESS, Labware and SAGE.
    • Prior experience in project administration will be beneficial.
    • Good Interpersonal skills.
    • Telephone etiquette.
    • Proficiency in MS Office,
    • Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to deliver excellent customer service, externally and internally as well as maintaining confidentiality.
    • Experience in handling multiple tasks.
    • Ability to make informed decisions quickly and execute those decisions with confidence.

    Senior Research/Research-Forage Breeding (Cedara)

    Description

    • Initiates, manages and contributes towards national/ international forage breeding initiatives.
    • Actively sources new national/ international research opportunities including writing research proposals.
    • Build and maintain international and national relationships and networking opportunities
    • Plan and coordinate research with single or multi-disciplinary team.

    Requirements

    Senior Researcher

    • PhD degree in Plant Breeding with Five (5) years post PhD relevant experience in plant breeding
    • Minimum of 12 peer reviewed publications at date of appointment.
    • Proven record of plant breeders rights generated and new cultivars registered.
    • Proven record of accomplishment for generating external income.
    • Proven record of initiating national projects and participation in international projects.
    • Proven record of exposure and use of biotechnology applications to marker-assisted selection and modern breeding technologies and Biometrical Genetics.
    • Practical experience and technical knowledge of appropriate research projects, financial and human resource management.
    • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
    • Generates income from commercialisation of ARC IP for financially sustainable research teams
    • Experience in technology transfer through popular and peer-reviewed articles, presentations, and demonstrations.
    • Demonstrated ability to attract external research funds and collaboration.

    Researcher

    • PhD degree or an MSc plus a minimum of 3 years working experience as a plant breeder.
    • Proven record of contributing to the development of plant breeders rights and new cultivars registered.
    • A publication record with a minimum of 2 scientific publications already published with a record of additional work in progress.
    • Record of presenting research at national and/or international conferences.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proven record of exposure and use of biotechnology applications to marker-assisted selection and modern breeding technologies and Biometrical Genetics.
    • Proven record of generating research funding and collaborations.
    • Proven experience in working with large teams and on multiple projects at the same time.
    • Proven track record of PhD and/or MSc student supervision in relevant fields of study.
    • Must have a Driver’s license Code 8 or 10.
