    Technical Asset Manager

    • AltGen is looking for a skilled Technical Asset Manager to join an IPP based in Cape Town. The role will oversee the construction and operations of new utility-scale assets, performance of an existing C&I portfolio, with a focus on analysing performance, addressing underperformance, and driving operational improvements.

    Responsibilities:

    Technical

    • Overall responsibility for maximising the technical performance of all solar assets in the company’s portfolio, with a proactive approach to operational improvement.
    • Analyse solar and BESS asset performance using SCADA and meteorological data to identify underperformance and support O&M teams in resolving root causes promptly.
    • Review and approve (in conjunction with LTA/OE) all construction-related milestones.
    • Ensure works are completed by EPC Contractor and Operator on time and in line with relevant contract obligations, including quality control.
    • Report to various shareholders and lenders on technical aspects of construction and operational assets.
    • Assess a range of technical, health, safety and environmental requirements and ensure compliance through timely corrective actions.
    • Assistance in the negotiation of EPC & O&M contracts representing the Employer’s interests as required.
    • Periodic site visits during construction and operations of the portfolio.
    • Troubleshoot performance-related and other technical issues during construction and operation, and engage with Contractor/Operator and LTA/OE to propose and implement solutions.

    Administrative/Operational

    • Manage and enforce various technical obligations of Contractors, Operators and other directly contracted sub-contractors for all SOLA managed project companies.
    • Coordinate with the Operators to ensure all service provider obligations under the BESS Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) are met.
    • Review all construction related documentation including design reports, drawings construction policies and monthly reports.
    • Ensure performance related obligations (eg. PR guarantees, BESS round-trip efficiency, cycle analysis, availability) of various service providers are met on time and reviewed for accuracy.
    • Monthly, quarterly and annual consolidation of portfolio performance (PR, availability etc) against actual and forecast.
    • Coordinate and manage H&S and ECO audits of project companies during construction and operations (as required).
    • Drive operational effi ciency of projects and business processes.
    • Represent the Employer’s interest in any claims (contractual disputes, warranty, insurance etc.)

    Interpersonal

    • Ongoing communication with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Point of contact for all Technical Advisors contracted with the project companies (LTA/OE).
    • Present project and portfolio performance results to shareholders/directors in a concise and well considered manner at board meetings.
    • Report on various HSE metrics to relevant stakeholders.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
    • Minimum 4 years experience in construction and operational phases of utility scale Solar, BESS or Wind
    • Experience in negotiating or administering EPC and O&M agreements for renewable energy projects

    Sales Manager C&I Storage

    Qualifications:

    • Proven track record of delivering storage solutions within the C&I PV+BESS segment.
    • Engineering qualification preferred; alternatively, a business administration qualification.
    • Strong industry network with at least 3–5 years of relevant working experience.
    • Experience with value selling and designing account penetration strategies/plans.
    • Familiarity with the respective interests of players across different solar sectors.
    • High proficiency in MS Office applications and Microsoft Dynamics or other CRM systems.

    Chief Financial Officer

The role will oversee the financial strategy, planning, analysis and reporting, as well as manage the finance and accounting teams, as well as any external service providers.     BESS Solutions Engineer

    Role Overview

    • An international renewable energy company is seeking an experienced BESS Solutions Engineer to support the delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects in the South African market.
    • This role sits at the interface of modelling, engineering, and commercial product teams. The successful candidate will help shape BESS solutions from pre-sales and tender-stage contract design through to contract finalisation and project execution, ensuring that each deployment is technically robust, commercially competitive, and compliant.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the BESS project lead by working closely with OEMs and project stakeholders to ensure the integrated solution is correctly designed, built, tested, commissioned, and operated.

    • Demonstrable involvement across multiple project lifecycle stages, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
    • Strong working knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology fundamentals, including:
    • Cell chemistry
    • Degradation mechanisms
    • Thermal behaviour
    • Safety characteristics
    • Understanding of grid codes, regulatory frameworks, and technical standards.
    • Understanding of BESS/hybrid control systems.
    • Experience drafting or contributing to Employer’s Requirements, technical specifications, or scope-of-work documents for BESS procurement or EPC contracts.
    • Previous experience in technical due diligence, design, or practical integration testing of BESS.
    • Ability to translate complex BESS engineering matters into clear language for commercial, legal, and financial stakeholders.
    • Fluency in English.
    • Willingness to travel.
    • Full clean driving licence.

    Desirable Experience

    • Knowledge of BESS performance modelling and dispatch modelling tools.
    • Familiarity with FIDIC contract frameworks, specifically Silver Book, and how technical requirements are embedded in EPC agreements.
    • Knowledge of SCADA and OT environments.
    • Experience supporting lender due diligence processes or interfacing with independent technical advisors on bankability assessments.
    • Working knowledge of fire safety engineering for BESS, including:
    • Off-gas detection technologies
    • Suppression system design
    • Emergency response planning
