    The Fine Art Department is seeking to appoint someone at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor level and invites suitably qualified candidates to apply.

    Requirements:

    The post is in the Fine Art Practice section of the Department, and the successful applicant will be expected to:

    • Take responsibility for the Fine Art Practice 1 courses, teaching (or co-teaching) across a range of assignments in different art-making media areas, and managing all aspects of course co-ordination and related studio administration.
    • Contribute at the more senior levels (including postgraduate supervision) in a manner commensurate with their experience and expertise.
    • Contribute to the Fine Art Department’s rich and varied portfolio of practice-based and practice-led research.

    Lecturer: 

    • A Masters degree in Fine Art/Visual Arts, with reasonable progress being made towards a PhD in Fine Art/Visual Arts (practice-based or practice-led) and with a commitment to complete the PhD within the probationary period.
    • Applicants must have an ability to teach in the subject of Fine Art/Visual Arts studio practice.
    • reference will be given to candidates with teaching ability and technical competency across a range of art-making media areas (such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmedia, digital arts and photography).

    Senior Lecturer:

    •  A PhD in Fine Art/Visual Arts (practice-based or practice-led) is preferred.
    • Candidates with a Masters degree in Fine Art/Visual Arts, with proof of PhD under examination may also be considered.
    • Candidates will need to provide proof of having passed the PhD examination by the time of appointment.
    • Applicants must have teaching experience at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in the subject of Fine Art/Visual Arts studio practice.
    • Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and technical competency across a range of art-making media areas (such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmedia, digital arts and photography).

    Associate Professor/Professor: 

    • A PhD in Fine Art/Visual Arts (practice-based or practice-led) is required. Applicants must have considerable teaching experience at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in the subject of Fine Art/Visual Arts studio practice.
    • Preference will be given to candidates with extensive teaching experience and technical competency across a range of art-making media areas (such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmedia, digital arts and photography).

    Fundraising And Development Manager

    Main Objectives
    To support the overall divisional strategy by executing and monitoring the fundraising and development strategy. To support the Director by giving input into the conceptualisation of the divisional strategy and providing specialist input with regard to fundraising and development. To lead and manage the fundraising and development section and to take responsibility for the implementation of stewardship strategies for all donors, to fully recognise their contributions and to encourage their continued support of the University. 

    The Requirements
    A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification with approximately 7 years relevant experience where such experience includes: -

    • Previous experience in fundraising or in any position where the development of relations is seen as core to the success of the position.
    • Able to demonstrate a track record of success with regard to the above as well as where initiative has been taken to enhance or build key relationships.
    • Demonstrable success in running projects which are aimed at achieving support for philanthropic programmes.
    • At least 3 years management experience.
    • Previous experience working with senior management in an organisation where strategic input has been required.

    The Department of the Ichthyology & Fisheries Science invite suitably qualified candidates to join their team. 

    Main Objectives

    • The purpose of this job is to provide effective and efficient project management and financial management and administrative control of the externally funded research contracts within the DIFS and its units/divisions.

    The Requirements

    B.Com. Degree in Management or Financial Accounting (or equivalent) PLUS at least 6 year’s relevant experience. In all instances, relevant experience must include: -

    • An excellent understanding of accounting principles, with the ability to consolidated sets of accounts in the required format/s.
    • The ability to investigate and reconcile multiple accounts is essential.
    • Excellent experience in working within a computerized accounting environment and having worked with these accounting environments and in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
    •  Previous experience in working with word-processing (including being able to create and maintain databases), e-mail and the internet.
    • An excellent record of academic research project management and financial management experience in multi-institutional and multi-national projects, and with experience in managing projects in the life sciences or environmental consulting sphere (or similar) is essential.
    • Experience in administering and/or hosting multi-institutional and multi-national meetings/conferences.
    • Experience in providing high level (e.g. Director/Head of Department) support in project management is essential.
    • Experience in providing student support in project management is essential.
    • Previous administrative experience designing, developing, planning, co-ordinating and executing administrative processes and projects in support of the strategic imperatives of the Department. -
    • Experience in research project report preparation including financial tables and the narrative that accompanies these financials is essential.
    • Candidates must demonstrate an understanding, have knowledge, and extensive experience in interpreting and working with legal documents.
    • A formal legal background would be a distinct advantage.
    • Experience in reviewing, interpreting and governing research contracts and/or academic contracts is essential.
