    Chief Director - District Health Services (Five (5) Year Fixed Contract Appointment)

    Requirements :

    • A Grade 12 Certificate, an appropriate Degree (NQF level 7) in health-related field.
    • A postgraduate qualification in Management will be an added advantage.
    • A minimum of five (5) years management experience at senior management level in public health.
    • Knowledge and understanding of district health systems including the management of regional and district hospitals.
    • Good understanding of legislations, related regulations and policies in the public sector. Driver’s licence is an inherent requirement. Computer literacy. 

    Duties :

    • Provide strategic leadership and management in the Chief Directorate to ensure alignment with its Annual, business and operational plans. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of District Services in terms of relevant legislative frameworks and delegations. Manage and lead the Districts in the implementation of Primary Health Care (PHC) full package.
    • Ensure optimal provision of integrated and appropriate health services and programmes for the entire Province. Support Districts and Regional hospitals, within the Province, in line with the Departmental Comprehensive Service Plan and National Health Core Standards. Manage the implementation of Ideal Clinic Realisation and Maintenance (ICRM) in the five (5) districts.
    • Manage the collaboration with the five (5) Districts in reviewing and implementing the three (3) streams of PHC reengineering. Monitor and support implementation of EPWP programme in the department. Preparation and maintenance of the DHS budget to meet the health and service needs of the province in accordance with all prescripts geared towards the improvement of service delivery. Support the NHI readiness arrangements across the Province in line with the developments around the Bill.
    • Lead and manage the key partnerships within the Province, especially with Communities, Local Government, Universities and Non-Profit Organizations (NPO’s). Management of Human and Financial Resources within the Directorate. Implementation of DHS in line with legislation and regulations.
    • Actively contribute to the formulation and implementation of the departmental Strategic Plan. Communicate, report and integrate the outputs of the chief directorate, internally and externally with all stakeholders.

    Registrar - Psychiatry

    Requirements :

    • Grade 12 Certificate, an appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner and must have completed Community Service. Current registration with HPCSA for 2025/2026 financial year.
    • Post Qualification, at least six (6) months clinical psychiatry experience at Gauteng Health Facilities affiliated to the University of Witwatersrand academic platform.
    • A qualification i.e., Part 1 of the FC Psych (SA) and/or the Diploma in Mental Health will be added advantages.

    Duties :

    • Conduct Clinical assessment of psychiatric patients, formulate ,develop and execute evidence based and compassionate patient care plans. Implement cost containment measures in service delivery. Assess and manage medical and psychiatric emergencies.

    Registrar - Medical

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
    • At least one-year experience as a Medical Officer post-community service (for South African qualified) or three-years’ experience post internship (for foreign qualified) applicants, preferably in primary care setting.
    • Registrars will be based in the district training platforms and jointly appointed between West Rand Health district and the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS). 

    Duties :

    • Provide medical care including interviewing, investigating, diagnosing and managing patients, Rotate through all service points in the service and training platforms – clinics, hospitals, community-based services and community-oriented primary care platforms in district and WITS.
    • Participate in all clinical, academic and professional activities of the family medicine discipline, including teaching and research, clinical audits, preparing and writing of reports.
    • Supervise clinical associates, undergraduate medical students, medical interns, community service doctors and medical officers.

    Requirements :

    • Accepting responsibility for continuous professional development to keep up to date with developments in different units in Orthopaedic Surgery. Also, participate in the outreach programmes for Level 2 and 3 Hospitals. Any other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department.

    Boiler Operator

    Requirements :

    • Grade 10 and an equivalent recognized National Steam Certificate.
    • A minimum of 1-3 years’ appropriate experience gained in operating boilers.
    • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and Regulations.
    • Planning, organizing, communication (verbal and written) skills are essential.

    Duties :

    • Makes requisition of chemicals from stores as required. Tests the quality of water of softeners as well as the returning flows of condensate water. Fills chemicals tank with required chemicals as prescribed. Top up salt in brine tank.
    • Checks working conditions of chemical pumps. Tests total dissolve solids (TDS) and blow-down according to prescripts.
    • Monitors the stream pressure constantly check the correct temperature of hot well tanks. Adjust the stocker for efficient steam delivery. Reports all defects timeously.
    • Check the feed water pump-levels and hot well tanks for sufficient water supply to the boiler. Make sure that standby boilers and funnels are always full of water and chemicals. Controls the flow of fuel.
    • Ensures that the boiler environment is well maintained, the proper usage of protective clothing, that the brine tank and water filter are cleaned as prescribed and the removal of ash from boilers, grit arrest and smoke box.
    • Log all recordings as per the assessment in the logbook. Performs supervisory functions.
    • Receives and sign off on the delivery of coal. Provides shift reports. Maintenance of shift/overtime register. Performs other related duties delegated by the Supervisor.

    Deputy Manager Medical Physicist Grade 1

    Requirements :

    • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a medical Physicist, Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Physicist, no experience needed after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Physicist. Computer literacy.
    • Good communication skills (ability to communicate well with people at different levels and backgrounds). Sound Organization skills. Good interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under pressure and to take initiative. Organising and planning skills.

    Duties :

    • Review of radiation safety procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Provide training to radiation employees in all radiation protection protocols. Review of personnel radiation exposure and preparation of over-exposure reports as required by DoH:RC/SAHPRA.
    • Monitor patient radiation doses: diagnostic reference levels (DRLs). Prevents radiation incidences in diagnostic radiology department. Acquisition and administering of personnel radiation monitoring devices (e.g. radiation dosimeters such TLD badges & audible/alarm dosimeters).
    • Perform calculation and inspection of the facility shielding as required in accordance with the national regulations. Acts on behalf of license holders in taking full responsibility for the entire scope of radiation protection.
    • Develop and directs quality control programs to ensure safety procedures, better image quality, identification of the sources of uncertainty as well as the compliance with regulations.
    • Perform acceptance testing of the newly installed imaging systems to verify the specifications provided by the vendor. Implementation of a regular quality control programme to guarantee safety of both staff and patients.
    • Ensures that all the activity measuring instruments (radionuclide calibrators and survey meters) are calibrated against the national standard. Reviews documentation which includes procedure manuals and policy documents.
    • Ensures that the correct activity which is measured with a radionuclide calibrator is administered to patients. Monitors the administration of radioactivity sources (in case of I-131 and Lu-177) to patients for therapeutic procedures. Performs the measurement of the sensitivity of gamma cameras/SPECT scanners prior for the estimation of the activity/counts to be performed.
    • Provide support to Radiography, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Oncology and other institutions in the cluster. Evaluates all the facilities and procedures in terms of occupational or public safety by performing radiation survey.
    • Participates in drafting/writing specifications prior to purchasing of a new radionuclide calibrator and/or any imaging system. The employee will be required to work long hours in line with the operational needs of the department.

The successful candidate will be involved in clinical research as well as supervising registrars on their MMeds.
