    Nursing Assistant Weekend Program Part Time – 1st Shift

    About the Job

    Provides basic, quality patient focused care in clinical setting under daily direction and supervision of Registered Nurse (RN) in accordance with the standards of practice within guidelines of corresponding state regulations. Performs delegated tasks in patient care setting that supports environment of patient care and assures patients and family are treated in a holistic manner with dignity and respect.

    Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation which may include use of therapeutic assistive devices, proper positioning, range of motion and special transferring as indicated.

    Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs (Temperature, Pulse, Respiration), I & O (Intake and Output), daily weights, and other patient data as requested. Documents accurately in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

    Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and promptly communicates observations, concerns, and needs of patient/family to RN. Documents appropriately.

    Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN including room set up, orientation to room, removing linen, and proper management of patient belongings. Ensures patient call light is always in reach of patient and answers call-lights promptly.

    Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated using approved process for accurate specimen labeling and identification. Maintains competency as required.

    Completes various errands as directed including pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports. Maintains and orders stock for nursing area. Cleans equipment and work areas.

    Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties which require lifting and pushing/pulling while utilizing proper technique and assistive devices. Performs tasks related to nutritional needs of patient under direction of RN to include diet review, tray set up/removal, proper positioning and diet selection.

    Performs tasks related to maintaining skin integrity to include proper repositioning and skin care. Ensures special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained such as TED hose and sequential compression devices.

    Under the direction of RN and as determined by site/unit requirements, may be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care, perform phlebotomy, ECGs, bladder scans and other skills as allowed under state regulations.

    Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention by demonstrating hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, proper disposal of contaminated materials and utilizing proper attire when in direct contact with patients in isolation.

    Scheduled Hours

    • Weekend program day shift/8 hour shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).

    Licenses & Certifications

    • Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry in which the team member practices., and
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days.

    Degrees

    • High School Graduate, or
    • Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED).

    • Basic computer skills.Excellent oral and written communication.Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.Certification AddendumTeam members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).

    Patient Service Representative II – Advocate Aurora Summit

    About the Job

    • Acts as the first point of contact for patients by providing outpatient department and/or clinic reception. Greets and registers the patient, completes all necessary forms, obtains demographic and insurance information, collects copayment, posts payments, and adds or updates basic patient account information. Schedules new and follow-up patient appointments and coordinates more complex scheduling of ancillary services appointments, tests and procedures. Maintains, confirms and/or secures prior authorization required to receive physician or medical services as needed. Acts as a staff and department resource.

    • Greets patients and visitors and responds to routine requests for information. Answers telephone, screens calls, and takes messages.

    • Registers patients; obtains demographic and insurance information; verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays, deductibles, and previous balances; posts payments and updates demographic and insurance information; obtains prior authorizations when needed.

    • Schedules patient appointments and coordinates cancellations, reschedules, and additions to schedules. Provides accurate, detailed information regarding test preparations, time patient to arrive, and any other directional information needed by patient.

    • Coordinates the scheduling of more complex patient appointments, tests and procedures. Instructs the patient on pre and post-procedure protocols (i.e. medication guidelines, food / beverage consumption guidelines, check-in procedures, directions to facilities, etc.).

    • Updates insurance, financial responsibility and other data when changes or additions occur, and communicates to patient as appropriate. Ensures insurance and patient information obtained is complete and accurate, applying acquired knowledge of government and third party payor requirements.

    • Identifies, reports, and resolves problems regarding registration or authorizations to appropriate individuals and departments.

    • Monitors patient flow to ensure they are cared for in the most efficient and courteous manner. Offers various assistance to patients to include: arranging transportation needs, providing directions, locating wheelchair, etc.

    • Performs visit closure including checking out patients after visit, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing patients with a visit summary.

    • May educate patients, staff and providers regarding prior authorization requirements, payer coverage, eligibility guidelines, documentation requirements, and insurance changes or trends.

    • Acts as a resource to patient services staff, resolving moderately complex patient concerns. Assists department leadership with orientation and training for patient services staff.

    Scheduled Hours

    3/4 days per week – clinic open Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. 

    No weekends, no holidays.

    Licenses & Certifications

    Degrees

    High School Graduate.

    Required Functional Experience

    Typically requires 1 year of experience in providing customer service that includes experiences in patient scheduling, registration and department / medical clinic reception.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively act as a resource to other staff.Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate with a variety of patients, staff and physicians.Intermediate computer skills including experience in using personal computers; including Microsoft Office or similar applications, and electronic mail.Understanding of basic medical terms and abbreviations typically used in the patient scheduling and registration process.Training or experience in keyboarding/data entry with an emphasis on speed and accuracy.Excellent organizational skills.Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, and to sort and file information alphabetically and numerically.Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
