    Bookkeeper/ Payroll Specialist (JB648)

    Responsibilities:

    • Bookkeeping function:
    • Accounting for and reporting monthly management packs for 5 companies
    • Debtors and creditor’s function
    • Invoicing, customer statements and reconciling accounts
    • Keeping record of all costs and calculating necessary intercompany cross charges
    • Process bank statements
    • Process journal entries
    • Compile monthly TB and management accounts
    • calculations and submission

    Payroll function:

    • Processing and accounting for payroll for +/- 130 staff
    • Making the bi-weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payments on time, including overtime calculations across 2 companies
    • Full payroll calculations on pastel payroll for all wage, salary and commission staff
    • Issuing tax forms (EMP201s and 501’s, etc)
    • Submitting monthly UIF declarations to the department of labour
    • Setting up new members of staff

    Requirements:

    • Accounting degree or National Diploma
    • 2+ years bookkeeping and payroll experience (Negotiable)
    • Pastel experience
    • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential as there are new projects on a constant basis
    • Problem solving abilities - out of the box thinking and agility
    • High level of self-motivation (This is not a micro managed environment)

    The interested candidates must meet the following criteria: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Business Intelligence or related field required (fields of statistics, mathematics or related subjects involving mathematics, such as economics or data science may be considered) 
    • 7+ years’ experience in a business intelligence role 
    •  3+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably within business intelligence or data analysis 
    • High level of experience in Data Modelling, Data Warehouse, Data Mining and Data Analysis 
    • Ability to understand and find appropriate applications for data and analysis results 
    • High level of proficiency in programming languages, such as SQL, R and Python
