    Business Development Analyst

    Key Accountabilities

    • Identify and analyse new business opportunities and industry trends.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and present business cases for approval.
    • Develop a pipeline of opportunities and ensue that it is updated on a regular
    • Develop and implement medium- and long-term strategic plans.
    • Align business development strategies with revenue growth targets.

    • Monitor and report partnership-related risks and mitigation measures.
    • Oversee centralised business development reporting.

    • Contribute tinternal reporting and liaison with the shareholder ministry.

    Minimum Requirements (Qualification/Experience)

    • A Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in one of the following fields:
    • Business Administration
    • Economics
    • Finance
    • Marketing
    • Commerce or a related discipline
    • A post graduate qualification in Business Management / Commerce or relevant (NQF level 8) qualification
    • A minimum of 5 - 8 years’ experience in business development, inclusive of identifying and managing strategic partnerships

    Manager: Contracts

    Key Accountabilities 

    • Implement SCM strategy and ensure contracts management plans are in place and executed in line with SAFCOL’s strategic objectives 
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures, templates, terms of references and processes for contracts management 
    • Draft and develop contractual agreements post award of RFQ’s, tender/bid and ensure validation with relevant stakeholders 
    • Review contracts for all new and existing service providers, propose necessary updates to ensure compliance with standards and regulations 
    • Collaborate with various functions to evaluate performance, pricing, and compliance against established contract 
    • Ensure finalisation of contracts, facilitate negotiation of realistic delivery dates of goods & services 
    • Facilitate and provide inputs to contract audit and compliance requirements 
    • Provide inputs to divisional budget and ensure contracts remain within approved budget/ tender award 
    • Negotiate and generate savings through contract negotiations according to market indications and relevant indices 
    • Collaborate with managers within Supply Chain Management to ensure alignment financial commitments of all pre-approved budgets 
    • Establish internal contracts controls, data and evaluate contract process that exist within SAFCOL 
    • Assess processes in place to monitor compliance with contracts (both vendor and internal compliance), manage changes in contracts and approval process for new contracts 
    • Develop and implement contract management instructions, policies, and procedures 
    • Ensure procurement risk monitoring, reporting and comply with all aspects when compiling reports and advising line management 
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements that have impact on business area and communicate these requirements across organisation 
    • Compile contracts risk management plan and maintain contract management records to ensure necessary information is captured 
    • Conduct bid clarifications with suppliers, end-user when drafting contracts and facilitate resolution of contractual disputes 
    • Establish and maintain strong business relationship with internal and external stakeholders 
    • Maintain contract expiry dates and ensure enquiries, renewals and or extensions and ensure communication to relevant business timeously 
    • Manage, measure service provider performance to ensure goods and services conform to contract requirements and compile monthly reports 
    • Monitor performance of suppliers against SLAs, resolve issues or queries, and develop recovery plan when performance targets are not met 
    • Negotiate optimum supplier agreements for short (one year) and medium term (three year) contracts and draft SLAs 
    • Develop and execute cost savings plans and compile contract performance reports 
    • Drive development, implementation, and monitor best practice in supply chain contracts management and SLAs across the organisation 
    • Ensure commercial activities of business units meet legal, contractual, financial, and commercial requirements 
    • Ensure all contract related documents are signed and retained such as variation orders, rules and regulations for on-site contractors, appointment of signee, Insurance, workman's compensation etc. 
    • Ensure contracts adhere to Occupational Health and Safety or professional body requirements and to current B-BBEE Good Practice 
    • Contribute to SAFCOL achieving a clean administrative audit outcome, from a contract management perspective 

    Minimum Requirements 

    • Grade 12 
    • Bachelor of Commerce Degree / B-Tech Degree or Similar Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration / Commercial Field / Supply Chain Management/ Logistics/ Commercial Law/ Contracts Management and/ or related field (NQF Level 7) 
    • Bachelor of Commerce Honours /Post Graduate Diploma or Similar Post Graduate Degree in Business Administration / Commercial Field / Supply Chain Management/ Logistics/ Commercial Law/ Contracts Management and/ or related field (NQF Level 8) will be an added advantage 
    • MCIPS or CSCP Certification will be an added advantage 
    • 5 Years’ experience in Supply Chain Management within the field of Contracts Management of which 2 years should be in a Managerial role as a Contracts Manager in a Public Sector Environment 
    • Practical and sound knowledge of PFMA, PPPFA, BBBEE Codes of Good Practice, Treasury Regulations

    Forester: Harvesting

    Key Accountabilities 

    • Monitor the transport of timber, ensuring timely collection and delivery 
    • Ensure Operating Harvesting Plan (OHP) is available for each active harvesting compartment 
    • Monitor production and Logprog reports on a daily basis 
    • Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements related to harvesting operations 
    • Ensure the Planning Section completes compartment enumeration prior to commencement of harvesting operations 
    • Complete volume reconciliations per compartment and submit to the Planning Department 
    • Report completed activities on PSM and review log quality audits on a daily basis 
    • Complete management checklists for all operations on a weekly basis 
    • Ensure supervisors complete Best Operating Practices (BOP) quality checklists daily for their respective operations 
    • Conduct regular toolbox talks and monitor compliance with forestry best practices 
    • Ensure post-harvesting audits are conducted with the Senior Forester/Plantation Manager immediately upon compartment completion 
    • Follow up on all customer complaints promptly 
    • Control contractor daily operations, ensuring adherence to production, quality, and safety standards 
    • Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) standards; report all incidents onto the data management system (DMS) 
    • Mark trees for thinning, ensure alignment with the thinning regime, and verify thinning controls are in place before operations commence 
    • Report volume variances greater than 10% to the Plantation Manager and Planning Manager 
    • Sign Goods Received Vouchers (GRVs) to confirm work completion and quality standards
    • Control plantation road team operations and perform road condition assessments as part of post-harvest monitoring 
    • Monitor maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment to ensure timely servicing, licensing, and compliance without penalties 
    • Identify and address training needs for subordinates 
    • Complete field checklists and perform in-field quality checks for all operations as per BOPs 
    • Enforce safety standards in all aspects of work and control environmental management in the field according to the Environmental Management System (EMS) 
    • Manage staff performance and productivity 
    • Monitor and control training programs to ensure compliance with safety standards; maintain and update all safety registers 
    • Supervise safety committee inspections, meetings, and reporting activities 

    Minimum Requirements 

    • Grade 12 
    • National Diploma in Forestry (NQF level 6) 
    • B-Tech or BSc Degree in Forestry (NQF level 7) will be added advantage 
    • 2 Years’ experience as a Field Forester or similar level 
    • Previous experience in harvesting operations will be an added advantage 
    • Valid driver’s licence

    Forensic Investigator

    Key Accountabilities 

    • Contribute on development and implementation of fraud prevention, detection and corruption strategies 
    • Promote and maintain a zero-tolerance culture related to fraud and corruption across SAFCOL Group 
    • Provide inputs on development of anti-corruption plans, policies review, procedures and standards 
    • Provide expert guidance on implementation of forensic related policies and forensic investigation methodology 
    • Formulate forensic investigation project plan and obtain approval 
    • Conduct forensic investigations i.e. theft, fraud, embezzlement, conflict of interest, collusion, bribes etc. in line with required standards 
    • Perform forensic investigations and digital forensic in line with Forensic Audit charter and methodology 
    • Conduct forensic investigation interviews with role players i.e. witnesses, experts and suspects in line with forensic investigation standard 
    • Gather, review and analyse data and/or evidence as part of an investigation process 
    • Collaborate with outsourced forensic investigators, monitor and quality assure outsourced forensic investigation cases and related activities 
    • Testify as an expert witness during disciplinary proceeding/ CCMA/ court of law or any other legal proceedings 
    • Provide support to business related litigation processes, compile statements and affidavits as and when required 
    • Facilitate implementation of forensic interventions, projects and activities across SAFCOL Group 
    • Identify risks and control weaknesses related to processes, standards and procedures arising from investigations 
    • Contribute on development of fraud and corruption risk registers and assist functional heads with risk reviews and risk registers updates 
    • Perform risk assessments to identify high fraud risk areas for potential fraud 
    • Clearly define fraud related issues, corruption and identify root cause thereof 
    • Provide recommendations to improve identified weak internal controls, processes, ensure corrective action plan is developed/ implemented 
    • Contribute and conduct anti-corruption, whistleblower training and awareness across SAFCOL Group 
    • Liaise with law enforcement agencies, foster good relationships, enhance business processes and methodologies 
    • Prepare comprehensive, coherent investigative reports/ memoranda and submit to relevant stakeholders timeously 
    • Keep abreast of latest fraud detection techniques, processes and practices 

    Minimum Requirements 

    • Grade 12 
    • Bachelor’s Degree and or B-Tech (NQF Level 7) in Accounting/ Forensic/ Forensic Audit/ Internal Audit/ Law/ Legal/LLB 
    • Bachelor of Honours Degree and or Post Graduate Diploma (NQF Level 8) in Accounting/ Forensic/ Forensic Audit/ Internal Audit/ Law/ Legal/LLB will be added advantage 
    • Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE)/ Fraud Practitioner South Africa (FPSA) 
    • Registered Professional Membership of Association of Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE) /Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners (ICFP) 
    • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) will be added advantage 
    • 5 Years’ experience in conducting complex Forensic Investigations/ Forensic Auditing/ Fraud Prevention or related field 
    • Previous experience in SAPS criminal investigation or law enforcement will be added advantage 
    • Previous experience in a Public Sector (preferably Schedule 2 entity in terms of Public Finance Management Act) will be added advantage

    Senior Driver Operator: Forwarder

    Key Accountabilities 

    • Comply with all applicable Harvesting Best Operating Practices (BOP), forest management procedures, and company standards 
    • Operate Forwarder machines accordance with the approved harvesting operational plan 
    • Achieve and maintain planned shift production targets consistently 
    • Operate machinery at optimal speeds to maximize productivity while minimizing operational costs 
    • Execute correct extraction and off loading procedures to reduce product rejects and prevent machine damage 
    • Maintain high operational quality standards to prevent tree damage and product mixing 
    • Perform daily preventative maintenance, including: greasing and completion of preventative maintenance checklists 
    • Conduct weekly servicing in accordance with company standards and maintenance schedules
    • Identify, report, assist with fault findings, breakdowns and planned maintenance activities 
    • Attend to minor breakdowns and record all actions taken 
    • Strictly adhere to safety standards, environmental practices, and procedures at all times 
    • Complete all required documentation accurately, including: daily Production Asset Card (DPAC), equipment checklists and mechanised harvesting production sheets 
    • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by management 

    Minimum Requirements 

    • Grade 8 
    • 2-3 Years’ experience in forest operations 
    • Forwarder certificate 
    • Previous experience in thinning operations will be an added advantage 
    • Mechanical background will be an added advantage

    Forester: Silviculture

    Key Accountabilities 

    • Complete management checklists for each operation on a weekly basis 
    • Conduct in-field quality control checks for all operations and teams in accordance with BOP 
    • Monitor safety compliance and environmental standards in the field; perform audits on contractors as per company policy 
    • Provide inputs and manage growth stock planning, site assessment and species matching for regeneration. 
    • Conduct blanking assessments to replace dead seedlings and evaluate watering needs during winter 
    • Plan, implement and monitor the pruning program 
    • Plan, implement and monitor Integrated Pest Management (IPM) 
    • Execute weed control plan for 0–3-year-old period and monitor correct application of herbicides 
    • Monitor management of conservation areas, focusing on weeding, erosion control, and removal of invasive species 
    • Plan, implement and monitor Integrated Fire Management Plan (IFMP) 
    • Evaluate whether fuel reduction burns are required before planting and implement where required 
    • Implement fuel reduction burns in mature compartments as required 
    • Plan fire belts in accordance with the Fire Protection Plan and execute annual firebreak preparations and burning 
    • Provide input on operational plans for all silviculture and thinning activities 
    • Contribute to the completion of operational plans and budget schedules 
    • Present progress reports on work completed and expenditures during meetings with Supervisors and Contractors 
    • Report weekly progress to the Senior Forester or Plantation Manager 
    • Issue work to Contractors and monitor production, ensuring completed work aligns with operational plans and Best Operating Practices (BOP) 
    • Process Goods Received Vouchers to verify work completion and quality standards 
    • Organize safety meetings with representatives and management and follow up on all safety reports 
    • Submit safety-related documentation to the SHEQ Department 
    • Perform post-harvest road condition assessments and maintain road register 
    • Supervise plantation road team operations 
    • Monitor vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules to ensure timely servicing 
    • Identify training needs, coach, and motivate the silviculture operations team 

    Minimum Requirements 

    • Grade 12 
    • National Diploma in Forestry (NQF level 6) 
    • B-Tech or BSc Degree in Forestry (NQF level 7) will be added advantage 
    • 2 Years’ experience as a Field Forester or similar level 
    • Previous experience in silviculture operations will be an added advantage
