    Senior Assurance Manager: IT Audit

    Job Summary

    • Support the Senior Assurance Manager IT General Controls: Lead/Senior Assurance Manager Project Change: Lead to drive and execute on the agreed ITO A&T Combined Assurance coverage plan. Assist in the improvement of the control environment for Information Technology Office (ITO) as well as other business clusters through assurance activities in alignment with the ITO A&T methodology, assurance standard, governance and delivery objectives.

    Accountability: Planning Assurance Reviews

    • Develop the Assurance Plan through consultation with the respective Risk Leads, CIOs and the Senior Assurance Manager IT General Controls: Lead/Senior Assurance Manager Project Change: Lead.
    • Plan the delivery of assigned assurances to a high quality and in line with Key Performance Indicators as per the ITO A&T methodology which includes preparation of the announcement memo and meeting key deliverables in terms of assurance timelines.
    • Design and ensure the execution of approved sampling techniques, testing strategies on assurance reviews.
    • Prepare detailed working papers for all assurance reviews to ensure a consistent testing approach across all business units.

    Accountability: Executing Assurance Reviews

    • Develop an in-depth knowledge of business clusters and use this knowledge to assess risks and controls through identifying, assessing and documenting risks and controls within these processes.
    • Provide consulting services to implement lasting change and sustained improvements around critical processes to support the bank’s top priorities.
    • Support the Senior Manager: Combined Assurance and Reporting in validating effective controls as per the Control Self-Assessment (CSA) for the business units.
    • Conduct assurance reviews, investigations, and/or ad hoc projects with minimal supervision and direction from the Senior Assurance Manager IT General Controls: Lead/Senior Assurance Manager Project Change: Lead independently or be part of a team headed by a Lead.
    • Execute on the Design Effectiveness Testing (DEA) and Operating Effectiveness Testing (OET) in line with the ITO A&T methodology and Assurance standard requirements.
    • Manage the execution of Design Effectiveness Testing (DEA) and Operating Effectiveness Testing (OET) of the assigned assurance team on a review in line with methodology requirements.
    • Review working papers and supporting evidence prepared by assurance team on a review.
    • Perform and proactively participate in the timely clearing of review notes raised by the Quality and Control team to ensure overall high quality of work performed.
    • Perform business process analysis (BPAs) and control deep dives on specific control themes as defined by the Senior Assurance Manager IT General Controls: Lead/Senior Assurance Manager Project Change: Lead.

    Accountability: Reporting

    • Use business knowledge to assess evolving risks, write high quality reports with observations which are insightful, address the root cause, have agreed actions that fully mitigate the risk, support the Issues Management process and require no further assurance work to support them.
    • Anticipate potential barriers, issues, and management concerns and create action plans and recommendations to address these concerns in a timeous manner.
    • Capture the findings on a centralised system in a timely manner.

    Accountability: Stakeholder Engagement

    • Present effectively at stakeholder meetings and forums (e.g.: combined assurance forums, etc.) by sharing knowledge and information, including methodology, standards, changes and new developments, with business stakeholders on an ongoing basis, and develop and maintain relationships with accountable stakeholder management on each assurance review.

    Accountability: People Management

    • Mentor and coach less experienced team members on assigned assurance reviews by providing guidance around the ITO A&T methodology and assurance process and manage the teams that are assigned to the assurance review effectively by delegating assurance work to empower each individual team member.

    Job Summary

    • To provide administrative and operational support to the assigned team/s within Absa Financial Services Legal.

    Job Description

    Accountability:  Operational administration

    • Establish and manage operational processes within the team.
    • Interpret new or updated Absa Group policies and processes in terms of relevance to the requirements of the team.
    • Establish an operating procedure for the team’s financial management – aligned to the reporting, timelines and requirements as set by the Head: Legal Counsel and the finance partner.  This includes supporting the team with SAP or COUPA finance management tasks such as capturing Purchase Orders, processing invoices etc.
    • Ensure that the team is adequately supported with logistics such as international and local travel planning / booking, meeting/workshop logistics, claims management etc. (as required, according to team profile and needs)
    • Maintain appropriate documentation and filing, according to the specific requirements of the team assigned to.

    Accountability: Leadership support duties

    • Assist Absa Financial Services Legal Head of Legal and its leadership with formal meeting governance (preparation and distribution of meeting packs, minutes, action logs etc.)
    • Handle and resolve queries where appropriate or direct the complex queries to the relevant person and/or take messages accordingly.
    • Manage the Head of Legal’s diary;
    • Set up meetings timeously and invite the correct attendees to the meeting, arranging refreshments / venues / technology / building access etc. (as needed).

    Accountability: Control measures

    • Understand the control measures applicable to the Head's role through reading the Code of Conduct and other training allocated. Where responsible for risks and controls ensure that these are appropriate and fit for purpose.
    • All mandatory training completed to deadline and understood within given timescales.
    • Where applicable, all key risks identified, tracked, logged and managed as per the Risk Framework procedures.
    • Where applicable, all key controls to have identified owners, with audit trail of regular review and maintenance together with supporting records.   
    • Where applicable, all risk events (incidents) or control failures to be escalated, investigated, reported and fixed at root cause to prevent reoccurrence.

    Education & Experience:

    • Previous experience required as a Team/Personal Assistant
    • Experience in local and international travel especially into Africa
    • Maintain high level of confidentiality
    • Exceptional organisational & planning skills
    • Experience with COUPA preferred
