    SPC Manager

    Purpose of the Job:

    The purpose of this job is to manage the Manufacturing short term planning (GANTT), the SPC team and control the daily operations on the production line, as well as manage all line supply integration issues between Planning, Production, Quality, NCR, Logistics and Procurement. so that they are manufactured on time in accordance with the Master Production Schedule/Repairs Schedule. This is a key support function for manufacturing. The position will report to Head of Supply Chain.

    Key responsibilities include the following:

    • The SPC Manger is responsible for managing the effectiveness of the link between Manufacturing, industrial planning, PrSCL, Procurement, logistics and manufacturing to ensure on time execution of operations
    • Give feedback to procurement team regarding short term supply issues (missing parts, non-conformity, …)
    • The SPC Manager is accountable for ensuring that the Serial Production Coordinators manage the launching and controlling of Work Orders / Service Orders according to the MPS  
    • On a daily basis, coordinate with logistic daily, procurement and quality to allow the manufacturing team to produce as per the plan.
    • SPC Manager is responsible for highlighting short term production risks with respect to Man, Method, Method and Machine and propose action plan.
    • Manage at project starting, initialize all line feeding flows. Lead production line integration.
    • Check plan orders readiness to ensure work orders can be launch on time and analyze exception messages of the MRP.
    • Follow-up daily the progress of Work Orders through close exchanges with EPU/Line managers and provide visibility on materials availability for task sequences.
    • Ensure that priorities as planned in the MPS are clearly displayed and updated at shopfloor level (visual management) - Alert the planning team/supply chain manager about issues impacting plan execution (missing parts, quality issues, production stoppage, technical data).
    •  Analyze deviations with manufacturing, PME and Quality, and propose short term recovery actions in order to catch-up the committed plan Provide the line-feeding priorities visibility to the logistics team in order to secure the production.
    • Secure the internal production flows by monitoring production of sub-assemblies, Review and propose efficient Line feeding Flows to maximize productivity on the shopfloor.
    • Follow-up subcontracted operations and ensure their execution on time in collaboration with procurement/logistics/production.
    • Check data accuracy related to BOM/Routings in collaboration with Logistics and Industrialization - Collaborate with quality team in order to prioritize incoming inspection and quality issues priorities - Contribute to the footprint updates needs with Logistics methods.
    • Manage the information workflow of work orders: job release, production time recording (COGI), material consumption and shipment process to customer for compo/sig sites (in collaboration with logistics and/or ERP team).
    • Follow-up customer deliveries complaints and assist with closing the NCR
    • Contribute to minimize the product throughput time and maintain optimum WIP - During project closure, participate to inventories to secure last manufacturing takt times
    • Respect EHS rules and involved in SOV (safety observation visits) .
    • Support the Master Production specialists in their activities, follow critical topics in detail with them.
    • Contribute to the APSYS roadmap related actions regarding industrial planning topics.
    • Manage Buffer Stock Policy of and Size Inventory Levels.

    Requirements:

    • Degree/Diploma in industrial Engineering/ Logistics/ Supply Chain
    • Experience in industrial planning .3 – 5 Years at Supervisory/Junior Management level
    • Experience in production scheduling/sequencing or operational supply chain with relevant usage of ERP (ideally SAP) in a manufacturing environment
    • Team Management experience
    • Knowledgeable of industrial planning, logistics, inventory management, procurement

    Semi Skilled Operator Motors - Mechanical Fitting

    Purpose:

    Responsible for stacking laminations of Stator Frame, Cage Rotor and final assembly of traction motors
    Main activities are mechanical fitting.
    Perform complete assemblies to the specified Quality, Cost and Delivery requirements.

    Responsibilities:

    • Stacking laminations on cage rotor and stator frame.
    • Able to follow the instructions when operating the machines. Oven settings/lamination presser/brazing machines.
    • Fit and assemble all parts/items following the technical WIS & Special process requirements.
    • Welding blocking segments according to the technical instructions & Special process specifications
    • Certain of the activities entail:
    • Lamination stacking and hot product expanding/shrinking.
    • Alignment of the copper bars on the cage rotor and cleaning bars and rings with a metal brush.
    • Preparation (alignment / cleaning) and quenching.
    • Perform balancing on the assembled cage rotor using the machine.
    • Repair non-conformities (geometry, visual aspect in relation with the criteria) by following the prescribed repair specification.
    • Perform self- inspections for quality checks.
    • Adhere to continuous improvement processes and teamwork.  
    • Reporting any problems to your direct supervisor/EPU manager for assistance.
    • Performing other duties as requested by the EPU manager.
    • Detecting and anticipating simple manufacturing anomalies, as well as more complex defects.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science or N3 Certificate with technical Mathematics and Science
    • Previous experience working in a semi-skilled level mechanical fitting.
    • Perform first level of inspection on all machines /hand tools &  lifting equipment before use.
    • Ability to operate  overhead crane for assembly operations and move the product with pallet stacker.
    • Ability to operate power tools, lifting equipment, drill machines, portable grinders and other hand tools related to the job requirement.
    • Ability to read, interpret and apply technical drawings (work instructions, welding parameters, safety instructions etc.)
    • Working knowledge of EN/ISO welding standards (EN ISO 9606-1, EN 15085, ISO 3834) is an added advantage
    • Familiar / experienced with the use of jigs & fixtures

    Welding Monitor 1 - Boksburg

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To assist welding operators during the course of production activities (WPS, WPQR, mock-ups, sub-assemblies, welding control & supervision) railway applications. In-line inspection before, during and after welding
    • To train welding operators on the requirements of products

    APSYS Support Specialist (Alstom Performance System) - Nigel

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    The APSYS Specialist will drive and coordinate locally with all métier the APSYS (Alstom Performance System) roadmap.
    APSYS Deployment - Animate, coordinate and challenge improvement actions to reach APSYS targets defined with each métier based on APSYS roadmaps using APSYS toolbox to deliver operational performance & develop local best practices that will be share with the steering committee/Site committee.

    Product Introduction Testing and Commissioning Manager

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To monitor and ensure compliance of the subcontractor with T&C Work Package commitments and EHS requirements for the given project

    MAIN RESPONSABILITIES  

    Responsibilities

    • Managing/supervising PI team members as well as supervision of TE testing staff during fault finding when required.
    • To lead fault finding activities when PI and TE testing staff are unable to resolve issues in testing.
    • To raise T&C related faults with the appropriate engineering
    • To train new technicians and engineers on the T&C process.

    Responsible for :

    • Validation of the locomotive testing process by reviewing completed SOPs against specifications, Supervision of TE test staff and Alstom test staff during Serial testing
    • To encourage and roll out projects to improve locomotive systems and component reliability and quality to all stakeholders
    • To ensure Maximo work orders are raised for material changeouts
    • To manage PI containment stock used during T&C activities To ensure QG6 is carried out by TE and/or Alstom testing staff to certify that locomotives are accepted in testing at the highest quality
    • To pronounce T&C “Go/No Go” decision, within the specified SOP framework with Alstom and TE stakeholders: -at milestone “Hand-Over from manufacturing to testing” -at milestone vehicle ex-works release preparation phase
    • To create and update T&C documentation (tests programs, tests description, acceptance criteria, jigs and special tools, records, associated workload and workstation organisation (TAKT) based on contractual and design technical requirements.
    • To comply with project’s T&C commitments, acting as Work Package Owner, in compliance with the locomotive production process.
    • Efficient and transparent interface with the Warranty Implementation teams working in customer’s depots.
    • Ensures EHS is fully considered in project T&C scope.
    • Reports Deviations, Near-misses and Accidents.
    • To capture and report non conformities and ensuring they are properly managed and closed, liaising with engineering, validation, RAMS, manufacturing and site Quality.

    People Management:

    Maintenance Technician (KZN Depot) x2

    • The job involves frequent mobility, with work in several depots, and at times on the train corridors.

    Educational Requirements

    Responsibilities

    Technical Support

    • Support/Interface with Engineering Department for the analysis of all data coming from the field for the purposes of resolution of technical problem on the on trains.
    • Reporting of all the anomalies found in commercial service and organization of the same in official reports to be sent to all company function • Interface with the customer and the technical fleet management to deal with all emergencies possible arising during the commercial service.
    • Support the customer in corrective and preventive maintenance execution by:
    • Coaching and training the customer on executing maintenance task, following procedures delivered by Gibela Engineering team upon request.
    • Answering to all requests addressed by the customer – by call or directly at technical support desk.
    • Train preparation, all levels of diagnostic on trains/CFM or use of on-board computerized equipment/working manuals, troubleshooting guide and train system knowledge.

    Maintenance Execution

    • Troubleshoot and repair the GIBELA Rolling Stock, in line with specified Quality procedures. This will require Manual work and sometimes working on powered up trains in a safe and controlled manner.
    • Carry out such work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as laid down by legislation and the Company Health & Safety policies.
    • Carry out train preparation, all levels of diagnostic and work arising involving the use of onboard computerized equipment/working manuals, troubleshooting guides and train system knowledge.
    • Undertake other duties as specified by the Depot Manager.
    • Adhere to Company procedures especially in relation to Quality and Health & Safety.
    • Attend regular team briefings
    • Read reports and manuals as and when required.
    • Report accidents/incidents, and the work done to repair the Trains.

    Storekeeper (KZN)

    Purpose of the Job

    • Receive, Store, Pack and deliver material to ensure project satisfaction (material availability). In charge of physical material flow (goods reception, warehousing, line replenishment, packaging, shipping)

    Objectives

    • Apply EHS rules
    • Inventory accuracy
    • Reception / packaging time
    • Apply Warehouses processes
    • Line replenishment lead time

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or N3 Certificate
    • 3-4 years’ experience working in stores
    • Valid Fork-Lift Truck certification
    • IT literate with knowledge of Word, Excel

    Responsibilities

    • Apply the businesses’ processes and best practices in the following areas:
    • Reception
    • Stores
    • Operation line replenishment
    • Inventory counting
    • Packaging
    • Shipment
    • IT tools for Warehouses
    • Apply the appropriate methodologies to improve the performance of the Warehouses and Operation delivery (APSYS)
    • Apply rules to operate in an environment that complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies

    Key Performance Indicators:

    • Inventory accuracy
    • Reception / packaging time
    • Line replenishment lead time
    • Customer service level

    Candidate requirements

    Behavioral and Technical Skills / Competencies                                                                                  

    • Able to communicate in English
    • Dynamic able to anticipate and organise, while being able to manage emergencies
    • 3-4 years’ experience working as storeman
    • Planning & Organising. Prioritises day-to-day workload
