    Head of Product

    Job Advert Summary    

    The Head of Product will be accountable for the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Groups set of IT products, partnering with Spur leadership to ensure IT products support the business strategy and growth objectives. This position is a key role in the group IT division and leads a team of professional product managers, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer.
    Minimum Requirements    

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • BCOM/BS Degree in IT
    • Masters degree preferred
    • 10+ years of appropriate leadership experience (CTO, IT Management, Product Management)
    • A strong background in product management is essential. The products managed will be heavy concentration on restaurant guest experiences, digital and data-led business systems.
    • Preferred experience in restaurant, retail and/or eCommerce in South Africa.
    • Strong understanding of different software development methodologies (i.e. SCRUM, Agile, Waterfall, Iterative, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of Product Management (e.g. product discovery, AB testing, usability, prototyping, analytics)
    • Experience leading process improvement efforts.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    Essential duties and Responsibilities:

    • Define product vision and strategy to support the overall direction of Spur Corporation’s IT strategy;
    • Develop and launch new products and enhance existing products;
    • Own the user experience for all products;
    • Lead and mentor the Product team;
    • Lead the combined business, technology (IT development) and support teams to ensure a common product-lead vision and delivery is achieved with the best combination of technical implementation methods as well as a reasonable execution schedule;
    • Establish and manage partnerships as necessary to drive the delivery of product development;
    • Leading and coordinating product development activities, such as financing and procurement, agile development methods, and customer development;
    • Resolving resource constraints and/or conflicts that affect multiple components within the product teams;
    • Communicating and reporting to stakeholders in a manner that reflects all activities within the product life cycle;
    • Responding proactively to risks spanning the product development life cycle;

    Head of Restaurants IT

    Job Advert Summary    

    The Head of Restaurant IT serves as a strategic IT business partner with our Group’s restaurant leadership and has the overall responsibility within IT for the purpose of Restaurant technology strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management. This is a senior role within IT and will report directly to the Chief Information Officer. The IT leader serves as the business relationship link between Spur Corp brands and IT and provides highly valued consulting level support and guidance through key IT initiatives. They communicate decisions, priorities and relevant technology development information to appropriate levels of staff regarding business unit requests and initiatives. They proactively share knowledge of restaurant and technology risks and opportunities to build competitive advantage through technology for restaurant franchisees.

    Minimum Requirements    

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • BCom/Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology management and computer engineering.
    • Masters degree preferred
    • A strong background in restaurant or retail IT would be highly recommended.
    • 10+ years of appropriate leadership experience (Restaurant or Retail Operations, IT Management)
    • Preferred experience in restaurant, retail and/or eCommerce in South Africa.
    • Strong understanding of the application side of technology (e.g. Point of Sale, eCommerce, Back of House).
    • Experience leading process improvement efforts.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Responsible for the development and implementation of restaurant solution roadmaps.
    • Ensure successful technology-driven advantages in restaurants and with customers.
    • Proactively work with restaurant leadership and strategic vendors to build and grow the restaurant platform of the future for franchisees.
    • Develop solution concepts and business cases for new investments.
    • Ensures end-to-end operational IT services are provided across the restaurants through SLAs and active monitoring and management.
    • Leads the IT restaurant team and provides mentorship, guidance, and support.
    • Leads with data-centric business process improvements.
    • Perform initial business analysis in conjunction with the Business and IT and prepare recommendations and business plans as needed.
    • Create and analyze relevant information and develop recommendations and present to senior management.
    • Oversee the launch of solutions and help to maximize the positive impact across the group
    • Identify, screen and evaluate new solution opportunities to address unmet (internal and external) customer needs.
    • Partner with key staff members to create strategic business plans.

    Product Manager

    Minimum Requirements    

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Graduate degree or similar in IT, Engineering, Commerce or Marketing
    • 3+ years’ experience in product management
    • In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology
    • Working knowledge of product development architecture
    • Proficiency in the use of analytic tools
    • Ability to prioritize effectively
    • Excellent knowledge of user-centred design principles
    • Excellent oral and written communication
    • Ability to work with matrix-orientated teams
    • Understanding of design quality standards

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    Product Management

    • Drives business requirements and product feature definition for each product portfolio to ensure a seamless end-to-end digital customer experience
    • Defines and assigns features to specific releases to meet key business objectives and serving customer expectations
    • Leads with data-centric KPIs, OKRs and business improvement efforts.
    • Sets product prioritisation and ensures appropriate delivery through a cross functional team
    • Active team member in business and IT teams to drive business objectives through product market fit
    • Serves as key integration point with IT development, business process, architecture and business leadership
    • Establishes and monitors customer satisfaction and other KPIs to define the success of our digital experiences; identifies and lead efforts to analyse results and continuously improve our performance through product improvements
    • Managing the product backlog and prioritizing them based on changing requirements
    • Overseeing all stages of product creation including design and development
    • Plan, evaluate and manage budget for Product on a monthly and yearly basis.

    Developing user stories

    • Monitoring and evaluating product progress at each stage of the process
    • Liaising with the product team and end-users to deliver updates
    • Participating in Scrum meetings and product sprints
    • Continuously improve product engagement through active customer development and testing
