    Manager Production

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • To manage the Mining Department in order to meet business objectives. This is a legal appointment as per Section 3.1.(a) of the MHSA.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Mining together with Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (DMRE) for Metalliferous Mines Broad exposure with a minimum of 5 Years in management role of underground mine and at least 10 years in mining industry;
    • Leadership qualification is essential;
    • Master’s in engineering Qualifications is advantageous.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Lead Health, Safety, Environment and Community within the internal environment;
    • Conduct investigations into workplace incidents;
    • Ensure compliance with Legal and South32 requirements;

    Lead Talent Acquisition

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • Lead Talent Acquisition (T&A) is the first point of contact for Africa recruitment activities for South32 and will be reporting to the SR Manager HR. This position assists in providing front line, daily operational leadership to the Africa T&A based team as well as assisting in executing and driving recruitment initiatives and strategy to local customer groups.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree in HR, Organizational Psychology or Business Administration with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in Human Resources of which 1 year is in a managerial capacity.
    • Portuguese speaking will be advantageous.
    • Experience partnering with senior leaders to translate business strategies into people strategy/action is essential;
    • Experience of managing a small team and working with remote sites is essential;
    • Experience within resource industry recruitment (highly desirable)
    • Experience in internal consulting, business partnership and change management is essential;
    • Experience liaising with diverse and complex stakeholder groups at all levels of an organization and working with 3rd party suppliers in support of strategic people initiatives is essential;
    • Experience in implementing and rolling out of new recruitment systems and associated HR processes, SAP & Success Factors (highly desirable).

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Provides the daily operational leadership to the South Africa based Talent Acquisition Team, this includes; assigning and monitoring workloads, acts as a first point of contact for day to day general enquires, monitoring and managing Specialist output and productivity.
    • Provide location reporting on team and recruitment metrics on a weekly/monthly basis;

    Principal Mine Planning

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • Reporting to the Lead Mine Planning, the key purpose of this role is to optimise extraction of the resource base by delivering the Life of Operation mine plan and medium-term detail for the Mamatwan mining operation. This role will offer a high level of management engagement, liaising directly with key stakeholders including site and functional management teams.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Mining Engineering with 10 years’ experience within mining;
    • Strong technical experience in hard rock mining, preferably manganese operations;
    • Registration as a professional with an affiliated association as prescribed by JORC;
    • High level competency of mine planning software and systems is essential.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Development of optimised Life of Operations mine plans to extract maximum value of the Mamatwan mining operation;
    • Prepare a detailed medium-term plan and key enabling activities for the operation’s physicals, development path and cost profile;
    • Interacts with various stakeholders to ensure the quality, alignment and understanding of the mine plans;
    • Develop JORC compliant Reserve statements for the Mamatwan mine including associated internal and external documentation;
    • Carries the legal appointment as the Competent Person for the declaration of reserves for Mamatwan;
    • Prepares Reserves risk reviews and facilitate peer review for good continuous improvement and risk management practices;
    • Provides mine planning support to Concept Studies and Projects;
    • Develops and follows planning standards and processes and supports functional excellence within Group Planning.

    Specialist Compliance & Reporting

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of the role is to provide accurate business reporting and analysis to support operations and decision making for Global Business Services (GBS). Assist the Lead Reporting and Governance with support services to manage risks, deliver 2nd Line Stewardship and ensure internal GBS process compliance as well as adherence to the GBS’s Partnership agreement with its customers.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree/ BTECH/National Diploma (3 years) in Finance, Supply, Logistics or Commerce with a minimum of 4 years’ relevant working experience;
    • Relevant professional experience in Finance, Risk, Audit or a Global Business Services Environment is essential;
    • 3 years and more experience in risk management / audit role is an essential;
    • In depth knowledge of internal control environment and regulatory requirements is essential;
    • General understanding of compliance and governance requirements is essential;
    • 2 Years and more experience in analysing of data and process improvement is essential;
    • General understanding in SAP is advantageous.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Ensure alignment with and compliance to internal controls including South32 Values, Standards, policies, agreements, systems and procedures;
    • Produce performance and other relevant reports on an operational and management level for Global Business Services;
    • Prepare and analyse the performance reports, as well as Key Performance Indicators, and provide input on initiatives that can be implemented to maintain or improve the performance of the Global Business Services
    • Be an advocate for internal controls, identifying and reporting on control, governance and compliance matters;
    • Assist in maintaining a strong control environment in performing various control testing and assurance activities for the functional streams;
    • Assist the functional teams in performing root cause analysis for areas where controls failed and review control procedures to prevent reoccurrence;
    • Build and maintain strong business relationships with all key stakeholders
    • Participate in initiatives to improve the overall performance of the function by optimising the utilisation of existing processes, practices and systems
    • Identify risks and provide input into planning and executing risk assessments.

    Coordinator Supply GRIR

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of the role is to execute transactional supply services of Account Payables; including relevant period tasks as defined within the Global Business Services Partnership Agreement with its Customers.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders must have a National Advanced Certificate (2 years) or equivalent in Finance, Commerce or Supply Chain with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Accounts Payable, Procure to Pay, Supply Chain or a Global Business Services Environment;
    • In-depth knowledge of SAP MM Module is essential;
    • Proficient at report writing, document preparation and presentation is essential;

    Administrator Human Resource Dev

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    The purpose of the role is to support the training department on an administrative level, by complying with company procedures and standards.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Grade 12 together with a 1-year occupational certificate with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Training Administration role;
    • Experience working on SAP/1SAP is essential;
    • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite is essential.

    Fitter

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    The purpose of the role is to be responsible for timely installation, repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure that underground mining activities are executed in a safe manner as well as operate equipment and tests all working parts in functional area to ensure proper utilization.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a N2 Technical Certificate (Internal Candidates) / N3 Technical Certificate (External Candidates) with a recognized Fitter trade test and a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a qualified Fitter on plant equipment
    • Knowledge and experience in maintaining plant equipment such as converyors, screens, jaws crushers and pumps is essential;
    • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and ability to read and interpret diagrams is essential;
    • Valid Code 08 Driver’s license is essential;
    • Working experience on SAP/1SAP is advantageous.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Maintenance and repairs of plant equipment in the production sections;
    • Interprets and coordinates pre-work with regards to repairs, interpretation of hydraulic diagrams, planned and predictive maintenance;
    • Accesses any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on plants or equipment;
    • Performs safety inspections of equipment and assesses risks on equipment;
    • Maintains a clean and safe worksite;
    • Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment;
    • Coordinates activities associated with trouble-shooting and repairing maintenance equipment.
