    Your accountabilities will include:

    Executive Assistant to the Chief Risk Officer

    Job Summary

    Accountability: Operational Process Support

    • As the first point of contact for the Chief Risk Officer, demonstrate professional demeanor and discretion and role model Absa Values when interacting with all stakeholders, especially in high-pressure situations
    • Act as initial point of entry for escalated client queries. Redistribute the resolution or respond directly to the stakeholders where appropriate and report only major issues to the Group Financial Director
    • Take personal accountability for ensuring all complaints lodged directly with the Chief Risk Officer are resolved
    • Maintain an updated view of priority projects and initiatives underway and provide regular updates to the Group Financial Director on progress, risks and issues.

    • Manage the diary of the Chief Risk Officer, in an efficient manner in line with the Chief Risk Officer priorities, including booking of venues, preparation of relevant meeting materials, arranging travel, and taking minutes where required.
    • Oversee the planning and execution of BU events for the Chief Risk Officer such as town halls, road shows, employee discussion forums, product launches, customer entertainment events and formal functions.
    • Prepare the key themes presentations and reviews for the Chief Risk Officer by researching and packaging detailed content. Ensure that presentations are designed to reflect the Absa Group’s brand..

    Accountability: Governance and Control

    • Support the Chief Risk Officer in the signoff process for risk events (losses and write-offs) by obtaining all investigation documentation and making recommendations on whether the BU should take the loss or whether it should be absorbed by a different area. Liaise with other mandate holders in the BU to ensure that they follow a rigorous process before approving write-offs.
    • Review all write-offs and near misses each month and provide a report to the Chief Risk Officer on trends identified and recommended actions.

    Education and experience required

    Diploma or equivalent NQF level 5 qualification
    Minimum:

    • At least 7 years’ recent experience supporting a senior-level executive or Listed Company Director
    • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Previous experience of successfully working in a dynamic, high demand work environment with tight deadlines, where the role required handling and maintenance of highly confidential and sensitive materials

    • Proactively engage with all the relevant bodies in the Transactional Banking space including effective partner management of Business Originators.

    • Review and update the department’s organization structure and role description on at least an annual basis to ensure that they are fit for purpose and contain all the accountabilities of each team member.

    • Approve leave requests for team members and create leave plan to ensure adequate coverage.
    • When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members calling on support from Human

    Qualification requirement 

    • Commercial B Degree in Business, Commerce and/or Management or equivalent NQF level 7 or higher qualification
    • At least 7 (seven) years banking Executive experience
    • An in depth understanding of systems, processes and operating procedures for Sales and a keen understanding of Credit and Operational Risk.
    • Detailed understanding of Sales Strategy, Physical Channels (branch banking operating structure and interface with Virtual Channels
    • Experience of managing teams and a distribution network spread across multiple cities / locations.

    Regulatory reporting specialist

    Job Summary

    • Responsible for collation and preparation of regulatory information to the Prudential Authority (PA) according to regulatory guidelines and procedures.

    Job Description

    Accountability:  Preparation and completion of BA returns

    • Collect information from various sources, i.e. Finance, Credit, Treasury and business units, Corporate and Investment Bank, Retail and Business Bank and Absa Regional Operations for the compilation and preparation of BA returns to the PA.
    • Coordinate resources from other areas of the Group, planning and managing the timetable for data collection, consolidation and review of data and information and to ensure that deadlines are met in respect of data submissions to the PA.
    • Calculate the relevant sections required of returns, such as Non-Standard Asset, Securitisation etc. for submission to the PA within set deadlines; drawing from source data, own financial and Basel knowledge and expertise.
    • Prepare, calculate and compile the working sheets in support of the relevant BA returns to the PA for review by the reviewer and management.
    • Maintain the mappings from the IFRS balance sheet and income statement line items to ensure that results are correctly reported in terms of the regulations.
    • Prepare and maintain the relevant working papers, calculations and or reconciliation in support of the BA return and other submissions to the PA.
    • Upload the BA returns after review into the PA submission tool (DIX).
    • Run validation checks on DIX and present for sign off by reviewer.
    • Investigate queries and draft responses thereto as received from the PA on an ad-hoc basis.
    • Meet reporting deadlines as set internally per working day timetables
    • Prepare the monthly management information and analysis packs on the BA returns for internal review.
    • Prepare the commentary and Executive Summary for the monthly management information packs.
    • Identify enhancements to current reporting processes and policies to achieve optimal efficiency.
    • Build relationship with all the relevant stakeholders in the process.

    • To drive and oversee projects which involves system development and automation.
