    Projects & Transitions Specialist - Rosebank

    Job Description:

    • Run complex Accounting Services (AS) & Employee Services (ES) transitions and/or projects from design and development stage to implementation and completion stage
    • Define requirements and plan transition and/or project lifecycle
    • Document management, including managing systems and tools during project delivery to ensure proper document management
    • Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning
    • Demonstrate leadership to define requirements for transition and project risk and allocate appropriate resources
    • Develop requests for proposals for external services
    • Communicate with all stakeholders
    • Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between transition projects

    Job Description:

    Manage and optimizes the operations of the ERP platform, ensuring seamless and efficient use of enterprise resource planning systems

    Manager: Capital Development

    Job Description:

    As a Manager: Capital Development you will lead the mining team to deliver safe, sustainable productive outcomes in accordance with annual plans. Be accountable for managing, directing and leading the execution of the underground scope of work which includes the mining development and underground construction activities for the Venetia Underground Project (VUP). The role involves fostering strategic relationships and integrated execution approaches with the EPCM consultant, major sinking/construction contractors and key Venetia Mine stakeholders. The role requires a strong emphasis on safety, risk management, design, engineering, procurement, cost management, scheduling, contracting business partners mining development and construction activities, commissioning and handover.

    Key duties of the Manager: Capital Development include:

    • Project Leadership: Lead the mining team to deliver safe, sustainable, and productive outcomes in line with annual plans.
    • Execution Oversight: Direct and lead the execution of the underground scope of work, including mining development and underground construction activities.
    • Strategic Relationships: Foster strategic relationships with EPCM consultants, major sinking/construction contractors, and key Venetia Mine stakeholders.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in large-scale underground mechanized mining operations.
    • Leadership experience with complex teams and large-scale projects.
    • Project, Mine and Contractor Management experience in large-scale mechanized underground projects.
    • Knowledge of PMBOK methodology and procurement and sourcing requirements.

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • Extensive career applying Engineering Management Principles in capital projects, with a focus on large, complex mining development projects.
    • Proven success in building and maintaining relationships at senior levels with diverse stakeholders, including suppliers, JV Partners, regulatory bodies, community stakeholders, research institutions, and industry associations.
    • Comprehensive expertise in project development, construction, and implementation, particularly within mining or similar industrial settings. Demonstrated track record of successful execution of construction projects.
    • Varied roles including Project Engineer, Engineering Manager, Project Manager, Area Manager on large implementation projects, and General Management within a mining environment. Also, experienced in Contractor Management for sizable implementation projects.
    • In-depth knowledge and practical application of PMBOK methodology in Construction Management, understanding of procurement and sourcing requirements, and proficiency in contract procedures within the mining industry.

    Regional Tax Manager

    Purpose of the role:

    To support the Head of Tax – Africa & Australia in partnering with businesses in South Africa (as well as other businesses in various African jurisdictions) from a tax perspective and supporting their tax advisory needs. Also, to support the Anglo Group, in such a way as to meet the statutory requirements while being consistent with the Anglo business strategy.

    Furthermore, to support the Head of Tax – Africa & Australia in delivery of his responsibility as regards the management of the Anglo American’s response to changing multilateral environment for tax, in particular as it relates to the development of tax policy on tax transparency, the tax risk and control environment and tax strategy generally.

    The Regional Tax Manager will serve three primary functions: The Country Tax Lead, the Country Risk Lead and Country Policy Lead (for the relevant African jurisdictions).

    Key Responsibilities:

    Governance/ Advisory/ Risk/ Policy

    Country Tax Lead:

    • Support the Head of Tax -Africa & Australia in the implementation of the Board approved tax strategy and the management of the Group’s tax affairs for all managed companies in Africa (incl. Anglo Platinum and Kumba Iron Ore).
    • Oversee all aspects of tax operations in Africa, incl. coordinating efforts of other Group Tax Teams.
    • Support the development of and management of relationships with key personnel within Group Tax and the Business Units and ensure they understand and apply Group policies.
    • Contribute towards maintenance and enhancement of relationships with tax authority personnel in relevant territories.
    • Liaise with outside advisors (incl. auditors, legal, investment bankers and other advisors) to ensure proper and efficient tax planning, business partnering and solutions. 
    • Train operational staff on pertinent tax matters
    • Assist with the review and updating of tax systems, procedures, and policies.
    • Provision of advice on day-to-day tax matters in the relevant territories, including transfer pricing.
    • Provide tax advice on transactions, including M&A (acquisitions and disposals) and transfer pricing.
    • Assist with adherence to transfer pricing policies and procedures and to ensure compliance with local transfer pricing regulations including master file, local file, and country-by-country obligations.
    • Work with the Operational Excellence team in the management of all tax audits, disputes, and tax litigation within the region.
    • Set direction for managing the tax aspects of reporting, including statutory reporting.
    • Set direction for managing the tax compliance for the group, including developing and maintaining relationships with tax authorities.
    • Assist with managing of external advisers engaged to undertake compliance obligations for Anglo American, where applicable, and assist and advise internal stakeholders as required.

    Country Risk Lead

    • Evaluate, assess and manage the in-country tax risk in line with the Ango Tax Risk Management Policy
    • Raise awareness of issues within the group in and effectively communicate tax issues to management.
    • End-to-end management of all uncertain tax positions.

    Country Policy Lead

    • Develop and maintain a tax policy framework in line with the Anglo guidelines.
    • Manage the analysis of changes to regimes as the result of significant multilateral policy changes on Global basis and advice on the implication for the Group.
    • Monitor and communicate legislative changes and practice to the wider tax team and business as appropriate.

    People / Leadership:

    • Demonstrate behaviour in line with the Group’s values, standards and a professional workplace.
    • Provide leadership to, and develop the performance of, your team in line with the Group’s policies and systems (e.g. performance management, talent management) in order to achieve business goals. As part of this:

    Manager Mining - Burgersfort

    Job Description:

    As our Manager Mining, your responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:

    Business Expectations:

    • Provide Mining-specific information as input to the development of the Life of Asset Plan and the Resource Development Plan.
    • Break down Group requirements and performance targets to site level, translate into site-specific targets and budgets and communicate to on-site teams.
    • Implement and monitor technical and operational improvements which includes the adoption of technological and digitalization / Future Mine requirements to meet sustainability.
    • Implement and execute the mining strategy to achieve production targets.

    Operational Planning:

    • Provide Mining input into site-specific 5-year plan, lead development and ongoing management of the site Mining BP and 1-year budget.
    • Review and sign off technical plans and production inputs for budgets and the Operating Master Schedule, ensuring they are based on sound logic with appropriate stretch and actionable planned improvements.
    • Work with Corporate/ BU/Technical Services to develop and implement plans and to optimize extraction, material movement and grade management.
    • Establish effective communication and feedback processes for Mining teams and key stakeholder groups to ensure people are informed and aware of business objectives, performance and direction in a timely and routine manner.
    • Drive continuous improvement of on-site Mining work and cross-functional interfaces required to deliver safe, sustainable and efficient operations.
    • Ensure there is an agreed plan in place to deliver improvements to benchmark on all priority Mining equipment within 3 years.

    Work Management:

    • Effectively lead and manage Mining operations to deliver the budget including all relevant production, safely, environmental, cost and quality targets.
    • Manage process and costs to ensure the Mining teams set and deliver the annual budget and production targets safely, efficiently and cost effectively.
    • Develop cost awareness within Mining discipline and focus on reducing all process waste.
    • Work closely, collaborate proactively and resolve issues jointly with Processing to align tonnage to fragmentation/volume/grade targets and with AS&R to align equipment availability targets, fixed plan infrastructure operational reliability programs.
    • Embed systems, targets and processes to effectively track and control execution on a monthly basis, ensuring a high level of compliance to plan across suite of metrics.
    • Apply work management principles and processes of AAOM to ensure appropriately detailed operational and execution planning over multiple time horizons.
    • Optimize the Dispatch Fleet Management System (and mine management systems) to ensure efficient mining operations in line with plans and the delivery of benchmark performance on priority equipment.
    • Review mining equipment fleet selection and equipment performance, considering maintenance/operational performance outcomes and installed system capability/capacity.
    • Provide thought leadership to all mining activities to ensure a realistic range of options are investigated, considered and effectively implemented, with recognition of effective discipline integration and value from synergies.

    Feedback:

    • Identify and embed business initiatives and improvement projects into site operational processes to support delivery of best practice mining performance (P101).
    • Proactively identify Mining-related challenges and opportunities that new systems, equipment and technology could address.
    • Embed new technologies into the on-site Mining work once solution design is execution-ready.
    • This role is in the Mining department at a Band 5 level reporting to the General Manager

    Qualifications:

    You will be required to have the following: 

    • BEng Mining / BTech Eng Mining / NHD Metalliferous Mining (essential)
    • Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (essential)
    • Master’s Degree will be an advantage.

    Reporting and Compliance

    • Ensure rigorous documentation and reporting of all trauma cases, treatments, and outcomes, maintaining compliance with local health regulations and company policies.
    • Lead the analysis of trauma incidents to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement, and develop strategies to mitigate future incidents.

    Qualifications:

    • MBChB
    • Diploma in Emergency Care (DIPEC) (Not essential)
    • Masters in Business Administration or similar management qualification (Not essential)
    • Valid registration with HPCSA

    Experience    

    • 5 to 10 years in a medical management position
    • Extensive experience in trauma care, with a preference for experience in high-risk industries such as mining
    • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing medical teams.
