    Senior Traffic Engineer Technologist

    Role Responsibilities:

    • System planning and operational support to a functioning IPTN system. Role responsibilities include:
    • Planning oversight of existing IPTN route operations, including investigation of complaints, and requests for service amendments using available resources, such as the ITS, AFC, OMS, and field survey results.   
    • Plan surveys, engage with surveying team, and analysis of results.
    • Investigate the implications of both planned and unplanned events on operations (i.e. routes and timetables), and propose temporary service amendments.
    • Plan, implement and report on data extraction and analysis activities that identify opportunities for bus operation improvements.
    • Scheduling of services, including the development and amendment of timetables as well as review and verification of scheduling undertaken by the vehicle operating company (VOC).
    • Issuing of temporary and permanent Variation Orders for service amendments.
    • Planning of new routes as necessitated by demand.
    • Assistance with compilation of monthly payment certificates review reports.
    • Collaboration with other work streams including, but not limited to, Infrastructure and Fleet teams.
    • Clear and concise reporting of investigations undertaken in both report and presentation formats.
    • Attendance and reporting at various meetings with operational teams, Clients, third parties etc.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A self-motivated individual with the ability to work under pressure, and having: a Mechanical / Civil Engineering Degree BSc or B Eng, or higher
    • Professional registration or being in the process of obtaining professional registration.
    • 5 years minimum relevant working experience with an interest in Public Transport and Transport Planning.
    • An understanding of IPTN systems, including their design and operation and how they function as integrated systems.
    • A basic understanding of the ITS and AFC systems in terms of how they interface with and support operations, as well as their benefits and shortfalls will be advantageous.
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel (ability to code macros using Visual Basic being an added advantage).
    • Some knowledge of software packages such as Access and Power Bi will be advantageous.
    • Good report writing and direct client communications skills.
    • The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team across a diverse range of projects.
    • A valid South Africa driving licence and a willingness and the ability to travel, when required.

    • Evaluating and re-engineering business processes

    Structural Engineer (Industrial Infrastructure)

    Role responsibilities

    • Preparing reports, designs, and drawings (including calculations about loads and stresses)
    • Providing technical advice, and liaising with relevant professional staff across multiple international locations (Australia, and New Zealand)
    • Managing project designs relevant to petrochemical, industrial structures and/or energy Infrastructure projects.

    Project Scheduler / Planner

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Recognised qualification (desirable).
    • At least 3-4 years experience in Project Controls functions, with a minimum of 2 years experience in a Project Planning and Scheduling role on projects.
    • Demonstrated experience and understanding of project management principles, with knowledge of planning principles.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in planning software packages, including Primavera P6 v7 or later as well as Microsoft Project.
    • Knowledge of related project controls functions including estimating, cost control, change control and reporting principles.
    • Knowledge of document control functions and Electronic Document Management Systems.

    Added advantage:

    • Mining and Engineering project experience.
    • Ability to work and deliver without immediate supervision.

    Responsibilities:

    • Generate, review and maintain integrated schedules and schedule logic.
    • Monitoring of planned versus actual progress (with progress based on physical quantities).
    • Developing look-ahead schedules and critical path views for specific plant areas.
    • Follow best practices, and implement and improve planning procedures.
    • Effective interfacing with the Project team, Client and Contractors to ensure accurate interfacing between the contractors’ schedules and the integrated master schedule.
    • Attend regular meetings with stakeholders/ contractors to ensure that interface issues are resolved and that the schedules are optimised.
    • Facilitate planning meetings in conjunction with the Senior planner as necessary.
    • Track changes in work scope.

    Skill requirements:

    • Provide the project planning input to the Project Controls Plan, ensuring alignment between project functions (e.g., Schedule – Cost interface at the project level).
    • Develop the project Basis of Schedule, establish, and maintain the project master schedule, accordingly, ensuring a clear schedule control process is implemented. 
    • Implement the expanded WBS structure for projects.
    • Define schedule activity detail per discipline and develop key deliverable lists per discipline.
    • Build and maintain overall project schedule including activity logic; activity codes and resources, with clear identification of critical path, and update as defined by the project reporting cycle.
    • Provide support to the project risk management process by identifying key project risks and constraints within the project schedule and producing ‘What If” scenarios.
    • Define and implement the metric for progress measurement and provide planning and schedule performance inputs to project status reporting.
    • Produce schedule analysis reports for review by the Project Team, advising the Project Controls Manager / Project Manager of potential delays/issues.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Relevant qualification (BEng, BSc, or B Tech) in Electrical Engineering with at least 10 years of post-graduate relevant experience
    • Registered member of associated Professional body, e.g. PrEng or PrEng Tech

    Engineer Representative / Resident Engineer

    Overall Purpose:  

    Zutari Tshwane is currently looking for an Engineer’s Representative (ER/RE) to join their team, responsible for construction supervision within the project environment. The position is based on site in the Northern Cape in the Hotazhel area for a period of 18 to 24 months.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • BSc, BEng, BTech in Civil Engineering
    • Pr.Eng / PR.Tech Registration with ECSA will be an advantage
    • Pr CPM Registration with SACPCPM will be an advantage
    • Minimum 10 years working experience in Construction Supervision as “Engineers Representative”, “Resident Engineer” or similar
    • Must have working Experience in Roads or Rail or Civil Works in Mining
    • Thorough working knowledge of Conditions of Contract (FIDIC 1999 / 2017, NEC 3/4, GCC 2010/2015 and JBCC)

    Key Responsibilities: Project Delivery

    • Supervise all construction and installation activities on site and monitoring contractor's progress
    • Technical input to the progress reports on all works being carried out at the site, and offer regular update on progress and measurements for work complete
    • Review and monitor equipment, site staff and work methods, identify deficiency of performance before the occurrence of delays and/or non-compliances.
    • Manage and report on all commercial matters: Contractor’s invoice, issue Non-Conformance Reports, Site Instructions, record and verify delays or claims, variation orders, address non-conformances and discrepancies
    • Ensure site work, laboratory tests and designs are carried out in accordance with specification requirements, codes and standards, HSE regulations.
    • Ensure proper record keeping of all corresponding information are maintained up to date
    • Manage operation and staff on site, including Coaching and mentoring junior technical staff
    • Ensure strict safety and security regulations compliance, and that environmental protection measures during construction are properly carried out.
    • Ensure compliance with OH&S and environmental requirements
