    Operations Squad Lead: Insights and Data Monetisation

    Role Purpose

    • The purpose of the Operations Squad Lead: Insights and Data Monetisation (IDM), is to install themselves into the various value streams within the Tribe to support the other squad leads in achieving their objectives by enhancing operational efficiencies, supporting work streams to enable tasks to be completed on time and within scope, identifying and providing resources to support execution, and managing projects and activity streams. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of the IDM Tribe, as well as the Services team and Shoprite Buying and Category Management teams.Ultimately, the Operations Squad Lead MUST be a servant leader, acting as enabler and supporter, influencing others without direct lines of reporting, playing for the team, and will be an operational extension of the Head of the IDM Tribe.

    Role Description

    Commercial Squad Lead - Insights and Monetisation

    Role Purpose

    The purpose of the Commercial Squad Lead: Insights and Data Monetisation (IDM), is to identify, develop, and execute new data-driven commercial opportunities and to leverage and enhance existing commercial offering to achieve revenue targets. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of the IDM Tribe, as well as the Services team and Shoprite Buying and Category Management teams in pursuing commercial opportunities and sales.

    Ultimately, the Commercial Lead will identify and grow a sales pipeline, produce, and present sales and marketing collateral to prospects, convey a narrative of value, close deals, and manage contracting. Beyond these sales activities, they will also identify new commercial opportunities in close alignment with the Head of IDM.

    Role Description

    Digital Campaign Manager

    Role Purpose 

    The purpose of the Digital Campaign Specialist role is to maximise ad delivery efficiency and effectiveness through the successful execution of the digital campaign strategy and all related operations. The role uses data and technology to develop and fulfil digital campaigns, ensuring creative and engaging messaging and appropriate delivery channels and reporting. 

    The role supports digital campaign management accounts and activities in accordance with the business intent and trade plans, initiating, managing and reporting on related campaigns, managing assigned accounts and taking the lead within the portfolio of accounts to provide end-to-end delivery according to planned timelines and quality standards. The role further drives the improvement of processes within the assigned portfolio of accounts.

    IT Warehouse Supervisor

    The purpose of the Warehouse Dispatch Supervisor role is to supervise the logistical operations within the main Shoprite IT warehouse, including assuming end-to-end oversight for the receiving bay as well as managing a team of receiving clerks and general assistants to ensure that IT equipment is stored and dispatched in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. The role requires someone who is organised, detail-orientated and results-driven to ensure the seamless execution of warehouse processes while maximising warehouse productivity. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising the team, coordinating logistical processes, ensuring the quality of equipment and executing administrative functions.

    Logistics:

    • Plan, organise and supervise the execution of daily warehouse operations including controlling the receiving, movement, and distribution of IT equipment into and out of the warehouse.
    • Supervise the allocation and dispatching of orders, ensuring timely stock shipment to correct destinations for new store openings, projects, ad-hoc requests, and support users. Prioritise dispatch of orders according to business urgency / needs (e.g., pop up stores, store openings, emergency orders).
    • Receive equipment and schedule the issuing of new stock, ensuring stock is issued according to availability, shipment expectations and project scheduling.
    • Schedule and execute supplier deliveries.
    • Execute warehouse resource management processes and space allocations for incoming shipments.
    • Execute receiving procedure and stock flow through to staging, workshop, warehouse, or end user.

Update new store listings and report on any outstanding orders to line and relevant field manager.
    • Support the audit department with all requirements for monthly financial stock takes.

    • Maintain stock supplier relationships.

    Machine Learning Engineer

    Role Purpose

    The Machine Learning Engineer I is an emerging specialist professional who will kick start their careers by supporting the ML team to apply computer science (including data structures, algorithms, computability and complexity) statistical modeling, and software engineering in machine learning operations (MLOps) to build cutting edge, end-to-end ML data models. The role supports the development of solutions and design of self-running and automated software and predictive models to enable the Group increase efficiencies, reduce costs, identify opportunities that generate value and drive data as a competitive advantage.

    Role Description

    • Participate in stakeholder meetings and work with senior colleagues to analyze business problems, clarify requirements and define the scope of the resolution needed.
    • Collaborate within a cross-functional team of Data Scientists, Engineers and Analysts in order to understand project goals, and build, implement and scale-up algorithms for measurable impact.
    • Display basic understanding of ANN's, CNN's, RNN's, autoencoders, fundamental data science concepts (linear and logistic regression, SVM's, dimensionality reduction), decision trees, gradient boosting, ensemble models, etc. to develop machine learning models.
    • Work with above architectures within deep learning frameworks such as Keras and TensorFlow.
    • Demonstrate foundational understanding of relevant applications and/or systems (including, but not limited to, the machine learning algorithms) being created.
    • Build basic algorithms based on statistical modelling procedures and build and maintain machine learning solutions in production.
    • Use data modelling and evaluation strategy to find patterns and predict unseen instances.
    • Train models on large-scale data and fine tune hyper-parameters.
    • Research appropriate machine learning algorithms and tools and work with senior colleagues to select the correct libraries, programming languages and frameworks for each task.
