    Job description

    Design, development, and implementation of computer software

    • Design of databases, services and user interface of applications; part of the packaging and release team of systems, design of the graphics and styling structure, documentation of help guides, training procedures, testing procedures and read me files of systems; optimization of systems; ensure best possible solutions for unforeseen issues relating to the system/software.

    Maintenance of existing software

    • Integration of data into existing systems; active forum member for requests and bug-fixing; technical assistance; evaluation of systems/software and bug-fixing; updating of relevant documentation.

    Resource and product development

    • General development of systems, applications, core technologies and text resources, including research

    Minimum requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

    Other competency requirements:

    • 3 years’ experience in computer engineering, and computer science or system/software development

    Assistant Accountant

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    • Reconciliation of NWU Student Debtor related accounts and control over NWU student account matters

    Reconciliations of NWU Student Debtor related accounts:

    • Monthly reconciliations of several Student Debtor related accounts for the approval of the campus managers of Student Accounts and Bursaries
    • Follow up on reconciling items for corrections with each campus
    • Compiling of KFS correction journals
    • Maintenance of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of each applicable reconciliation process

    Back-office control over student credit refunds:

    • Weekly reporting on credit refunds on student accounts
    • Follow-up and reporting on discrepancies

    Administration of Student Account matters

    • Composition of VSS Codes for alignment
    • Preparing and processing of BPEL (mass uploading) files on VSS for campuses
    • Management of debit-and credit amounts R150 on student accounts
    • Handling, recon and follow up of student deceased estates
    • Realpay reconciliation and levies
    • Assistance with open days and registration period

    Allowances

    • Assist with accommodation applications for bursary students
    • Providing of data to frontline staff members to handle follow-up enquires on allowances and payments of accommodation
    • Reconciliation and compiling of a monthly check- list to identify and correct discrepancies in allowances charged, levied, and paid
    • Allocations of re-payments from General Ledger to student accounts 

    Ad Hoc

    • Assist with reasonable and ad-hoc task that are assigned by the manager within the line of duty
    • Back-up assistance to Student Accounts of each campus

    Minimum requirements

    • Grade 12 is essential
    • B Com Degree (NQF 7) or Diploma (NQF 6) specialising in Accounting/ Financial Accounting is essential
    • Knowledge of NWU systems such as VSS-STG/REC and KFS systems is desirable
    • 4 years’ experience in a Financial and/or accounts environment is essential
    • 3 years Advanced experience in Excel is essential

    Specialist Environmental Management (N001232)

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: JOB DESCRIPTION

    Environmental Management System:

    • Develop and implement environmental management system and action plans, to ensure sustainable development and compliance

    Environmental auditing and risk management: Environmental Compliance to ensure delivery of the NWU goals, objectives, and compliance to corporate and legislative requirements:

    • Compile environmental audit reports as required.
    • Compile environmental impact assessments as required.
    • Ongoing identification and assessment of environmental impacts.
    • Conduct monthly audits to ensure that environmental requirements are being adhered to.
    • Inspect and monitor compliance with environmental management requirements, including approved Environmental Authorizations and Environmental Management Programs

    Environmental Training and awareness programmes: In coordination with the OHS/SHE coordinator:

    • Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of an the NWU, of the impact of emerging environmental aspects and impacts.
    • Train staff and students at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilities.
    • Participate in environmental education training development.

    Environmental Reporting: Compile reports and maintain data:

    • Collect and maintain data required for environmental reporting.
    • Manage waste collection and sampling techniques.
    • Data for reporting on water and air quality monitoring.
    • Ensure accurate submission/reporting of various Environmental reports, to statutory/regulatory bodies.
    • Write and compile environmental reports (lead responsibility) for various NWU Management meetings and structures.

    Environmental Incident Management

    • Record, investigate and report on environmental incidents internally and externally as required.

    Minimum requirements

    • Bachelor of Sciences (BSc Degree) at NQF Level 7 specializing in Environmental Sciences / Environmental Management is essential
    • Postgraduate Diploma (NQF Level 5) in Management is essential 
    • Membership to SACNASP / IAIA / SAATCA is desirable
    • 5 years in Environmental Management experience is essential
    • 5 years in Environmental System Development and Management experience is essential 

    FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS):

    Bursary Officer

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    • The purpose of this position is to administer bursary administration for various Bursars and to assist students, parents, and stakeholders with all enquiries

    Key Responsibilities:

    Internal Bursary Administration

    • Receive bursary applications

    • Assist academic staff in all training events, demonstrations, supervision, and evaluation of Poultry Production students during practical sessions.
