    HR Manager

    Job Description

    1.1          Human Resources Management

    • Work with the MD to strategically plan HR initiatives that will benefit the company and encourage more efficient employee relations

    • Continuously develop, update and maintain HR policies and procedures.

    • Foster cross-functional relationships and ensure managers and employees are properly connected

    • Manage and supervise other HR staff, ensuring they are assigned and carry out proper tasks

    • Understand and adhere to all pertinent labour laws

    • Manages the implementation and administration of policies by ensuring that it is aligned to company needs

    • Liaise and guide management on best employee practices in the workplace

    • Accountable to ensure that the company adheres to and is in compliance with the NBCRFLI Main Agreement.

    • Timeous compilation and submission of the annual EE Report

    • Responsible to approve the annual ATR/WSP prior to submission to TETA

    • Initiate and arrange for the annual verification of the B BBEE Certification

    • Regular review and update of Heavy Vehicle drivers salary structure to ensure maximum efficiency and labour stability

    • Contribute to the evaluation and development of HR strategy and performance in co-operation with the senior management team

    1.2          Internal, External Partners & Client Effectiveness

    • Initiate and maintain a good relationship and rapport with external stakeholders ( recruitments agents,  company attorneys,  etc)

    • Establish a professional relationship with NBCRFLI agents

    • Render an effective HR support service internally to create a need for the use of and for these services across disciplines

    1.3          Labour Relations

    • Responsible to ensure labour stability through fair employment practices

    • Develop, update and maintain Disciplinary Policy ,Procedure and Directives document

    • Continuously review Company Operational Rules to ensure relevance and compliance

    • Responsible to attend to all negotiations with union/s from time to time

    • Continuous liaison with the NBCRFLI and resolve all enquiries and foster healthy relationship

    • Responsible to ensure that the company is in full compliance with the NBCRFLI Main Collective Agreement

    • Represent the company at the CCMA/NBCRFLI in all dispute matters ( Conciliation/Arbitration cases)

    • Act as chairperson in all complicated disciplinary hearings

    • Oversee the day to day handling of disciplinary matters (written warning, final written warnings, notice to attend disciplinary hearings and authorization to deduct from employee’s salary)

    • Counselling of employees on continuous basis

    9.4      People Management

    • The effective management of all staff in the HR division.

    • Provide professional advice to all staff on HR related problems

    • Apply a comprehensive knowledge of business structure and work flows to maximize organisational structure around customer.

     

    9.5       Training

    • Ensure the development and maintenance of an H R Development program to facilitate the development of employees (primarily heavy vehicle drivers) and to ensure a constant supply of competent existing drivers according to organisational strategic requirements

    • Oversee the recruitment, induction and orientation of new heavy vehicle drivers

    9.6       General HR Administration 

    • Directs establishment and maintenance of employee records systems, personnel filing system in compliance with POPIA

    • Ensure that monthly employee statistic are compiled and accurate

    • Check, verify and approve monthly return of NBCRFLI levies and Provident Fund returns for payment before the 20th of the month.

    • Prepare and submit the Dept of Statistics’ Quarterly Submissions.

    • Ensure that all administrative functions related to NBCRFLI submissions are performed on time

    • Review and update the HR Manual on annual basis

    • Ensure that the annual NBCRFLI wages and benefits are implemented on time to prevent non- compliance orders

    • On monthly basis check the driver’s pay roll for any discrepancies before payment

    • Administer and control the preparation of all relevant HR documents for the B BBEE verification

    9.7       Staffing

    • Responsible for the recruitment, interview and appointment procedure of all admin, finance, technical and training employees

    • Ensure that the appointment contacts are legally in compliance with labour law 

    • Oversee the recruitment and appointment process of Heavy Vehicle drivers and general employees

    • Direct the recruitment and training for new employees

    • Negotiate placement Agreements with Recruitment Agents

     

    Qualifications

    • Related Degree 

    • At least 5 years experience as a Human Resources Officer as well as 5 years experience as a Labour Relations Officer OR

    • 10 years experience as a Human Resources Generalist
