    Senior IT System Administrator

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    • To maintain and optimize our organization's IT infrastructure. As a Senior IT System Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing our servers, network systems, security, and other critical IT components. You will be tasked with ensuring our systems are running efficiently, reliably, and securely while providing guidance to other IT staff as required

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage and maintain our IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, network, and security systems.
    • Monitor and optimize the performance of our IT systems to ensure maximum uptime and availability.
    • Responsible for active directory, security and licensing of all users and systems.
    • Ensure the availability and consistent performance of ecommerce, card payment system, point of sale system and business applications.
    • Oversee the deployment, installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
    • Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations while minimizing impact on users.
    • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures to protect against data loss and system downtime.
    • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of our systems and data.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues as required.
    • Develop and maintain system documentation, processes, and procedures.
    • Mentor and train junior IT staff and provide guidance and assistance to other departments as required.

    COMPETENCIES

    Knowledge required:

    • Windows 10 & Server 2012R2 and later
    • Office 365 and Azure Administration
    • Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, NPS
    • Device management and system security (Intune & Apple Business Manager)
    • Firewall, endpoint & intrusion protection (FortiGate & Microsoft Defender)
    • Virtualization (Hyper-V)
    • Storage, backup, and recovery
    • Exchange Online Hybrid
    • LAN / WAN / VPN
    • CCTV Systems

    Skills required:

    • Ability to prioritize and solve problems in demanding situations.
    • Time management skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to explain technical concepts to inexperienced users.
    • Manage and build working relationships with service providers.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • BSc / BA / National Diploma in computer science, information technology or equivalent professional certification
    • 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator with a focus on managing enterprise-level systems.
    • Experience and certified with Microsoft Azure cloud-based services.
    • Experience managing and configuring network switches, routers, and firewalls.
    • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    • Microsoft 365 Certified – Security, Messaging, Identity and Access, and Teams administrator associate.
    • Strong technical knowledge of server hardware, virtualization, storage systems, networking, security, and operating systems such as Windows and macOS.
    • Relevant industry certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, or similar are desirable.
    • Valid South African ID
    • No criminal record
