Specialist Internal Auditor (Cesta) at eThekwini Municipality

Key Responsibility Areas

• Implement the rolling audit (three year rolling audit coverage plans) programme within the area of responsibility to obtain the optimum level of assurance Council-wide.
• Assist to develop and implement a combined assurance programme.
• Assist to develop and implement a clean audit framework for the area of responsibility.
• Ensure effective Audit Committee’s oversight and strategic support to other committees i.e. MPAC, Riskcom, Council EXCO and Portfolio Committee, as well as the City Manager.
• Assist to develop and implement an Audit Methodology / Procedural Manual as compulsory guidance to ensure consistent implementation of the audit process in line with standards.
• Disseminate functional and operational information on the immediate, short and long term objectives and, current applications and constraints.
• Manage the administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators of the area of responsibility.
• Build knowledge management system (continuity and business recovery process) of the financial remit of Internal Audit.

Essential Requirements

• Degree (NQF Level 7) or equivalent in Financial Auditing or Auditing with Auditing or Internal Auditing as a major.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 5 years relevant experience in managing multi-functional teams in operational audits.
• Computer Literacy.

Preferred Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) or equivalent in Financial Auditing or Auditing with Auditing or Internal Auditing as a major and CIA/CA registration.
• 6 years relevant experience in local government.
