    A&H Underwriter

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Management and responsibility of the Corporate and Affinity A&H portfolio, from a production perspective, targeting an agreed combined ratio and an agreed growth target for the portfolio.
    • Ensure management of expense and loss ratios across the portfolio, and adjust where required to ensure combined ratio is met.
    • Management and growth of the portfolio and ensuring execution of agreed strategies.
    • Lead, grow and service existing broker relationships while assisting with management of the Corporate marketing plan, including quarterly e-communications, entertainment and specific initiatives.
    • Drive and quote on identified new business opportunities through proactive pipeline management to ensure agreed metrics are met.
    • Manage agreed logs, reports, tools and calls, ensuring all are maintained accurately and timeously.
    • Attend industry functions and provide feedback on market trends. Present to and consult with team on business trends with a view to developing new products, and distribution channels.
    • Support Operational division to ensure new and renewal closings are received on time and are processed accurately, including booking of premium. Support Finance division with ensuring premiums are paid on time.
    • Responsible for delivering timely and accurate reports as agreed to local, regional and external parties.
    • using predetermined underwriting authority and processes to achieve agreed goals.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    Knowledge & Experience

    • Minimum Grade 12 (matric) - Maths and English essential.
    • Tertiary qualification is advantageous (Business Degree or Insurance Diploma)
    • Must be FAIS compliant (Representative certificate)
    • Relevant Insurance / Financial services experience with a consistent track record
    • Business Development experience preferred
    • Accident & Health related insurance experience is highly desireable
    • Experience in a matrix organisational structure with current relationships within the Corporate Broking market is an advantage
    • Strong presentation skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
