    Manager:Commercial Loss (Job ID: 395642)

    PURPOSE
    Reduce Unaccounted for Water, with the emphasis on commercial losses, by planning, coordinating, controlling, and managing commercial loss programs and projects such as the replacement and surveying of water meters.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and implement a commercial loss management strategy in line with the company’s strategic plan and balance score card.
    • Identify new Management Information System developments and write the necessary system specification.
    • Responsible for commercial loss risk management in JWater (ongoing).
    • Manage projects for the on-site surveying of water meters, e.g.to determine non-domestic users in deemed areas; standby stand surveys, etc.
    • Manage the analysis of surveyed data to ensure accurate billing related information (Data Cleansing) and accurate statistics for decision making.
    • Identify, implement, and manage pro-active meter replacement programs.
    • Ensure that the Management Information System (Data Cleansing Database) containing relevant data of properties surveyed is maintained by subordinates.
    • Ensure that a proper backup system is implemented and maintained by the Database Administrator.
    • Ensure that reported criminal irregularities (theft & misuse of water) are investigated and Compliance Notices issued to transgressors.
    • Ensure that requests for legalisation are issued to and completed by the depots.
    • Manage the full project cycle survey contracts, including capturing, issuing, analysing, and updating of data.
    • Assist CAPEX to manage meter replacement (Commercial Loss’ Project) and meter fault contracts (JWater Project).
    • Ensure that the quality of on-site work done by the contractor is according to JWater standards.
    • Ensure that queries, which were escalated to the section, are investigated, resolved, or referred to the relevant stakeholders.
    • Develop individual and team competence, e.g., PDP’s, training, and succession planning, manage workplace climate – communicate and ensure compliance to policies and procedures.
    • Plan, develop and manage the Operating Expenditure Budget for Commercial Loss.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS
    Essential qualifications and experience:

    •  Business / Engineering / IT / Finance related Diploma or Degree (NQF 6 / 7)
    •  8 years working experience of which 4 years must be at a management level, A minimum of 3 years data/systems analysis or business analysis, and 1-year meter billing related experience.
    •  Code B drivers’ licence.

    Meter Maintenance Technician - REF: METERMAINT JW386EX/2024

    PURPOSE

    Carry out installation, field maintenance, repairs, commissioning on a combination of ± 500 Electromagnetic and mechanical bulk flow meters.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure daily maintenance of accurate records in bulk meter technical section and installation of data.
    • Check and capture bulk meter readings daily for electronic storage.

    Manager: GIS – REF: MANAGERGIS JW386EX/2024

    PURPOSE

    Effectively manage the system administration and development of the Johannesburg Water GIS department in order to ensure a stable technological environment, efficient utilisation of resources, controlled secure access to JW spatial data sets and development of GIS systems and websites. Manage the design, implementation, population, and maintenance of GIS application for cadastral, water and sewer data as required by JW service departments and advise and implement interfaces ensuring data availability between Alchemy, SAP and IMQS,

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Identify and define objectives associated with data administration and development of GIS systems.
    • Evaluate and comment on applicability of specific key performance indicators and measures against outcomes detailed in the Department’s business and strategic Plans.
    • Monitor the adequacy of current training interventions supporting personnel developments and reporting on workplace impact post training and/or the need for changes to the plans.
    • Implement HR policies and procedures to control/regulate workplace conflict and / or instituting corrective measures and consultation processes to address deviations from standards.
    • Analyze trends, operating requirements and forward plans to establish funding for the period, assessing the accuracy of project estimations referring to specifications.

    PURPOSE

    • To procure annual services and materials on tender to meet operational requirements.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
