Minimum Experience:

• Eight years’ experience, with at least five years’ experience in laboratory management (human, financial, and infrastructure resources).
• Eight years’ experience in the application of laboratory and environmental quality assurance (QA), good laboratory practice (GLP) and management systems including laboratory safety practices.
• Five years’ experience in providing a consultancy service related to Chemical and environmental sciences and Chemistry of drinking water quality.
• More than five years’ experience in the development, implementation and management of multi- disciplinary research programmes and /or special problem-solving investigations.
• Good scientific publication and report producing record

Primary Duties

• Develop and implement strategic plans for the Chemistry Section that would result in competent accredited laboratories with the necessary resources, that will enable the laboratory to provide chemical data and information.
• Responsible for the selection of analytical infrastructure, applicable methodology or instrumentation and skill to effectively apply the financial resources and systems to ensure the development, optimisation, safe implementation and conduction of analytical testing procedures and processes
• Accountable for the procurement of laboratory goods and services to meet resource requirements as well as compliance requirements as stipulated in the Rand Water SCM policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the management of human resources to ensure an effective work force that deliver on the Section’s responsibility to Rand water, its customers and partners
• Accountable for the timeous delivery the analytical data and associated information that meets national (SANS 241, Blue Drop and Green Drop) and international standards using best fit technology.
• Conduct the necessary investigations and solve customer complaints and enquiries related to chemical aspects of water value chain (source to drinking to catchment)
• Accountable for the management of all quality and safety aspects of the chemistry laboratories (Inorganic and Organic Chemistry) to ensure a comprehensive and competitive service that meets applicable standards (ISO 17025, ISO 9000, ISO 45001, ISO 14001) is delivered or rendered at all times even in the midst of a pandemic (e.g. COVID-19)
• Responsible for the provision of a consultancy service and technical support related to all aspects of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry to the various departments in Rand Water, its external customers and partners.
• Initiate and manage innovative water related multi-disciplinary research or special investigations in the Inorganic and Organic Chemistry fields that would support the strategic objectives of Rand Water.

Minimum Requirements

• Promote proactive and reactive health and wellness programmes in conjunction with the Corporate Wellness Team.
• Oversee the grievance and disciplinary management of cases at the Site in line with the Corporate ER processes and procedures.
• Establish, update and implement an effective communication strategy for Site activities, as well as promoting an effective stakeholder management.
• Remaining abreast of developments in the external environment with regard to national HR trends, legalization and macro industry-related issues.
• Manage the budget for the BWD-HR and any other functional responsibilities such as asset control in accordance with Rand Water policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) / BProc.
• Admission as an Attorney is highly recommended.
• Postgraduate qualification is recommended.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of Public-Private Partnerships.
• Must have experience of providing advice on public sector procurement law, specifically advising on areas such as PPPFA, PFMA etc.
• Must be able to negotiable, draft and vet contracts in the areas of general contract, cross-border transactions, preparations of particular conditions of contracts for FIDIC contracts e.t.c

• Manage and execute on all legal instructions allocated as and when required.
• Provide strategic legal support, advice, guidance and provide direction to the Rand Water Group
• Management of litigation/arbitration for and on behalf of Rand Water and liaise with internal stakeholders and be able to assist with development of best litigation strategies to be adopted for each matter and being able to formulate legal strategies in resolving litigation
• Develop and implement legal strategies in support of Rand Water’s strategy and growth pillars.
• Assessment of business needs and provide operational advice regarding contracting, projects implementation and assistance with operational support for the entire Rand Water Group.
• Provide legal support to different committees which may be constituted subject to business needs such as providing support to Bid Committees, etc.
• Preparing of memoranda, contracts, opinions, and other legal documents.
• Ability to liaise external stakeholder such as appointed law firms in handling of litigation.
• Ability to advise the organisation on prospects of success of each litigation, negotiate settlement of matters and advise on the best settlement terms as and when required.
• Prepare instructions to external attorneys promptly and accurately and ensure that instructions are timeously given to the external law firms.
• Conduct legal research and advise the organisation on the best and available legal strategies in line with the new, relevant, and correct legal principles.
• Provide legal training to different business units on applicable legal issues which is relevant for a particular business unit;
• Review and provide comments on bills, draft regulations, instruction notes and any other legal instruments which may have an impact on Rand Water Group.

• Coordination and minute taking for Section and Station projects progress meetings,
• Produce various reports including Job Creation status, .
• Assist the Project Managers in updating electronic project files.
