    AYP Professional Nurse X 2 - Cape Town

    We seek a NIMART Professional Nurse To provide direct service delivery and strengthen health system through initiating or enhancing the roll-out of various clinical services within the Anova Adolescents & Youth Programme.  The NIMART professional nurse provided a comprehensive package of adolescent & youth-friendly services, including HTS, PrEP, ART, STI services, TB, comprehensive SRHR and some psychosocial services to adolescents and youth attending the AYFS clinics.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work in DOH PHC facilities to initiate & follow up HIV negative adolescents and youth (or adults) on PrEP
    • Initiate and follow up HIV infected clients on ART (adolescents and youth (and adults)
    • Initiate, follow up and manage TB HIV infected adolescents and youth in line with DOH HIV Management guidelines and Anova workplan and Facility 959595 plans
    • Provide PICT, screening for TB, STIs, Sexual Reproductive health (SRH) & and other chronic conditions and manage symptomatic patients appropriately
    • Provide phlebotomy services for pre-treatment (baseline investigations for ART and PrEP) as well as monitoring of patients with HIV, TB and those on PrEP.
    • Assess and refer adolescents and youth in need of other services to higher level of care or other DREAMS partners, CBO’s and NGO’s, in line with DOH and agreed upon bi-directional referral guidelines.
    • Manage referrals from community adolescent, youth and OVC partners and record these appropriately
    • Ensure accurate completion of ART/PrEP clinical stationery and all relevant NDOH and AYFS registers, as per NDOH guidelines
    • Pre-pack, script, fill-in forms and consult with adolescent & youth in Youth Care Clubs and PrEP.
    • Able to provide clinical service at our community mobile as required and ensure all clinical stationery are available at the mobile and PrEP stock control and report timeously to the line manager.
    • Conduct clinic file audits (ART, TB, PrEP) for each supported facility and Working with the mentorship and quality improvement teams to implement corrective measures where needed.
    • Ensure facilities have and abide by latest HIV, PrEP, TB, STI and SRHR guidelines
    • Ensure availability of stationery and drugs
    • Be available to support Anova & DOH HTS events/campaigns or invites from youth and OVC community-based partners on weekdays & weekends when requested
    • Mentor professional (& Enrolled nurses where required) nurses at DOH facilities on the implementation of youth-friendly services and age- age-appropriate health care
    • Support facilities with implementation of YCC’s clubs through advocating for adolescent and youth days or spaces in line with Anova workplan
    • Submission of Daily, Weekly & monthly reports to the clinical mentor, CNP or relevant Anova senior staff member supporting the facility at the regional level.
    • Weekly and monthly debriefings with Anova teams lead on activities pertaining to adolescent & youth-friendly services and the programme’s performance.
    • Use relevant M&E tools to report daily, weekly and monthly to the Anova team lead on the number of clients initiated on ART/PrEP
    • Participate in clinic SIMS visits and any other visits as requested (And prepare AYFS related data/information for the visit)
    • Participate in Anova CME sessions & staff meetings as required

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • A Degree or Diploma in Nursing with valid SANC registration
    • Valid registration with the South African Nursing Council
    • Two years experience in clinical HIV/AIDS and TB-related work
    • 2 years’ experience in a primary health care setting
    • Certificate in NIMART or basic HIV Management with at least 2 years’ experience managing patients with HIV and TB
    • Knowledge of current guidelines and experience in HIV/PMTCT/TB programmes
    • Basic TB/HIV/STI management certificate and counselling skills (an advantage)
    • Reproductive health management certificate (an advantage) See the one with PHC.
    • Dispensing licence (an advantage)

    AYP Clinical Mentor

We seek a Clinical Mentor who will be roving and serve to provide mentorship and strengthening clinical health services as part of a comprehensive package of adolescent & youth-friendly services.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support programme activities in line with Anova APACE, SA DoH NSP for HIV/TB/STI (2017 – 2022) and 90-90-90 HIV/TB strategy and Donor requirements
    • Support the implementation of ANOVA’s Adolescent & Youth programme activities at the facility level, in line with APACE strategy & workplan.
    • Form part of ANOVA sub-district teams and actively participate in activities that support the 959595 & overall ANOVA APACE strategy.
    • Routinely monitor performance (data) & registers of adolescents & youth services at facility level (especially indicators pertaining to HTS, PrEP, ART, STI management and sexual & reproductive health and rights (SRHR); and provide mentorship & technical support where required
    • Conduct clinic file audits (adolescent & youth) for each supported facility and implement corrective measures together with the health care practitioners involved, where needed
    • Work with Anova sub-district team, APACE and PASP CNP’s and QI teamsteam to use data to identify poor performing facilities, put together and implement QI plans pertaining to adolescent & youth prevention programme as agreed upon with the team & facilities
    • Ensure facilities have the latest adolescent & youth health policies and guidelines
    • Advocate for off-site training and/or arrange for in-service training where needed
    • Attend TOT on adolescent and youth services related guidelines on behalf of Anova APACE programme
    • Support clinics to start implementing PrEP and other adolescent & youth health services through strengthening of AYFS and implementation of youth zones
    • Identify training needs at facility level through a skills audit and routine monitoring of training gaps of staff
    • Coordinate and support training & mentorship of health care providers using NDOH Guidelines on Adolescent and Youth Friendly Services (AYFS)
    • Provide training to relevant staff (Internal & external staff) on prevention programmes related to Adolescents and youth(PrEP, ART SRHR, STI’s, Adherence support, Decanting, Indexing AYFS etc.)
    • Training and mentoring of health care workers is scaled-up on sub-dermal implants and IUDs as well as an expanded contraceptive mix, emphasizing dual protection
    • Mentor & coach the NIMART DsD nurses and Anova Apace teams on key issues related to to Adolescents and youth(PrEP, ART SRHR, STI’s, Adherence support, Decanting, Indexing AYFS etc.)
    • Maintain a training database and administration records aspects of any trainings, mentoring and coaching session done.
    • Perform baseline assessments prior to implementation of PrEP and AYFS as required for the purposes of quality improvement that is aligned with the adolescent youth programme and NDoH’s relevant strategies (Ideal Clinic, AYFS, 959595) at supportedfacilities and implement corrective measures
    • Ensure the AYFS and the establishment of youth zones is prioritised e.g. flexi/happy hour/youth clinic days etc.
    • Identify areas of improvement from ideal clinic & other quality assessments (SIMS, Phuthuma, AYFS etc) & implement corrective measures where possible
    • Support DOH/Anova counsellors and clinicians to conduct case-finding at adult, adolescent and youth sites to identify adolescents living with HIV and in need of being linked to care.
    • Facilitate implementation of Adolescent & Youth Friendly services & Youth Care Clubs in supported facilities
    • Linking with relevant out of facility stakeholders (E.g. OVC and youth partners) to promote access to AYFS at facility level
    • Support facilities to ensure that comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health Services are provided for AGYW (e.g. HTS and Condom provision to also be provided as part of SRH)
    • Support facilities to develop referral pathways from SRHR health services to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support
    • Training of HCWs on contraceptives guidelines
    • Support demand generation activities such as activation days at TVETs, CBO’s and other hot spots in order to promote availability and access to adolescent & youth friendly services
    • Support with awareness campaigns as required (e.g. TB Imbizo, Wellness days, Adolescent dialogues, programme launches, etc.)
    • Submit monthly, quarterly & ad-hoc reports to line manager
    • Monitor progress against performance monthly
    • Participate in cluster meetings and other meetings as required
    • Perform activities as advised by the line manager
    • Report programme findings to internal and external stakeholders in aid of programme advocacy
    • Report on good or best practices for the programme

     Qualifications and Experience

    • Valid registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council
    • Clinical Assessment Treatment & Care (PHC Nurse Clinician is compulsory)
    • WC NIMART trained and mentored
    • 2 to 5 years of Experience working as a professional nurse, including work in HIV/AIDS/TB with a special focus on adolescents and youth-specific care at the Primary Health Care level
    • Trained on Paediatric management of ART
    • Experience in implementing and support youth programmes, particularly around the promotion of sexual reproductive health and rights and AYFS

    Project Lead: Paediatric & Adolescent Care

    To oversee implementation of Anova’s direct and technical support activities and initiatives for case-finding, linkage to care and retention for children and adolescents living with HIV in Johannesburg. To engage and report back to Anova, DoH and funders.
     

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Project Management

    • Supporting the team of TAs and M&E to oversee and implement paediatric and adolescent activities in the District.
    • Responsible for and oversee implementation of activities as per the workplan.
    • Cascade National/district level plans and agreements to sub-district and facility level.
    • Implementation level supervision, monitoring, and reporting.
    • Ensure optimal utilization of available resources to meet key objectives.
    • Support the development and implementation of the District and sub-district paediatric and adolescent implementation plans.

    Team Management

    • Provide support and mentoring to team members.
    • Ensure effective communication with the HR department and with project staff and other programmes.
    • Help to identify training needs and opportunities for programme staff and motivate for them to attend.
    • Directly manage a diverse team of staff in conjunction with other line managers in order to ensure efficient project delivery and that HR policies are adhered to.

    Technical Support

    • Oversee scale-up of core paediatric and adolescent activities and implement new activities/innovations by paediatric and other teams.
    • Support team to institute initiatives to maximize bi-directional referrals to link children and adolescents living with HIV to community support.
    • Capacitate Anova team on relevant Paediatric and adolescent project aspects.

    Stakeholder engagement

    • Strengthen engagement at district and sub-district, both with Anova teams and DoH, either directly or through other team members
    • Lead District and partner engagements in JHB for paediatric and adolescent HIV care, support engagements with other partner organizations
    • Maintain relationships with funders, oversee presentation compilation and present in funder meetings/feedback sessions.
    • Support processes with relevant managers of the Department of Health to ensure maximum buy-in and partnership at district level and facilitate engagements at sub-district level.
    • Support integration and build relationships amongst other Anova teams.
    • Represent Anova at meetings, workshops, and conferences.

    Reporting and Other Activities

    • Oversee day-to-day project monitoring, including data collection, analysis, and consolidation for reporting to monitor project progress and deliverables, for Anova, DoH and funders.
    • Support development of workplans and reporting tools/process flows
    • Prepare reports for internal and external reporting.

    Essential Qualifications and Experience

    • Clinician/public health candidate with at least 3 years’ experience in the field of paediatrics/adolescents
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the field of HIV and TB
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in public health programmes
    • Project management skills
    • knowledge of monitoring and evaluation systems
    • Good relationship management skills: knowledge of local stakeholders is advantageous.

    Clinical Technical Advisor: Paediatric And Adolescent Care

    To provide technical assistance, capacity-building and health system strengthening support that will initiate or enhance the roll-out of various services within the Anova Paediatric & Adolescent Care Programme. The Clinical Technical Advisor will be a member of a roving technical support team and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide site support for the implementation, improvement and expansion of paediatric and adolescent services for HIV/TB.
     

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Technical Support and Capacity Building

    • Conduct clinic file audits (paediatric and adolescent HIV/TB) for each supported facility and implement corrective measures where needed (Using file audit tool)
    • Work with Anova and DoH teams to use data to identify poor performing facilities, put together QI plans and implement QI plans as agreed upon with the team & facilities.
    • Working with roving teams, identify facility training needs and conduct off-site training where needed & arrange in-service training where needed (for DoH and Anova teams)

    Direct Service Delivery & Clinical Mentoring

    • Provide capacity building at facility level on clinical care for children & adolescents with HIV; this includes but not limited to: history taking & staging, phlebotomy, ART initiation and follow up consultation, differentiated care.
    • Mentor professional (& Enrolled nurses where required) nurses at DoH facilities on NIMART, using latest paediatric and adolescent HIV/TB/STI guidelines and in line with DoH mentorship manual/guidelines.
    • Conduct direct support for paeds/adol care where needed, while still ensuring skills transfer

    Health Systems strengthening

    • Work with Anova roving technical team to identify gaps within the health system and implement corrective measures where necessary, with a focus on implementation of Paediatric/Adolescents Matrix of Interventions, correct implementation of clinical guidelines/regimen optimization and differentiated modalities of care for children and adolescents.
    • Establish/maintain and facilitate Child, Adolescent and Family Care Days supported facilities through engagement with facility manager and implementation of booking system through use of the booking book, etc.; capacitate DoH staff to run these routinely.

    Stakeholder engagement and reporting

    • Form part of Anova cluster team and contribute in these meetings and activities as required.
    • Provide monthly facility/mentee progress report to line manager.
    • Compile ad hoc, monthly, quarterly report to line manager, funders and different levels of DOH as required.
    • Contribute to District work plan development and implementation.

     

    Essential Qualifications and Experience

    • Registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council
    • Clinical Assessment Treatment & Care (PHC Nurse Clinician) an advantage
    • NIMART trained and mentored/certified
    • 2 to 5 years’ Experience in working as a professional nurse including work in TB/ HIV/AIDS environment
    • Trained on Paediatric management of ART
    • Experience in managing children on ART
    • Experience in training an advantage
    • Experience in engaging with children and caregivers around Disclosure in children
    • At least 1 year working in Paediatric or Adolescent care at Primary Health Care level

    Technical Knowledge and Skills

    • Knowledge of Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART), TB and Chronic Medication in children and adolescents

    • Ability to analyse and interpret HIV/TB programme data to inform programme planning and implementation

    Project Coordinator: Men's Health

The Project Coordinator will lead and coordinate a Health4men team, administrative and related staff and will work closely with the clinic nurse practitioner, the national M&E officer and the technical advisor: Men’s Health.
     

    • Define together with the Technical Advisor: Men’s health the Men’s health project scope, objectives and deliverables in accordance with the broader Health4Men work plan;
    • Schedule tasks, deadlines and milestones for all trainers and community outreach team;
    • Identify the necessary resources for Apace Health4men COJ (i.e. staff, consultants, budgets, stakeholders and others);
    • Define success indicators in order to measure impact;
    • Provide input on the project at strategic planning sessions
    • Coordinate and manage the implementation of the project and all relevant project staff;
    • Coordinate all activities related to the development of additional sites, across the identified districts (including the deployment of staff and organisational resources;
    • Ensure on-going functional liaison with relevant DoH managers on a district and facility level
    • Proactively identify potential challenges to efficient project implementation and undertake appropriate remedial interventions.
    • Coordinate and manage the implementation of the project and all relevant project staff;
    • Coordinate all activities related to the development of additional sites, across the identified districts (including the deployment of staff and organisational resources;
    • Ensure on-going functional liaison with relevant DoH managers on a district and facility level

    • Ensure efficient data management and collection, in collaboration with the M&E officer; including performance monitoring and reporting
    • On-going liaison with the Technical Advisor and relevant project consultants;

    • Manage and mitigate risks to project implementation
    • Compile and submit monthly and quarterly and reports to Technical Advisor: Men’s health.

    • Coordinate the compilation of periodic reports as required for the purposes:
    • Reporting to Technical Advisor : Men’s Health;
    • Stakeholders Reporting and Engagement
    • Other communications and logistical support as required.
    • Train staff on Men related topics, issues, models and methodologies;
    • Provide leadership for the project in conjunction with the Technical Advisor (Health4Men);
    • Ensure recruitment and selection of staff in conjunction with the Technical Advisor (Health4Men) including helping with HR project administration when required
    • Develop, coach and mentor staff

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A degree in nursing or any other health related field
    • At least 5 years’ experience in project or operations management
    • At least 5 year experience in psycho-social support for Men.
    • Experience in HIV or MSM will be advantageous
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
