    Head: Complementary Solutions

    Role Purpose    

    • Design, develop, monitor and improve the complementary solutions that form part of our  Client Value Proposition in line with client needs.

    Requirements    

    • At least 8 years' experience in a fast-paced product development environment in one or more of the following industries: Healthcare, Short term insurance, Microinsurance, Loyalty and rewards. 
    • Degree/Honours in Actuarial Science or Honours degree in commerce.
    • Associate or Fellow or Actuarial Society of South Africa or Masters in Business Administration prefered.
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g, limitations imposed on schemes and administrators).
    • Knowledge of marketing principles and design thinking.
    • Budgeting, monitoring and reporting experience within an end to end business.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to research and analyse the needs of clients and businesses. Based on clients financial needs manage the development of products and solutions across all markets and segments.
    • Manage the product development lifecycle including product integration benefits, partner benefits, tiering structures and active rating factors.
    • Manage competitor research and analysis to identify opportunities and trends in the market to develop new products or streamline existing product offerings.
    • Oversee the design of pricing models and business cases for products and solutions.
    • Conduct business viability studies to finalise the product or solution designs.
    • Engage with key stakeholders to present technical aspects, features, benefits and business case of products and solutions.
    • Drive the approval and signoff of product and solutions through the appropriate approval processes.
    • Collaborate with the systems development team to successfully translate the product features into the applicable system that supports and automates the product.
    • Establish processes and systems to measure the impact of products and solutions and implement corrective action where necessary.
    • Contribute to the marketing processes of the product to ensure the messaging and packing of the product is in line with the business case.
    • Oversee the financial modelling and assess the financial impact of solutions to identify areas of opportunity.
    • Ensure applicable maintenance and testing of financial model including projection of income and expenses and key assumptions.
    • Incorporate insights into financial models and assumptions. Conduct investigations that test the client experience and impact of the product on the client lifetime value.
    • Measure and reports on the profitability and impact of products and solutions.
    • Drive the implementation of product enhancements based on client experience and profitability of products.

    Reinsurance Accountant - Sandton

    Role Purpose    

    • Responsible for the management of the reinsurance accounting function for Guardrisk non-life cell captive.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Balance sheet reconciliation implementation and management of all non-life clients reinsurance
    • Accounting for month end transactions for proportional reinsurance (cash calls and ad-hock)
    • Engaging with the general finance team on movements in the reinsurance financials
    • Engaging with the portfolio managers on movements in the reinsurance financials
    • Reporting internal and external on financial accounting for reinsurance
    • Management of the reinsurance accounting function for Guardrisk non-life cell captive
    • Preparation, reconciliation, and communication of proportional reinsurance accounts to the reinsurance market, clients and internally
    • Comprehensive reinsurance claims management for proportional reinsurance

    Claims Manager Marine - Sandton, Cape Town or Durban

    Role Purpose    

    • Responsible for the management of the Marine claims team.

    Requirements    

    • Matric /Grade 12
    • Formal Tertiary Qualification
    • RE1
    • Legal qualification, majoring in Maritime Law would be advantageous
    • Computer Literacy (MS Word, Outlook and Excel)
    • At least 3-5 years supervisory experience
    • At least 5 years insurance claims processing and assessing experience
    • In-depth knowledge of marine insurance, Incoterms, good geographical knowledge, shipping experience (preferred but not essential), knowledge of the MIA (Marine Insurance Act), various Conventions and Rules

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Managing the Claims Team in a manner which achieves optimal productivity and compliance with SLA’s. This will form a component on how claims staff are measured in terms of deliverables and productivity
    • Managing of daily work flows by monitoring work in claims staff queues, such claims authorisation and sign off
    • Responsible for handling and project managing major claims
    • Identifying claims trends and alerting underwriters where loss ratios are deteriorating
    • Monitoring that our claims service is maintained when liaising with clients, brokers, companies and others
    • Performance excellence management of the team including setting objectives and key deliverables
    • Ensuring that the relevant internal claims protocols and procedures are followed by the claims capturing team including ensuring that SOP’s are complied with
    • Identifying training and development needs within the team
    • Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures of the company
    • Ensuring that the objectives of TCF are consistently achieved within the team, that the achievement of such objectives can be evidenced and that such evidence is recorded and updated in the Marine TCF spreadsheet on an ongoing basis
    • Assessment of contracts (such as STC’s, bespoke contracts and the like but limited thereto)
    • Opinion on contracts and policy response on claims
    • Identifying Recovery opportunities and ensuring that they are pursued
    • Oversight of repudiation letters but not sign off unless authorized specifically by marine executive
    • Monthly Management of claims meetings
    • Monthly Analysis and reporting of claims data to identify trends, fraud and possible problem areas

    Senior Underwriting Manager - Financial Lines

    Role Purpose    

    • To maintain and grow an existing portfolio of clients through relationship management and product development. Management of Risk by following agreed sound underwriting principles and managing the financial lines underwriting team and setting team strategy and goals. 

    Requirements    

    • Bachelor degree and/or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification in general insurance
    • FAIS compliant
    • RE5 Short Term
    • At least 5 – 8 years’ experience in financial lines underwriting
    • At least 2 – 3 years’ experience leading a team of specialist underwriters and / or portfolio managers
    • Expert knowledge of financial lines insurance

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Retention and growth of the Financial Lines portfolio
    • Development, introduction and implementation of new Financial Lines products
    • Monitors risk selection and pricing decisions for portfolio/s both on a book of business and at an individual account level
    • Implementing Financial Lines Underwriting standards to ensure profitability
    • Performs analysis of complex accounts by combining past experience, intuition and commercial / business acumen to fully understand the risk to enable strategic portfolio decisions to be made
    • Monitors market conditions, competitive landscape and researches risk, environment and factors necessary to grow new business of identified accounts
    • Ensuring compliance with Reinsurance Treaty
    • Placement of all Financial Lines Facultative Reinsurance where required
