    Senior Sales Engineer

    Job Summary

    As a Sales Engineer, you will play a pivotal role alongside our Account Executive Team, spearheading Equinix's success and driving the company's growth. In this influential position, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, providing guidance to customers, partners, and colleagues alike.

    Responsibilities

    Technical Consulting and Sales Support

    • Identify and assess customers' business needs, challenges, and technical requirements, aligning them with appropriate Equinix solutions
    • Leverage in-depth knowledge of Equinix products and services to effectively present and promote Equinix solutions
    • Analyze and evaluate moderate scope problems and situations using sound judgment and data-driven insights

    • Fluent in English is a must
    • Good experience of Solutions Selling in a commercial pre-sales position preferred

    Senior Commercial Manager

    Job Summary

    • This position reports directly to the EMEA South Retail Commercial Management Director, Global Design & Construction
    • The primary focus of the role is commercial management oversight across Equinix’s portfolio major expansion construction projects throughout EMEA. Specifically, this role covers the Africa Capex Expansion projects
    • The position works closely with other internal project teams. Including Design, Construction, Procurement (including Major Capital Equipment (MCE) Purchasing), Finance, PMO, Finance, Legal and Corporate Development
    • The role is expected to provide proactive strategic and day-to-day leadership specifically focused to drive down construction costs, provide assurance against internal financial controls and reporting processes and help manage all major contract risks

    Responsibilities

    Pre-Contract

    • Procurement of third-party consultants including Design, Commercial and Pre-Construction Services
    • Development of detailed Request for Proposals (RFP) and service deliverables for the commercial management services
    • Day to day management of third-party commercial consultants to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner and to a high standard
    • Development of General Contractor and supplier procurement strategies in conjunction with the Construction Management (CM) team
    • Working with Legal and Procurement Centre of Excellence (COE) to prepare General Contractor Contracts including negotiation of Contract terms
    • Collation and presentation of market insights for the construction industry in the relevant country including market activity, comparative builds, construction cost indices, key suppliers and benchmarking information
    • Preparation of budgets for all design stages including feasibility estimation, detailed cost modelling, benchmarking analysis and presentation of this to senior management throughout funding approval stages
    • Ensure that all cost data is prepared and presented in the Equinix WBS
    • Input and action of Value Engineering (VE) exercises at all stages of design. The output must be clear cost evaluation to support decision making
    • Prepare annual and quarterly cashflow forecasts for active and pipeline projects
    • Prepare and oversee monthly reports for budget, cashflow, risk and change management

    Post Contract

    • Day to day management of third-party commercial consultants to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner and to a high standard
    • Monitor adherence against budget throughout the project lifespan including cost checks and reviews, value engineering and cost saving initiatives and evaluation of alternates
    • Oversee and provide guidance on commercial change management and change evaluation efforts on all projects
    • Monitor and report monthly and quarterly on project portfolio cash flow for the region
    • Provide Construction in Place (CIP) data to Finance
    • Pro-actively lead all commercial risk management efforts including commercial audits, contingency analyses, risk identification and analyses and management training
    • Prepare and oversee monthly cost reports for budget, cashflow, risk and change management
    • Monitor the financial close-out on all projects including settlement of all vendors
    • Prepare lessons learned cost analysis and detailed Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) analysis of outturn costs

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in construction, business, financial or related field
    • Proven experience in a related function for projects in Africa
    • Preferably Data Center / strong MEP experience
    • Preferably RICS accreditation
    • Must be detail orientated, with accurate input and proof-reading skills
    • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
    • Must have strong business acumen
    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Must have strong sense of accountability, ownership and urgency
    • Must have strong computer skills, particularly with Excel

    Operations Compliance Analyst

    Job Summary

    The Compliance Analyst (Intermediate level) develops professional expertise while resolving an intermediate level variety of issues within a moderate scope. Receives general instructions on routine work, and detailed instruction on new assignments.

    Responsibilities

    Audits & Certifications

    • Provides developed site level logistical support for compliance audits (internal and external), within a moderate scope
    • Extracts list of open findings for site(s) in scope
    • Maintains and distributes certification assets to stakeholders internal and external to Equinix, within a moderate scope
    • Collects and coordinates developed audit evidence assets

    • Supports application of designated permits, compliance to existing permits, plans (e.g. Air, Spill Prevention, Chemical Reporting, etc.) within a moderate scope

    Critical Facilities Engineer

    Job Summary

    • Has a substantial understanding of the job while working on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgement in resolving issues or making recommendations. Focus is on moderately difficult tasks, using substantial understanding of standard operating procedure. Supports the overall team.

    Responsibilities

    Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance

    • Performs moderately difficult preventative and corrective maintenance checks on-site to facility components
    • Performs moderately difficult repairs, maintenance, installations and on-site inspections to facility systems. Supports energy efficiency measures
    • Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves moderately difficult alarm issues issues that require judgement in resolving while following standard operating procedures
    • Operates and maintains plumbing, fire suppression, and safety systems
    • Operates critical infrastructures under the supervision of more senior technical staff
    • Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments

    Vendor Support

    • Supports the work approval process for service providers on moderately difficult maintenance work, for tracking: briefing at the start of work, work during the day workday/shift and final review of the work carried out. Ensures vendor maintenance activities are carried out as per Equinix's standard operating procedures
    • In cooperation with vendors, supports modifications to technical files for plants and equipment ensuring files and builds are up-to-date

    Site Administration & Incident Support

    • Performs moderately difficult site logs for permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts
    • Identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and makes recommendations
