    Software Developer (Asset Management) - (IT-L4.4)

    • We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Developer with an interest in the development database-driven software used in infrastructure asset management including a Road Asset Management System (RAMS), Traffic Information System (TIS) and Maintenance Management System (MMS).
    • The ideal candidate will work with our asset management consulting team to develop and maintain software systems, all related to infrastructure asset management, including end-user support and training. 

    Role Responsibilities

    • Asset management: Support clients with implementing information systems that enhance our client’s asset management processes.
    • Systems development: Design, develop, and implement systems and software solutions to support asset management processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients to identify user requirements, and conduct business analysis for software development purposes. Ensure the integration of new systems with existing infrastructure and processes. Generate detailed reports and dashboards to provide insights into asset performance and inform decision-making.

    Software development:

    • Software development in C# and .NET web development for web sites.
    • SQL/Server
    • HTML
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
    • Graphic design of web pages
    • Project management: Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met and deliverables are achieved.
    • Travel: Remote and on-site software user support on software Zutari has implemented. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel and to spend time away from the office, in South Africa and Africa, for time periods of a few days to weeks. The candidate must be suitably experienced and self-sufficient to travel to remote areas of SA and Africa on their own.
    • Client engagement: Providing systems training courses and implementing change management programs with Zutari’s clients.
    • Reporting writing: Authoring of manuals, project documentation, and manual style reports.

    Minimum Requirements

    • B.Sc Computer Science, Information Technology or related B-degree.
    • Valid SA driver’s license and with own reliable vehicle
    • At least 2 years’ experience in C# and .NET web development for web sites
    • At least 1 year experience in SQL/Server
    • Problem solving, confident in communicating with clients, and technical report writing skills
    • Previous asset management experience would be advantageous
    • Knowledge of ERP systems would be advantageous

    Asset Management Consultant - (ENG-L4.128)

    • Zutari is seeking a skilled and motivated Infrastructure Asset Management Consultant with a background in Industrial Engineering. The successful candidate will work with our consulting team in developing planning, analytical and software solutions for clients who are grappling with the challenges of ageing infrastructure.
    • The Consultant will work with the team in driving institutional improvement and business process improvements with our clients, conducting business analysis to determine client asset management software functionality needs, implementing risk-based analytical frameworks to determine long-term rehabilitation and renewal investment needs for ageing infrastructure, preparing asset management plans, planning and managing infrastructure field assessments, and supporting the development and deployment of tactical dashboards that assist our clients with managing their ageing infrastructure

    Role Responsibilities

    • Asset management consulting: Support clients with developing and implementing best practice asset management planning, analytical processes and software that enhances our client’s asset management capability.
    • Data analytics: Work with large asset data to conduct infrastructure lifecycle analysis, predictive modelling, and investment optimisation.
    • Report writing: Prepare asset management plans, document analytical frameworks, outcomes reports, manuals, and project documentation.
    • Presentations: Help prepare client presentations and participate in client workshops and interactions.
    • Systems solutions: Conduct business analysis with our clients to determine user needs, document needs and scope functional solutions. Provide technical guidance to our software development teams to develop client solutions, integrations between systems and dashboards.
    • Project management: Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met and deliverables are achieved.
    • Client engagement: Client consulting, presentations, training and support with change management at Zutari’s clients. 
    • Travel: The successful candidate should be willing and able to travel and to spend time away from the office, in South Africa and Greater Africa, for time periods of a few days to weeks. The successful incumbent should be self-sufficient to travel to remote areas of SA and Greater Africa independently.

    Minimum Requirements

    • BEng in Industrial Engineering
    • Evidence of progress towards ECSA professional registration would be advantageous
    • Minimum of 2 years overall experience.
    • Knowledge of databases such as GIS, Access and SQL/Server will be advantageous
    • Problem solving, communication, and technical report writing skills
    • Previous asset management experience would be advantageous

    Senior Mechanical Engineer - (ENG-L7.121)

    Role responsibilities

    • Mechanical engineer with extensive package experience, as well as being well versed with rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, engines, etc.) and piping, static (PER) equipment.
    • Participate in EPCM/EPC execution projects, studies (from concept to detail) and tenders, and ensuring work standards are met.
    • Responsible for the hands-on engineering and approval of rotating equipment and packaged units on assigned projects.
    • Responsible for preparation and approval of project related standards and job notes.
    • Ensure that engineering activities on assigned projects are executed within budgeted manhours and approved schedules in compliance with project procedures, standards and specifications and in accordance with company procedures and the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of South Africa.
    • Review and approve project schedules with the Project Engineer and/or the Project Planner to see that all dates, rates of progress and design periods are realistic.
    • Review and approve flowsheets for correctness of depicting of rotating equipment and packaged units, operating and design conditions and piping and instrumentation connections.
    • Develop equipment specifications to meet the client’s standards, international and South African standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare technical bid analysis and evaluation reports for rotating equipment and packaged units.
    • Review and approve supplier documents for rotating equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units and distribute.
    • Responsible for overall technical management/co-ordination on supplier orders for rotating equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units. This includes technical management/co-ordination with other engineering disciplines.
    • Give guidance to client, project engineers, other specialist engineers and inspectors on rotating equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units engineering matters. Coordinate review of all other engineering aspects of package unit supplier’s drawings.
    • Perform inspection and witness performance testing where required.
    • Provide progress report information, at the required frequency and with the required content, to the Project Engineer/ Project Manager throughout the project execution.
    • Assist where necessary, in the construction, handover and commissioning of rotating equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units.
    • Preparation, coordination and reviewing of key mechanical deliverables, including mechanical packages, datasheets, specifications, bills of quantity, mechanical design basis reports, costing and trade off analysis, equipment lists, etc.
    • Coordination and reviewing of digital / drawing-based deliverables, including 3D models, piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, etc.
    • Experience with key mechanical software, such as hydraulic analysis packages (e.g. PipeFlo, Bentley Hammer) is an advantage
    • Developing and critiquing existing designs and vendor systems. Gap analysis of pre-existing project information.
    • Client and stakeholder interaction. Communication and presentation skills. Presenting of technical methodologies and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.   

    Minimum requirements

    • BEng, BSc, MEng, or MSc in Mechanical Engineering and 10 to 15 years’ experience with a minimum of 5 years in the petrochemical industry.
    • Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA.
    • Familiar with commonly used mechanical engineering standards and codes including but not limited to API, NFPA, ASME, GPS as well as commonly used mechanical engineering software.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word).
    • Working knowledge of mechanical software packages is expected – e.g. Ceasar, CAD, 3D & 4D modelling, FEA, Compress, Codecalc, PV Elite, OptiVessel, NozzlePro, PRCI, Mathcad, Solid Edge
    • Working knowledge of process software would be a positive - Aspen Plus, Aspen Hysys, Pro II and other Simulation Software (Flownex).
    • Prior experience in the petrochemical industry, with some additional experience in gas (LNG/CNG/LPG), fire systems, manufacturing & resources would be a bonus.
    • Experience distinguishing advantages and/or vulnerabilities among licensors’ competitive technologies in the petrochemical sectors.
    • Knowledge of mechanical engineering guidelines and standards.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes.

    Associate Structural Engineer - (ENG-L8.76)

    Role responsibilities

    • Key client portfolio leadership: Own and lead structural (and integrated multi-disciplinary) delivery across all projects for an assigned key client, ensuring consistent technical quality, delivery performance, and alignment to the client’s standards and ways of working.
    • Technical strategy & direction: Set the technical vision for the client portfolio or team (design philosophy, preferred systems, standard details, risk posture, constructability approach), ensuring safe, buildable and efficient solutions across concept, tender, detailed design and construction support.
    • Portfolio governance & delivery oversight: Establish and run portfolio-level governance (programme, deliverables, resourcing, risk management, and reporting) to ensure predictable delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
    • Lead and manage teams: Build, lead and performance-manage the client-dedicated team creating a strong quality culture and effective ways of working.
    • Technical assurance (review/verify): Review, check and verify high-risk or high-value deliverables (calculations, models, drawings, specifications, design briefs, design risk notes) and ensure robust checking processes are implemented across the portfolio.
    • Complex structural leadership: Provide senior technical leadership on complex building structural systems (reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, structural steel; stability systems, transfer structures, upgrades/retrofits, operational/live environments, staging/sequence constraints).

    • Integrated coordination: Drive early alignment and manage interfaces across disciplines and stakeholders to resolve clashes, de-risk construction, and protect programme (including coordination with architects, MEP services, contractors and independent reviewers/certifiers).
    • Client relationship management: Act as the senior technical/client interface, building trusted relationships with client executives, technical authorities and delivery teams; manage expectations, decisions, and escalations.
    • Commercial leadership & account growth: identify opportunities, shape pursuits, and support/lead proposals and negotiations to grow client revenue, improve margins, and expand Zutari EX’s footprint globally.
    • Mentorship & capability uplift: Mentor engineers and technical leaders; develop capability in technical excellence, delivery discipline, quality checking, and innovation/automation.

    Minimum requirements

    • BSc or BEng in Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognised institution (postgraduate qualification advantageous).
    • Typically 10–15+ years relevant structural engineering experience within the built environment structures, including leadership roles across multiple projects.
    • Professional registration (e.g., ECSA Pr Eng or equivalent).
    • Proven experience leading the analysis and design of complex or large-scale projects (steel and concrete structures), from concept through detailed design and construction support.
    • Demonstrated experience in portfolio oversight and/or governance across multiple concurrent projects, including risk management, resourcing, and delivery assurance.
    • Strong working knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (South African, Australian/New Zealand, American and/or European), with the ability to work across different code environments where required.
    • Proficiency in common structural analysis and design software and a solid understanding of CAD/BIM workflows and model-based coordination.
    • Strong track record in technical review/verification, quality systems, and producing/overseeing high-quality documentation (calculations, reports, specifications, design risk notes).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and confidently to senior client stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated commercial capability (scope definition, fee/cost estimation, proposal contribution/leadership, and client growth orientation).

    Beneficial experience and competencies

    • Experience in complex finite element analysis and/or specialist assessments (e.g., complex modelling, advanced staging/sequence modelling, seismic analysis and design/detailing where required).
    • Exposure to dynamic/vibration assessments (modal/harmonic/time-history or vibration studies), particularly for mission-critical/industrial facilities.
    • Experience implementing portfolio-level QA/checking frameworks and technical governance across teams.
    • Experience with scripting/coding and automation to improve design workflows, coordination, and quality checking.
    • Experience leading delivery for mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centres), public venues/stadia, transport buildings, and/or major upgrades/retrofits in constrained or operational environments.
    • Strong bid leadership and account management experience (account planning, opportunity shaping, negotiation support).
