    Lecturer - Service Management (Independent Contractor) - Rosebank

    PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS JOB:

    To ensure efficient and effective management, administration and coordination of all aspects regarding the course/programme by aiming and working towards a high quality of service delivery throughout the duration of the course/programme, igniting a passion for the hospitality industry within eager young students helping them to grow individually and mature in their careers within the hospitality industry.

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    • Coordinating, Mentoring, and assisting Students with respect to theory and practical studies and cultivation of the individual creative spirit.
    • Managing Student counselling and student support/briefing and reporting on escalated student matters to Campus Head.

    Programme Manager - Johannesburg

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    Academic Leadership, Management & Campus Support

    • Academic Leadership, Management & Campus Support.
    • Overall leadership and management of the IIE HSM programme deliverey.
    • Manage the interface with the Academic Manager.
    • Plan resource allocation for the academic operations of all programmes within the school in collaboration with management and campus operations.   
    • Review academic results of all students within the programmes and implement an appropriate teaching and learning strategy for "At risk" students and "At risk" modules.
    • Manage academic counselling and support to students within the school in collaboration with campuses.
    • Report on the academic performance of the programmes.
    • Drive the implementation of relevant teaching and learning initiatives within the programmes in collaboration with the campus teams.
    • Support the development of new programmes for accreditation.
    • Support development of academic material and assessments on programmes within the school by acting as developer, module leader, moderator or head of programme for the Central Academic Team (CAT).
    • Performance management and development of academic staff.
    • Manage lecturer development in consultation with Teaching and Learning specialists within the school, sister brands and the central academic team.
    • Ensure relevant representation on forums, committees and task teams such as Programme Co-ordination Committee (PCC) calls, operations calls, faculty committees, senate, etc.

    Discipline Module Support.

    • Support the Teaching & Learning Specialist in the management of the peer review process and the internal moderation model.
    • Provide specialist support to the campus senior management team for all programmes.
    • Provide specialist support to the campus operations team responsible for the operation of all programmes.     
    • Lead the recruitment, selection, approval and appointment of academic team (lecturers and relevant support staff) of the relevant programmes within the campus in collaboration with relevant management and departments.
    • Provide support to the marketing and sales teams with specialised knowledge of the relevant programmes offered.
    • Manage the Development Task in collaboration with leadership and the central academic team.
    • Involvement in, and management of, support and systems / business applications administrative duties where required.
    • Supervision of students on Honours programmes (where applicable).
    • Manage the student tracking process.
    • Conduct Student consultations where required
    • Industry, Professional Management & Building Partnerships
    • Develop and maintain relationships with professional industry to support placement of students, bursaries and sponsorships and access to professional expertise.
    • Facilitation of and involvement in professional and scholarly activities e.g. Conference Papers and Higher Degree Studies.
    • Assist in organising and driving campus events to promote professional industry relationships.
    • Represent The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) and IIE HSM at professional institutions, on external partner faculty boards and other relevant committees.

    Lecturing

    • Lecture up to 50 hours OR 1 modules per semester (including supervision).
    • Research & Scholarship
    • The incumbent is required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus/team and is also required to contribute towards The IIE’s HSM achieving its annual research output targets.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Masters or equivalent in relevant field (hospitality management, higher education, business mangagement or service management) is prefferred, alternatively an Honours level

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

    • Minimum of 5 years Teaching and Learning experience (preferably in teaching environment). Must have an understanding of the current regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private colleges.

    Teaching And Learning Manager (Capsicum)

    PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS JOB:

    The overall purpose of the job is to initiate, lead, manage, facilitate and influence, within the formal structures of the business, all aspects of the programme delivery process and operational requirements linked thereto

    Provide leadership in achieving excellence in Teaching and Learning (T & L) through the programme planning and delivery via the following: quality assurance of T & L; Lecturer development based on The IIE's T & L strategy with specific focus on: active learning; reflective practice; marking & feedback for learning and promoting intellectual integrity with lecturer

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    Quality Assurance of Teaching & Learning:

    • Ensure compliance and quality assurance in all teaching and learning processes and initiatives
    • Management and development of teaching practice on campus:
    • Work to develop lecturer’s teaching skills and reflective practice through a process of continuous conversation that includes the teaching portfolio, peer reviews, SETs and continuous development plan
    • Implement training workshops for lecturer development (specifically lecturer’s reflective teaching practice and marketing practice) based on peer reviews, SETs and development plans

    Teaching & Learning culture on campus:

    • Collaborate with Programme Co-ordinator, Educational Technologists, and IIE Teaching & Learning teams and committees, in planning, brainstorming and problem solving on programme implementation, delivery and T&L matters

    Lecturing

    • Lecture 1 module per semester (not exceeding 60 hours in total)

    Qualification development and accreditation

    • The incumbent is required to conduct research and develop new qualifications within the scope of the IIE Accreditation and Programme Development Committee process and in line with the IIE HSM strategy through collaboration with the Operations Manager – Academic and Managing Director

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Minimum of 5 years Teaching and Learning experience (preferably in a higher education environment)
    • Must have experience in using technology to enhance learning and an understanding of the current regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private college
