    Psychosocial Counsellor

    Job Description

    • Anova is looking for a Psychosocial Counsellors to be responsible for the day-to-day provision of HIV Counselling and Testing services and other site activities such as: Hepatitis, TB and STI’s screening, conducting outreach, providing harm reduction services, documenting human rights violations, mobilising and referring potential clients for treatment and further care.

     

     Key duties and responsibilities.

    • Mobilise clients in the community for HIV Testing Services (HTS).
    • Provide counselling for STI's targeting selected key population groups.
    • Screen all clients for Hepatitis, TB and STI.
    • Administer questionnaire to clients.
    • Conduct health literacy education.
    • Ensure compliance of quality assurance procedures.
    • Support clients with linkage and adherence.
    • Report study activities.
    • Assist with data capturing of HTS activities as and when required.

      Minimum qualifications, experience and skills required.

    • Grade 12 Certificate.
    • Training in Basic HAST, HIV Counselling, Adherence Counselling.
    • Knowledge of DoH HTS guidelines & protocols.
    • Must be able to work independently and in a team.
    • Willing to travel to various communities as and when required.
    • Previously worked with key populations, especially PWUD Community.
    • Good Counselling skills.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Ability to use tablets for data collection.
    • Experience in administering research questionnaires.
    • Positive attitude and sensitive to working with people who inject drugs.
    • Good Report writing skills.
    • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills, including task and time management, ability to multi-task, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and work without supervision.

    Professional Nurse AYFS

    Job Description

    • Anova is an NGO that empowers people and changes lives. Good health and quality of life is what motivates us to provide healthcare solutions and support for those who need it most.
    • We are looking for a Professional Nurse: AYFS to focus on working and improving 95-95-95 among children and adolescents (0-24 years) services and prevention services in Mopani, prioritizing on adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) ages between 10 -24 year and working with other DREAMS partners. He/she will ensure that AGYW are provided with relevant care that meets their needs, through a holistic approach strategy, as part of a team of professionals working in Anova.


    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Adolescent and Youth Friendly Services (AYFS)

    • Identify, establish and maintain AYFS platforms at facilities (PHC and CHC)
    • Conduct AYFS assessments at PHC facilities
    • Ensure that facilities are adhering to 10 national AYFS standards
    • Establish bi-directional referral channels (community/facility/TVETs) referral channels to AYFS
    • Scale up youth friendly health services e.g. condom services, HTS including HIV self-screening and contraception mix, STI screening and treatment at facilities and TVETs
    • Linkage to Prevention and other services (post-violence care)
    • Ensure that eligible individuals mainly adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) are linked to prevention services and retained as needed at facilities and TVETs
    • Ensure that facilities are implementing GBV L.I.V.E.S model
    • Roll out DREAMS in all sub-districts supported by Anova
    • Ensure that DREAMS is being implemented in all and eligible Adolescent girls and young women are being enrolled
    • Train health care workers in facilities in DREAMS
    • Conduct DREAMS impact surveys
    • Implement Family care day models in facilities to ensure successful linkage to treatment, retention and adherence
    • Train health care workers in paediatric and adolescent ART management

    Strengthening Internal Role and Administration

    • Support all other Anova staff with planning, organizing and execution of adolescent and young people program (AYP) activities
    • Provide regular oral and/written program updates
    • Assist with monthly statistics collection
    • Attend all team meetings as per invite
    • Timely submission of weekly plans, request and reports
    • Monitor and evaluate DREAMS programming and progress per PEPFAR MER guidelines and COP

    Supervision, Monitoring and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Supervise and monitor adolescent enrolled nurses and youth connectors (peer educators and linkage officers) activities at sub-districts
    • Form and maintain partnerships with other implementing partners
    • Train and mentor health care workers, youth connectors (peer educators and linkage officers), operational managers, campus nurses and AYFS champions to deliver AYFS and collect data
    • Train clinicians and non-clinicians on AYFS, GBV, PrEP, YCC and other models as per neeed
    • Any other tasks as agreed with line manager


    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Professional Nurse with midwifery diploma/ degree and registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
    • Local youth between 20 to 30 years of age
    • NIMART trained, mentored and certified as competent
    • 2 to 3 years’ experience in HIV and TB management
    • Experience in supervising a team
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Good report writing skills
    • Proficiency in MS Office

    Social Auxiliary Worker (PAEDS)

    Job Description

    • Anova is an NGO that empowers people and changes lives. Good health and quality of life is what motivates us to provide healthcare solutions and support for those who need it most.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and managing, channelling clients to social workers, referring clients to resources and conveying information, offering psychosocial care and support services, conducting educational and prevention groups and carrying out home visits in paediatric, adolescents and young people living with HIV and their caregivers in City of Johannesburg district facilities

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    Child and Adolescent Disclosure in the context of HIV

    • Identify and offer disclosure counselling to Children and Adolescents living with HIV that still need disclosure.
    • Identify and provide disclosure support to parents/caregivers that need support to disclose to their children/adolescents.

    Support groups

    • Facilitate support groups in facilities with emphasis on children and adolescents living with HIV
    • Facilitate caregiver support groups to promote adherence for peads and adolescents.

    Facilitating referral of children and adolescents living with HIV to resource systems

    • Design, maintain and distribute referral resource list to facilities
    • Ensure feedback between facilities and organisations of referred cases.

    Adherence/Retention of children and adolescents

    • Provide one-on-one counselling sessions to caregivers and children and adolescents living with HIV.
    • Recruit 90% of unsuppressed and disenagaged peadiatrics and adolescents into Case Management and provide Monthly Adherence Counselling to peads and  adolescent in Case Management.

    Capacity building

    • Provide training and mentorship to facility and other staff on adherence and disclosure, support group facilitation, referral system and adherence.

    Team management

    • Support and oversee peer supporters in the project

    Minimum qualifications and experience:

    • Matric/Grade 12 certificate and Social Auxiliary Work certificate recognised by the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) and enrolled in Social Work degree.
    • Must have at least 2-5 years’ experience working with PLHIV (people living with HIV).
    • Training in KidzAlive, Integrated Access to Care and Treatment (I-ACT) and NAS (National Adherence Strategy) an advantage

    Skills, competencies, and attributes:

    • Must have experience working in HIV/AIDS programmes and supervision of staff.
    • Good presentation and excellent communication skills and good report writing skills
    • Strong interpersonal and team work skills.
    • Proficiency with MS Office, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.
