    Facilitator Safety

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

    1. Reporting to the Snr Safety Practitioner the incumbent in this position will  be responsible to facilitate the Occupational Safety & Health programme in the Dumbe  and Piet Retief Areas

    EDUCATION 

    MIN EDUCATION REQUIRED: 

    • Senior Certificate 

    TERTIARY: ESSENTIAL 

    •   Completed SAMTRAC; NEBOSH; NADSAM or similar formal Safety qualification.
    •   Current registration in a Safety programme with an accredited institution, with the goal of exiting with a NQF 5 or higher qualification, will be considered

    SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE 

    •    Minimum five years’ experience in forestry/agricultural operations
    •    Minimum two years’ experience of actively working in a safety facilitation role

    RESPONSIBILITIES / KPAS: 

    The main responsibilities would be to:

    •     Assist the Forest Operation Safety Practitioner with the successful implementation and facilitation of the Mondi Safety & Health Programme
    •     Maintain the NOSA 5-star safety system for Dumbe operations.
    •     Liaise with contract partners and monitor their safety and health compliance through engagement, inspections, and audits.
    •     Roll out Mondi Safety & Health campaigns.
    •     Coach and support Mondi and contractor HSE Reps
    •     Assist the Forest Operation Health Practitioner with the following duties:
    • Fitness assessments
    • Health & hygiene inspections
    •  Biohazardous waste management
    •  Peer educator training and coaching
    • Coaching and support for first aiders
    •        Emergency Response Drills
    •     Assist with emergency and administrative duties as requested.
    •     Assist with requirements of the railway Safety Regulator

    Electrical Engineer

    Job Purpose:

    • Reporting to the Head: Paper Machine, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for implementing an optimal asset management strategy to achieve a safe and reliable plant operation.

    Qualifications & Expertise:

    • BSc / BTech/ Diploma in Electrical Engineering
    • Government Certificate of Competency is advantageous

    Job Experience:

    • 5 years’ experience as an Electrical Technician or better in a heavy industry environment
    • 5 years’ experience in a supervisory position within the related field
    • Experience within the Pulp & Paper industry will be beneficial

    Civil Maintenance Manager

    Job Purpose:

    • Reporting to the BU Manager CMS, the incumbent of this position will be appointed as a 2.7(a) responsible person to ensure maintenance of the mill facilities, buildings, roads, load bearing steel structures, concrete installations and rail roads to support Mill operations.

    Qualifications & Expertise:

    • BSc Civil Engineering or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of building, road, rail and structural legislation including municipal by-laws
    • Experience within the Pulp & Paper industry and performing work in heavy industries will be beneficial.  
    • Code 08 Driver’s Licence
    • Recognition for prior learning will be considered/given

    Job Experience:

    • 5 to 10 years’ experience in a Heavy Industry.
    • Scoping and executing repairs with quality assurance to load-bearing structures, buildings, roads, rail roads and facilities.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Ensure adherence to legislation (National building regulations, OHS Act, Municipal bylaws etc)
    • Manage HSEC requirements for all service providers at Mondi: Civils
    • Review and update maintenance strategies including but not limited to electrical, civil and mechanical maintenance of the Mondi Richards Bay facilities, buildings, roads, structures, underground piping (sewer, potable water, GRP lines and stormwater water) and rail roads.
    • Develops roadmaps for the implementation of the maintenance strategy and monitor against this.
    • Ensure planned maintenance is executed safely and in compliance with applicable site rules and legislation in area of responsibility and supports Mill operations.
    • Monitor risks and ensure that the strategy and roadmaps are adjusted to account for any changes.
    • Ensure alignment with relevant customers and stakeholders.
    • Plans RFQ and tenders in conjunction with Procurement in accordance with maintenance strategy as and when the need arises, always ensuring lowest total cost of ownership solutions. 
    • Manages contracts and contractors against SLAs & scopes to ensure efficient and safe delivery.
    • Preparation of annual budgets to meet the maintenance strategy.
    • Budget control – Six Civil maintenance budgets (one for each BU) and redundant infrastructure removal budget per BU
    • Identify annually potential savings targets, prioritize opportunities, and defines timelines to achieve them.
    • Ensure lifecycle of assets managed and optimized.
    • Champion site improvements related to area of responsibility in the Mill.
    • Plans CAPEX plans in accordance with maintenance strategy and improvement projects.
    • Ensure effective people management.
    • Scoping of Civil work and method statements in various BU’s: Structural repairs, removal of redundant structures and equipment, road repairs, concrete work, earth work
    • Ensure Structural and Building surveys done annually by competent service provider (structural engineer) and corrective action in place for all defects.
    • Ensure all buildings have safe access for working at Heights Lifelines to be installed and maintained annually for compliance.
    • Ensure roof and gutter cleaning are done bi-annually.
    • Ensure perimeter fence is well maintained and reliable at all times.
    • Ensure all asbestos buildings are maintained and complies with the Asbestos regulations.

    Job Competencies/ Attributes/Skills:

    • Understanding of Engineering principles, standards and practices; maintenance philosophies (where applicable); legal compliance and manufacturing criteria
    • Sound understanding of contractor management, engineering procedures and standards, and legal compliance
    • Computer literacy including SAP is essential.

    Supervisor Stores

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

    • Reporting to the Stores Manager, the successful incumbent is to supervise the work in Stores, ensuring quality standards are maintained and complies with environmental and safety regulations at the Richards Bay Mill. 

    SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:

    • 3 - 6 years exposure in a stores environment
    • 5 years supervisory experience will be an added advantage
    • Forklift, Turret, Reach and Side loader truck licences
    • Recognition for prior learning will be considered/given

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERTISE:

    • Grade 12 with Maths
    • Studies in Inventory/Stores Management or completed higher certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management   
    • In depth knowledge of SAP Materials Management
    • Work Order Management is advantageous.
    • Trade tested Fitter & Turner / Fitter/ Millwright / Electrician is advantageous.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage the dayshift & shift teams on stores KPI’s.

    Systems and Compliance Manager

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

    • Reporting to the Head of Central Maintenance, the successful incumbent will be responsible for managing the maintenance and development of Maintenance / Engineering-related IT systems (in support of Central Maintenance Services, CMMS PM Master Data and Engineering departments). The management and reporting of business compliance to national regulations and acts, and support Technical Risk with Mondi Operational Risk Evaluation, Mill Equipment Risk and Loss Prevention requirements.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERTISE:

    • Degree – Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent
    • Strong knowledge of Technical Risk Management
    • Good knowledge of SAP as a CMMS.
    • Good knowledge on IT systems & platforms, specifically those related to maintenance and asset management.
    • Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) would be advantageous

    SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:

    • SAP – PM module
    • Technical Change Management
    • PC literacy – MS Office, MS Teams, and Project management
    • Sound Knowledge of the OSHACT and Regulations
    • At Least 4 years maintenance experience in heavy industry

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • All functions as per key performance areas – as follows:
    • Develop and manage the strategy for maintenance systems for the mill, supporting Engineering, CMS & Reliability departments.
    • Maintains the CMMS PM Master Data to mill standard.
    • Development of standard engineering and maintenance reports as per the requirements of the departments concerned.
    • Development and maintenance of Engineering & maintenance KPI system, including the corresponding KPI reporting.
    • Acts as the interface between IT and the mill engineering / maintenance departments in terms of development of associated systems and platforms.
    • Responsible for the implementation of best practice and latest technology for maintenance systems (for example, AI, Industry 4.0 elements, etc.).
    • Support Engineering and maintenance departments with platforms for effective process management.
    • Support reliability engineering and condition-based monitoring departments on platforms for data management and analysis.
    • Management of statutory reporting systems.
    • Management of statutory documentation and the validity thereof.
    • Can interpret statutory inspection documentation and make good judgement as to the integrity and quality thereof.
    • MERL:
    • Audit the items on each business units’ risk list.
    • Escalate non-compliances to management for further actioning.
    • MORES:
    • Facilitate the capturing of CF/CS/THE in the MORES system in conjunction with business stakeholders.
    • Audit the data in the MORES system and ensure that data is accurate and workflows correctly; correct data that has been incorrectly captured and coach users accordingly.
    • Loss Prevention:
    • Facilitate site inspections with Mondi’s appointed risk engineers.
    • Develop the technical solutions and plan their execution.
    • Report on the loss prevention action progress
