    Senior Specialist Solution Architect

    Role Purpose

    The Senior Specialist- Solution Architect role is based in the Vodacom Business.

     

    To interact with customers to gather technical requirements, architect customer IT Infrastructure and compile solution proposal documentation in the Cloud and Hosting Services space as part of the Sales process.
     

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Perform role of interface between customer, commercial and technical entities by translating between business requirements and technical specifications.
    • Provide a solution focused consultancy service to clients e.g. property developers, SMEs, business partners and retail customers. This will be in support of sales and presales colleagues, which will entail the analysing of complex customer requirements
    • Provide high level assistance and support prior to solution implementation, during solution implementation and post solution implementation.
    • Build and maintain productive relationships with key clients, internal groups within the company, suppliers and partners.
    • Deliver presentations to customers on existing and emerging technologies as well as the benefits or impact of these on customers.
    • Identify opportunities within client environments for solutions or new product development.
    • Respond to business and wholesale customer queries as per request for information (RFI) and request for proposal (RFP) documents.
    • Conduct research on and keep abreast of ICT trends to identify new product opportunities. Utilise solution design experience and expertise to provide input into and create architecture for new product development.
    • Regularly meet with the internal parties; e.g. Products and Engineering teams; as well as external parties; e.g. suppliers and partners; in order to understand internal and external roadmaps, technology strategies and product strategies.
    • Review and assess all existing products and services or those being considered by Vodacom in terms of its applicability and impact on business customers.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Knowledge of converged solutions, Vodacom Business Product portfolio an technical design, Vodacom Consumer fixed offering and technical design, Infrastructure design and development e.g. Software, Infrastructure and Platform services and unified communications.  
    • Cross Domain Technology Architecture knowledge coupled with implementation experience including a combination
    • Min 5 Years relevant experience in IT or Engineering (essential).  
    • Industry certification e.g. Cisco (CCNA/CCDA and above), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (preferred).  
    • In-depth knowledge of various technology architecture domains and convergence (preferred).

     

    Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

    • Matric
    • 3 year Degree in IT or Engineering related field (essential).

    Product Manager

    Role Purpose

    The Product Manager role is based in the Vodacom Business.

    To develop and manage the overall products and solution sets, product pricing, commercialise new products, product development and product management within the product innovation department of Fixed & Mobile. 
     

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Co-ordinate and drive all product development, product integration and go-to-market strategy for product set to ensure that the strategy achieves the objectives of profitable growth and expansion of market share for that product and service
    • To be responsible for developing and implementing the specific product and service’s sales & support documentation, costing and pricing models
    • Responsible for product definition, market needs analysis, viability and product fit
    • Responsible for all new product plans, announcements, launches and withdrawals & manage the process of commercialising all new or enhanced products working through VCS marketing
    • Development of go-to-market sales plan for the product including pre-sales and post-sales support processes and documentation.
    • Innovate and curate relevant services in alignment with Vodacom’s Strategy.  

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Innovation and critical  thinking skills – proven track record 
    • Good communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) and good financial skills  
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form& manage relationships at all levels within both internally and externally (customers and industry).
    • Ability to drive multi-disciplinary virtual teams to deliver an optimal commercialised product.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of Vodacom and partner teams in order to define specifications, prioritise features, build consensus and coordinate the release of new features and product enhancements.
    • Facilitate communication throughout the product development process between an array of internal teams

    Senior Specialist: Technology Architect

    Role Purpose

    • To provide architectural and design guidance and expertise to Technology and Vodacom as a whole for technical and commercial initiatives.
    • To support the organization in providing end-to-end thought leadership and strategic guidance.  These initiatives include key strategic technology evolution initiatives as well as key capability enabling initiatives.  
    • To own/lead the overall deployment/upgrade/evolution of Vodacom technical platforms from a strategic guidance and architectural perspective.
       

    Your responsibilities will include

    • To lead the Technology Architecture team and broader Technology Group in order to co-produce the long-term Vodacom Enterprise Architecture.
    • To produce technical Target Architectures or technical domains in order to transform the Technology landscape in line with the company strategy.
    • To collaborate on Key Strategic Initiatives from an architectural perspective, that provide thought leadership or strategic direction by liaising with and aligning (when required) Technology and all other relevant BU’s to provide technical and non-technical guidance for a particular area of focus.  
    • To lead technology domain owners by defining Technical Evolution Roadmaps for various technologies within or across domains in terms of evolution of technologies within or across domains, taking into consideration the relevant standards, industry and market trends and relevant business needs.
    • To conceptualize architectural guidance for the Procurement of new technologies and systems through various SCM processes.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Matric/Grade 12 (or SAQA Accredited equivalent) is essential 
    • A relevant 3 year Degree in Electrical Engineering or Information Systems (or SAQA Accredited equivalent) is essential  
    • A 4 year Honours Degree in Computer/ Electrical Engineering or Information systems is preferred
    • A minimum of 5 years total experience in the Telecommunications Industry is essential. 2 years of the above 5 years’ experience should ideally be in Architecture, Systems Planning or Systems Design.
    • In depth knowledge/experience of the Telecommunication Industry in two of the following domains: 
    • Fixed Telecommunications technologies, including Access, Transmission and Core Network knowledge, both Circuit and Packet switched
    • Mobile Telecommunications technologies, including Access, Transmission and Core Network knowledge, both Circuit and Packet switched
    • Mobile bearer technologies as defined by 3GPP/IETF/GSMA
    • Telecommunications BSS knowledge including (but not limited to) CRM Systems, Charging and Billing Systems, BI Technologies and Integration Technologies. 
    • Digital Evolution technologies including 5G, Cloud, Platforms, Microservices, Disruptive Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation, Internet of Things and so forth.
    • General knowledge of key technology concepts that impact Telecommunications and the broader ICT industry in order to provide thought leadership
    • Enterprise Architecture Methodologies, Standards and Best Practices as defined by industry architectural bodies.
    • Communications skills including interpersonal skills, presentation skills, negotiation skills, relationship building ability, management reporting etcetera.
    • Use of English language for professional technical writing to produce presentations and documents that are of global industry standard

    Customer Intelligence & Performance

    Role Purpose

    The Senior Specialist: Customer Intelligence & Performance role is based in the Vodacom Business

    • Manage and deliver customer life cycle programs and activities in order to maximize the customer lifetime value of the enterprise customers (revenue / margin). 
    • Develop a DataMart for direct campaign management
    • Plan, design and execute direct marketing campaigns
    • Research and develop methods for measuring and analysing direct marketing campaign impact on customer behaviour as well as revenue (e.g. Design of Experiment)
    • Research and implement new methods for optimizing targeting, campaign impact and incremental revenue lift.
    • Perform complex analysis on customer characteristics and behaviour to identify opportunities and inform customer value management activities
    • Perform diagnostic analysis to understand root causes to revenue dilution or change in behaviour.
    • Recommend CVM activities to drive sales and increase revenue.
       

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • The candidate is expected to own and deliver direct marketing campaigns across entire customer lifecycle, and this involves
    • Selecting and prioritising leads for different direct campaigns
    • Measuring effectiveness of direct marketing campaigns using accepted and well researched standards
    • Sourcing and processing customer feedback from outbound campaigns to inform lead selection and dialling strategies
    • Interfacing with advanced analytics team to ensure seamless handover of model output for campaigns
    • Dissecting campaign results to understand underlying behavioural patterns and to develop insights
    • Developing compelling business cases to support CVM activities
    • Setting up trigger based campaigns and managing scheduling thereof 
    • In addition, the candidate is expected to source data from different systems, analyse it and provide insights and recommendations to improve business performance.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Knowledge on SQL-based databases (e.g. SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle) – Essential
    • Database experience (data extraction, transformation & manipulation). – Essential
    • An understanding of Python/R will be an added advantage
    • Strong data analytics skills including; data storage, manipulation, transformation and analysis. 
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Excel and good knowledge on reporting tools i.e. QlikSense, SSRS.
    • Ability to work with multiple data sources – including both transactional and dimensional star schemas & some experience in data model development
    • Some exposure to data model development and reporting experience – automating repetitive data reporting tasks

    Marketing Manager Retail and Region

    Role Purpose

    • Responsible for the regional and retail marketing and brand management of VFS propositions.
    • Responsible for the overall campaign launch, management, and measurement. 
    • Reporting to the Portfolio Manager Brand & Comms – VFS & DLS

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Prepare, implement, and review the regional and retail marketing strategy for VFS 
    • Manage briefing and debrief sessions for all campaigns in order to ensure the continuous alignment of all stakeholders
    • Maintain relationships with the retail and regional marketing divisions to ensure alignment as well as assist with the training & information sharing 
    • Analyse & implement performance indicators for purpose metrics, and develop corrective action plans 
    • Manage agency relationship and performance on campaign outputs
    • Responsible for the campaign achievements and all campaigns post campaign analysis 
    • Manage resources (including budget) to ensure successful implementation of the marketing strategy across all teams as well as sharing with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
    • Work closely with the marketing agency and manage the relationship and performance, including managing innovation for the segment
    • Track effectiveness of marketing campaigns and report findings and recommendations to Head of Brand & Comms - VFS
    • Conduct full post analysis on the effectiveness of Brand Marketing Communications.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • A minimum of 5-8 years’ relevant experience essential within a Marketing/Brand environment which includes:
    • 3 yrs experience dealing with Brands/Marketing on a mid/senior level  
    • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders
    • Advertising agency management experience advantageous
    • Telco experience preferred (Knowledge of Vodacom eco-system advantageous)

    Education:

    • Matric – Essential
    • Relevant 3 year degree/diploma in sales or marketing – essential
    • Telco experience is desirable and understanding of working on big brand campaigns  
    • Understand the Regional markets, competitors and VFS opportunities
    • Identify customer and commercial opportunities through actionable insights
    • Drive simple and differentiating VFS branded claims and propose activities, propositions and customer experience developments to substantiate these
    • Drive and execute the VFS Marketing plan/roadmap and deliver against this
