    Summary

    Job Summary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Mechanical Engineering design in the Building Services sector.
    • Mechanical Engineering Design including HVAC systems, Compressed Air systems, Process Cooling systems, Technical Gas systems.
    • Proficient in relevant Mechanical Engineering software like HAP.
    • Liaison with local authorities including Council submissions and sign-off.
    • Provide technical training and mentorship to less experienced team members.
    • Technical quality enforcement including design reviews and sign-off.
    • Interfacing of designs with other disciplines e.g. structural, architectural, mechanical & electrical.
    • Handling full scope of mechanical engineering consulting services on projects from conception to close-out.
    • Implementing and ensuring of compliance to company quality management system.
    • Use of international and local design standards and codes of practice like SANS, BS & EN,
    • Liaison with Clients and other consultants.
    • Report to Mechanical Practice Line Lead on Mechanical team quality and performance metrics.

    Minimum Requirements

    • 10+ years experience.

    Other Comments

    • Valid driver’s licence.

    Job Summary This is a technical planning position with a focus on Development Planning. You will perform varied duties at the Front Counter and in the Area Planning & Development Division.

    Duties And Responsibilities

    • Providing information services, including by-law and policy interpretation and advice related to planning and development.
    • Communicating with the public, applicants, agents, external agencies and departments.
    • Preparing reports and correspondence on development applications.
    • Acting as a resource to Planning Operations Clerks in carrying out their duties and provide technical assistance in carrying out other planning duties including research, data collection and tabulation.
    • The Planning Technician must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and clients and have good communication, written and oral presentation skills be proficient in a wide variety of relevant computer applications. Some knowledge of planning principles, as well as the Local Government Act, Surrey by-laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards applicable to planning and development are required.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Previous work experience in the planning field is preferred.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in planning, geography, economics, commerce, political science or a related field from a recognized post-secondary educational institution.

    Student Quantity Surveyor

    Job description

    Job Summary Under the supervision of a registered Quantity Surveyor, carrying out the normal duties and
    functions which occur within a professional Quantity Surveying office. These duties and functions
    include

    • Preparing estimates of construction costs.
    • Measurement of building quantities for bill preparation and final accounts.
    • Drafting bills of quantities.
    • Site visits and site measurement.
    • Preparing valuations for issue of interim payment certificates.
    • Assisting with cost management of construction projects.
    • Preparing and concluding final accounts.
    • Complying with basic office rules and procedures.
    • Complying with the procedures laid down by the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors regarding obtaining registration. It is expected that registration will be obtained at the earliest possible date.
    • Attending all in-house seminars and workshops.
    • Obtaining the required computer literacy and skills.
    • Working in conjunction with other staff.
    • Ensuring compliance with the firm’s quality management systems, including establishing a full knowledge of the quality and practice manual.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements Personal attributes, qualities or competencies

    • The candidate must be a hard working, honest, trustworthy with high level of integrity, reliable, positive attitude, respectful, willingness to learn, team player.
    • Computer skills in Excel, Word etc.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • The candidate must be currently in the process of obtaining their undergraduate BSc. Quantity Surveyor's degree from any of the Universities in South Africa or;
    • The candidate must be currently enrolled in their postgraduate BSc. (Honours) Quantity Surveying degree from any of the Universities in South Africa. Complying with basic office rules and procedures.
