    Coordinator III (Marketing) (P8) (UJ Sport Division)

    Responsibilities:

    • Planning, implementing, and evaluating success of marketing programmes/strategies of UJ Sports.
    • Analyse UJ Sports data.
    • Collaborate with internal and external parties to conduct market research.
    • Create promotional/marketing materials.
    • Act as the marketing liaison for UJ Sports.
    • Develop branded materials such as posters, flyers, and social media graphics.
    • Constant engagement with UJ Sport supporters through social media.
    • Sharing achievements through social media.
    • Playing an active role in raising funds for UJ Sports.
    • Plan, implement and execute campaigns to ensure that targeted sponsorship activities are completed.
    • Assist clubs, divisions, and associated entities to develop sponsorship plans and processes for implementation.

    • Managing budget and other resources needed to implement and maintain marketing and communication campaigns service. 
    • Keeping abreast of the environment, developments and trends in the internal and external marketing areas.

    Minimum requirements

    • Relevant Bachelors Degree in Marketing or equivalent 
    • A valid Drivers licence
    • Project management qualification
    • Three (3) to five (5) years' marketing and communication experience within the discipline
    • Relevant experience in a university environment
    • Project management experience.
    • Knowledge of university systems, structures, policies and procedures
    • Experience in the Sport environment advantageous 
    • Fundraising knowledge

    Job Description:

    The Department of Chemical Sciences is an academic unit within the Faculty of Science. The core functions of the department are teaching, training, and research. The department is situated on both the APK Campus in Auckland Park, and the DFC campus in Johannesburg

    Responsibilities:

    • Be actively involved in core activities of the department such as teaching, research, academic administration, shortcourse development, marketing, and community projects.
    • Assume responsibility to teach modules (theory and/or practical) enlisted for the Chemistry undergraduate programme in the Department. 
    • The incumbent will also be expected to participate in curriculum development and teach modules in postgraduate programmes.
    • Annually publish peer-reviewed papers in accredited scientific and/or academic journals, and deliver papers at national and international conferences, commensurate with the level of appointment.
    • Actively supervise postgraduate students.
    • Obtain research funding from external funding bodies.
    • Perform administrative and ad hoc duties as required by the Department.

    Minimum requirements

    • PhD in chemistry or equivalent
    • Must have teaching experience at undergraduate level.
    • The candidate must be able to teach general chemistry and be flexible in teaching other Chemistry sub-fields as the  Department may require.
    • Proven research excellence in materials science for energy storage and sustained, significant research outputs in ISI accredited journals.

    • Annually publish peer-reviewed papers in accredited scientific and/or academic journals, and deliver papers at national and international conferences, commensurate with the level of appointment.
    • Actively supervise postgraduate students.
    • Obtain research funding from external funding bodies.
    • Perform administrative and ad hoc duties as required by the Department.

    Minimum requirements

    • PhD in chemistry or equivalent, with experience in membrane science for applications in water treatment and purification.
    • Must have teaching experience at undergraduate and post-graduate tertiary level (5-10 years).
    • Previous involvement in developing university learning programmes, developing new courses, or enriching existing courses.
    • Experience in supervising post-graduate students, and evidence of graduated MSc and/or PhD students.
    • Proven research excellence and sustained, significant research outputs in ISI accredited journals.
    • NRF rating would be a requirement.
    • Evidence of community and/or industrial involvement would be beneficial.
    • Proven record of engagement with the scholarship of teaching, e.g., an abridged teaching evaluation or portfolio.
