    Portfolio Manager Hedge Funds

    Role Purpose    

    Drive strategic investment portfolio management for the Fund of Hedge Funds based on objectives of the mandate, client expectations, and Momentum Alternative Investments’ strategic goals. Provide input into private market investment opportunities and contribute to the development and implementation of a growth strategy for the business.

    Requirements    

    • Degree in Investment Management (or equivalent) 
    • CAIA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) preferred
    • 5+ years’ experience in multi-manager manager selection and portfolio management
    • Exposure to multi-asset portfolio construction 
    • Experience in stakeholder management

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    Investment Portfolio Management – Hedge Funds

    • Research and analyse existing and potential investment opportunities.
    • Construct and manage investment portfolios based on the objectives of the mandate and client expectations.
    • Ensure that the portfolio management and risk management processes are well defined, rigorous and consistently applied.
    • Effectively interpret and utilise ongoing research to determine the appropriate improvements on solutions to ensure market dynamics are considered and effectively applied.
    • Make recommendations to enhance the investment mandates to increase profitability or cost effectiveness of the investment solution.
    • Monitor and report on portfolio performance across the range
    • Provide technical advice and expertise regarding the portfolio construction in order to support marketing initiatives, and in due diligence process.
    • Participate and contribute pro-actively and constructively on identified investment governance forums relevant to your role and capability set.
    • Research and develop new products and strategies across hedge fund, long only and structured product investments.

    Broader Alternative Investments Input - Private Market Funds

    • Identify and analyse potential investment opportunities for the private market portfolios.
    • Secure the approval of the strategy mandate through the appropriate governance structures.
    • Structuring, negotiating and implementing transactions which suit the portfolio mandates.
    • Preparing and presenting investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.
    • Negotiating deals and conditions, and structuring transactions, including negotiating legal agreements.

    Client and stakeholder relationship management

    • Contribute to sustaining a competitive edge through external networking and benchmarking and representation on relevant forums.
    • Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders.
    • Build and maintain a professional profile that aligns to the values of Momentum Investments
    • Contribute to a client service excellence culture which builds enduring relationships and allows team to provide exceptional client service.
    • Deliver on service level agreements made with clients and internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that client expectations are managed and met.

    Personal Assistant - Paarl

    Role Purpose    

    Ensure the smooth running of the business by providing effective administrative assistance to theRegional Manager.

    Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualificationOffice administration, secretarial or equivalent qualification3-4 years' relevant experience (essential)Exposure to supporting a manager or team (desirable)Exposure to the insurance industry (essential)

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    INTERNAL PROCESS

    • Proactively manage, coordinate and maintain the diary of the line manager.
    • Coordinate all aspects of meetings, workshops and functions (venue logistics, catering) according to manager’s requirements, and within budget parameters.
    • Administrative support for meetings and workshops (collate, compile and distribute agendas, presentations, minutes within agreed timeframes).
    • Manage travel arrangements for manager, according to agreed business process and budget parameters.
    • Manage incoming calls and correspondence (paper and electronic), responding independently where possible and in line with authorised judgement.
    • Order and control refreshments, office supplies and equipment, ensuring enough stock is always available, in line with budget parameters.
    • Ensure files (paper and electronic) are kept in order and easily accessible by manager.
    • Prepare and check invoices and arrange for payments to ensure adherence to requirements and Service Level Agreements.
    • Ensure office equipment is regularly maintained by relevant service providers.
    • Monitor and respond to incoming communication on behalf of line manager, where appropriate, ensuring efficiency and timeous response.
    • Escalate faults and other housekeeping issues with the relevant service provider and ensure queries are resolved within agreed Service Level Agreements.

    • Provide authoritative, expertise and advice to clients and stakeholders.
    • Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders.
    • Deliver on service level agreements made with clients and internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that client expectations are managed.
    • Make recommendations to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area ofresponsibility.
