    Professional Nurse - Cape Town

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Stock Control

    • Maintain adequate levels of consumables for providing comprehensive clinical care in the clinic
    • Regular stock taking and ordering of supplies from the local CDC 
    • Ensure adherence to basic store room principles
    • Liaise with CHC pharmacy and stores re availability of stock and medication

    Medical waste control 

    • Ensure that universal precaution measures are adhered to in the clinic
    • Ensure safe removal of medical waste bins and sharps containers to the CHC for disposal
    • Ensure sufficient stock of sharps bins and medical waste containers for clinic and outreach usage

    Administrative and reporting duties

    • Act in a professional manner, reflecting the mission of Anova
    • Demonstrates compliance with all policy, procedures and DoH regulations
    • Participate in performance improvement activities as requested
    • Complete accurate records for all patients treated according to DOH protocols
    • Keep accurate statistics for all clients treated and compile a monthly RMR report
    • Assist with the accurate filing of patient documentation

    Counselling

    • Provide adherence counselling for patients defaulting on treatment
    • Provided pre and post counselling for patients screening for HIV
    • Assist and perform basic life skill counselling

    Clinical Duties

    • Provide comprehensive health care to men with HIV / AIDS / STIs and related sexual health concerns
    • Provide basic education information to men with HIV/AIDS, STI and related sexual health concerns
    • Performs assessment data collection and documents subjective data (chief complaint and allergies) and objective data (vital signs/weight/etc.)
    • Administers medications and other treatment skillfully and correctly
    • Ensure a clean therapeutic environment for all patients
    • Triage all clients addressing their health needs
    • Screen patient’s vital signs and BMI
    • Screen patients for TB symptoms and reason for attending the clinic
    • Assist patients during their transit through the clinic
    • Perform basic procedures e.g. injections and minor procedures
    • Provide comprehensive HIV screening service
    • Assist with HCT outreach events

    Support and Collaboration with peers and other providers within the team

    • Discuss health care issues with other colleagues involved as needed
    • Work constructively within the wider multi-disciplinary team within the Anova
    • Serve as a resource person to other staff in the area of one’s own clinical expertise

    Minimum qualifications and experience

    • Registered as a Professional Nurse with South African Nursing Council
    • Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
    • Ability to speak local languages
    • Ability to work independently and be part of a multi-disciplinary team
    • Valid South African driver’s license
    • Willingness to learn
    • Experience in HIV and STI management will be advantageous

    Data Capturer - Johannesburg

    The successful candidate will be required to support the Department of Health through direct service at facility level to carry out data-related admin work, capture patient’s files, generate defaulter reports and compile monthly statistics.
     

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Health Systems Strengthening

    • Capture patient’s information into all database platforms, e.g., TIER.Net and other DoH database applications.
    • Carry out data quality assessments and audits with close guidance from M&E Officer.
    • Conduct monthly data validations using prescribed tools on collected data from DHIS, Tier.net and TB modules /ETR/Redcap.
    • Assist facility Data Capturers in populating run-charts for DIP elements.
    • Update tracing outcomes from CHWs and CLOs on the defaulter tracing tool.
    • Coordinate and collect ad-hoc and routine weekly data from facilities by all Anova Team members in the Sub-District.

    Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

    • Grade 12.
    • Tertiary Graduates an advantage.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience using TIER.Net.
    • Resident of Johannesburg catchment area highly advantageous.
    • Data capturing competency through experience or training.
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Fast and accurate data capturing skills.

    Enrolled Nurse - Johannesburg

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Clinical services:

    • Screen patients for STIs, TB/HIV and refer for further management
    • Facilitate established support groups for patients living with HIV/AIDS
    • Establish and implement adolescent ART support groups at all targeted facilities
    • Assist at alternative distribution sites to ensure efficient running of the programme
    • Support and perform monitoring activities including updating of registers, collection of statistics and validation of data
    • Compile and analyse patient data and statistics as required
    • Provide in-service training on facilitation of support groups to Department of Health’s (DoH) facility Enrolled Nurses
    • Compile and submit relevant reports weekly, monthly and quarterly

    Junior IT Technician

    We are looking for an experienced Junior IT Technician is responsible for the maintenance of an electronic health strengthening system (prescriptions) and support users of the system at an allocated healthcare facilities and related pick-up points within a sub-district.

    Key duties and responsibilities

    Technical support and maintenance of health strengthening system.

    • Provide technical support and advice to end-users (including Anova staff) on technology and system issues to enable them to fulfil their duties.
    • Monitor the use and security of equipment related to the electronic system at healthcare facilities and manage the equipment asset register for these non-Anova owned items. Also ensure that Anova equipment allocated to staff is monitored and secure.
    • Maintain equipment and system to ensure the optimum functioning of all equipment and software (can include but not limited to laptops, tablets, scanners, internet browsers and connectivity).
    • Attend to any challenges and gaps by liaising with the provincial and Anova Helpdesk for support (for e.g., 3rd party changes made on back end, but which need to be managed by the front end but was not communicated), clarifying the challenge/gap and resolving issue.
    • Provide ongoing support and training at health facilities and pick-up-points to ensure optimal and consistent utilization of the electronic system. Encourage participation from clients (nurses for example), and designated service providers.
    • Carry out other appropriate duties as requested through logged calls, by various requestors (for e.g., 3rd party Senior IT Specialist or Facilities manager or Anova ICT Manager) to assist in the rectification of issues to enable end users to be able to fulfil their duties.
    • Assist the facility in the installation and deployment of software over the network, as well as keeping records for all software licenses, ensuring all licensing laws are adhered to.
    • Assist in the deployment of devices for facilities, as well as maintaining accurate records of all ICT devices to support the facility.
    • Identify risks and issues related to the electronic system and escalate to Senior IT Technician for resolution.
    • Give input and/or provide clarity to technical information analyzed by Senior IT Technician to provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports.

    Essential qualifications and experience

    • Diploma in Information Systems/Technology, and
    • At least 1 year IT Helpdesk/Support Technician experience having supported on hardware and software dealing with end users.

    Youth Ambassadors

    • Serve as a contact person and navigator for young people who need health services to the facility and out of facility
    • Promote interventions that prevent HIV, TB, STIs and unplanned pregnancy to young people in health facilities & in the community
    • Conduct demand creation for outreach services to Youth Friendly Services in the facility and in the community
    • Ensure that awareness activities implemented for youth are carried out on time and to a high standard and comply with Anova policies and procedures
    • Speak publicly about issues vital to the Youth including vulnerable and orphaned youth
    • Ability to positively influence young people towards behaviour modification
    • Facilitated group discussions and support groups with young people who are on ART or PrEP encouraging them to remain adherent

    Essential qualifications and experience

    Retention Counsellor

    The successful candidate will be responsible to enhance retention in care with specific focus on patients (re)initiating ART, patients that are virally unsuppressed despite effective ART and patients at high risk of disengaging from care. Provide comprehensive and supportive adherence counselling as per the National Adherence Strategy (NAS) SOP 1 and SOP 2, including I-ACT model. Retention Counsellor will be required to conduct counselling session in a non-judgmental manner and ensuring confidentiality according to the Counselling standard.

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide comprehensive counselling to promote retention in line with DoH policies and guidelines and in line with District 909090 DIP and Sub-district IP 909090 plans.
    • Recruit and receive referrals of high-risk patients such as pregnant women, paediatrics, adolescents and youth.
    • Promote and facilitate index testing and facilitate partner disclosure using the Index Screening Tool and actively refer for HTS.
    • Collaborate with Ward Based Outreach team and DoH Social Worker, Dietician, Lay Counsellors, and Clinicians for bi-lateral referrals.
    • Report as per agreed timelines to Professional at the facility or other Anova team members as required.
    • Be available to work on weekends &/ or Public Holidays to provide adherence counselling at DoH facilities when required, a minimum of at least one Saturday per month (When required).
    • Certificate in couple counselling, RTCQI, disclosure and paediatric consent an advantage.
    • Knowledge of DoH HTS guidelines & protocols.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as an HTS counsellor/ Adherence counsellor Adherence counsellor

    Minimum qualifications and experience:

    • Grade 12 Certificate.
    • Training in Basic HAST, HIV Counselling, Adherence counselling

    Pharmacy Assistant

    The successful candidate will be required to to support implementation of pharmacy activities in Anova supported facilities by ensuring that they are compliant with Basic Pharmacy principles, implementation and maintenance of stock visibility solution and alternative distribution models.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide mentorship and support to ensure that adequate levels of stock are always available
    • Ensure compliance with good pharmacy practice
    • Maintenance of stock visibility solution (SVS)
    • Implementation of Repeat Prescription Collections (RPC) in supported facilities
    • Support the retention of accurate and updated records on pharmacy activity & decanting
    • Perform duties of Pharmacist Assistant such as dispensing, drug supply management etc. in line with Scope of Practice
    • Represent Anova in stakeholder meetings and workshops when requested

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • Registered as a post basic Pharmacist Assistant with SAPC.
    • At least 1 year experience on HIV/AIDS treatment regimen and adherence issues.
    • Understanding of ART, TB and general medication.
    • Good knowledge of antiretroviral therapy, TB and chronic medication.
    • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
    • Be able to work under pressure & independently.
    • Proficiency in Ms Office.
