    Job Advert Summary    
    Reporting to the Maintenance Co-ordinator Mechanical, the successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision, control & organising of the Maintenance Mechanical Section staff under his/her control in order to ensure availability of an efficient plant & continuous water supply to customers.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • N6 National Technical certificate with a recognized trade test or National Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • 5 years’ post trade experience in a mechanical engineering environment
    • 2 years’ experience in a supervisory environment
    • Code B drivers’ license and ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test
    • Sound labour relations skills

    Process Controller-Slaker House (Shift Work)

    Job Advert Summary    
    Reporting to the Senior Process Supervisor-Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for the correct operation and control of lime slakers. Checking and reporting of lime stock levels as well as the correct dosing of lime into the systems to ensure good quality water into distribution network. The operation of CO2 valves and the receiving and off-loading of lime and ferric.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 combined with a NQF level 3 qualification in Water and Waste Water treatment.
    • Two years’ experience in a Plant, Water Purification and Computer environment combined is essential.

    • A valid Code 08 Driver‘s license and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test.

    Primary Duties    

    • Operate conveyors and vibrators to fill the lime slaker bunkers and to ensure a continuous supply of crushed burnt lime to the slakers.
    • Operate and control slakers by following safe operating procedures.
    • Operate classifier by removing grid which is discharged from the slaker
    • Ensure continuous pumping of lime to the sedimentation system through the lime dosing pumps.
    • Operate grid conveyor and report any deviations to the Supervisor.
    • Check the settings on the ferric chloride dosing pumps and adjust settings as required.
    • Operate and control the dosing pumps during emergencies at the Poly plant. Receive Poly from the supplier and check stock and delivery notes.
    • General housekeeping duties.
